I Have A Question About Universities Around California

Can I get into ANY California State University with a 2.7gpa and 1570 sat?

Your 2.7 GPA is just too low. The positive answer you need to hear is that apprenticeships are available to you.

Students with less than ~3.0 GPA do not belong in a 4yr college, and you're unlikely to reverse that in Community College.
However, 4yr apprenticeship in some decent trade will result in a valuable and portable qualification.
I see job ads for Machinists and Aircraft Mechanics (A&Ps) all the time. I don't see ads for Sociology grads.

ADDED
Someone advises you a — 2.7 GPA student — to attend CSU-Dominguez Hills:
"Cal State Dominguez Hills is more competitive for admission but does still take around 58%.
ROFL!
This is an example of why students with no insight should not be giving advice:
Cal State–Dominguez Hills fails almost 70% of its students. This includes people who came in with 4.0 and 2.7. The ugly truth is students with less than 3.0 GPA are at ENORMOUS disadvantage in any real college. At least 80%~90% of sub-3.0 students at Dominguez Hills fail or give up. Of those who do manage to stagger through to a degree, most of them graduate in soft and non-marketable Majors.

So the choice is yours: Do you want to risk a prohibitive 80%~90% chance of failure at Dominguez Hills or other inferior college (or emerge with a worthless degree), or do you want to build a good life with an apprenticeship or other vocational qualification, and maybe go to college later in life when you're more likely to succeed?

Look at the fundamental premises at their web sites:UC:  The only world-class public research university for, by and of CaliforniaCal State: The CSU is a leader in high-quality, accessible, student-focused higher education.   The UC System   and   The California State University   So, it would appear that the UC system is centered around Advance Research and the Cal State System is centered around the Students. They have different missions, and I believe they serve their expected communities well.  And the Cal State system is geared to assist graduate students on a Part-Time basis.

Easiest 4 yr university to get into in california?

All of the University of California schools are highly selective. If any of them have high acceptance rates, it is mainly because unqualified students rarely apply to them. In addition, most of the UC schools do not offer business as an undergraduate major. The ones that do (like Berkeley) are highly selective.

None of the California State University schools are selective. Without knowing anything about you, I can tell you that you have a good shot at getting into them.

On the other hand, I do not feel that the product that they offer is worth the money if you are paying out-of-state tuition.

I can tell you exactly how to get in-state tuition -- because I qualified for it when I got my PhD at Berkeley. You have to live in California for a full year to establish residency. It is OK if you were a student for that previous year. You also have to prove financial independence. In addition, you have to prove that you stayed in California during your breaks from school.

I had to show receipts that I was in California during Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

The schools that are easy to get into are bad schools. I'm not sure why you would want to move to California to go to a bad school. I went there to go to a good school -- and am not sure living there was worth it.

Questions about the University of California online application!!?

1) What would be the standards for me to apply for the EOP? (educational opportunity program?) I am a korean american living in a family that makes around 50,000 a year w/ one working parent.

"The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) provides assistance to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This program is open only to California residents and American Indians from any state."

would i apply?

2) I moved to the US when i was just one year old, I learned korean before english, and i speak korean at home. however, i quickly learned english and now it is my more comfortable language. should i state that my first language is still korean?

3) in the section "activities and awards", there is a subcategory of "coursework other than A-G". according to the site,
"List and briefly describe any courses you took since ninth grade other than those required for UC admission that demonstrate a particular focus or interest. Examples of coursework other than "a-g" include, but are not limited to, a ROP nursing careers course, a Spanish immersion program, weekend Chinese school and non-transferable community college courses. "

Should I include community college courses (transferable credits) that I took over the summer, or does that not apply? (I already included the courses I took in the academic history part, though)

A majority of undergraduate and graduate international students live in rented apartments located off campus. Many students share an apartment with another student to lower costs. Recently, new students had much difficulty locating off-campus housing when arriving less than two weeks prior to classes. Apartment managers require proof that you are able to pay your rent.To help in your search for your desired apartment near your university, please visit the following website:https://amberstudent.com

About UCLA...(University of California at Los Angeles)?

I have some questions..

1. Is UCLA recognized?? If you rank it among all the universities in the United States, where would it stand??

2. Is it hard to get in?

3. Is the tuition expensive?

4. What other state universities are good??

5. How is the environment around UCLA? like the town, climate, where in Los Angeles.

6. How are the students at UCLA???

THAT WOULD BE ALL.... THANKS!

Wow! You must have worked incredibly hard to get an acceptance at both. So given the physical climates are both good tho NC has 4 seasons. What else to consider? Major-is one school better than the other for your interests? Culture-North Carolina is the south. It is very conservative outside of the big cities of Raleigh/Durham. USC is well…….you know. Where do you think will give you a challenge in ideas, culture , thinking , physicality? Then think again and get on you knees and be grateful for this problemGood luck..you are going to make the right decision.

Bruins have 114 NCAA Division One Championships, second in the nation only to Stanford U. Water Polo, Women’s Soccer had recent wins and the Basketball program has the most championships ever. Coach Mora, who is leaving as Football coach, has an impressive record in making sure his players find success after college… and of course John Wooden was the best but not the only great coach that cared about his players.

While I attended CalU, most of my friends commuted so they all went home every day. Anybody who was still around would do some combination of these:WorkStudy/school workSportsFishingOther extra curricular activities, clubs, fraternity/sorority life.I made sure to put fishing separate from other sports because that was what I spent my time doing when I wasn't working or studying. Pike Run, that separates Coal Center always had bunches of people fishing along its banks during trout season. In the spring, there's also a youth fishing competition held there. It's great for young anglers and a good way to be a part of the community while you’re away from home.
