I Have An Underbite How Can I Fix It

How do I fix an underbite, or is it too late?

It's never too late to improve your bite and your smile.Depending on the extent of your problem, most under-bites can be corrected by braces alone or with the combination of braces and orthognathic surgery - special surgery to correct conditions of the jaw and face related to structure.Your dentist will need to analyze your bite, and among many aspects of your bite, to see if your under-bite is stemming from an underdeveloped upper jaw, or overdeveloped lower jaw.In many cases, your bite can be adjusted by moving your teeth into more optimal position with the use of braces and/or retainers. Our practice  encounters plenty of adult patients that are looking to straighten  their teeth and have seen amazing results from braces, Invisalign and the  Six Months Smiles system. Can braces fix my underbite? I'm 16.

An underbite is more than just a cosmetic issue. While some people may learn to live with mild cases, severe cases may cause oral health problems, such as:difficulty biting and chewing foodchallenges with speakingmouth and face pain due to misalignment of the jawIn less severe cases of underbite, an orthodontist may be able to use wire or plastic braces or other dental appliances to move the teeth into their correct place. Removal of one or more teeth on the lower jaw may also help improve the appearance of an underbite if overcrowding of the teeth is contributing to the issue. An orthodontist may also use a grinding device to shave down or smooth teeth that are large or stick out.In more severe cases of underbite, a I would recommend surgery to correct the condition. No one can answer your question perfectly without examining your bite. If you are looking for Braces in Colorado Springs I would suggest you schedule an appointment at your orthodontist office to see if braces are best fit for you.

How do you feel to have an underbite?

It doesn’t feel any different to any other kind of bite, it’s just what you’re used to having.I had an underbite when I was younger, I didn’t know I had it until the orthodontist told me, and that I needed braces to correct it!Now, I have a “normal” bite, and it feels the same really. The only difference now is sometimes when I put my teeth together in alignment (when I close), it feels like I’m pushing my jaw back to do so. As in, it’s not entirely a comfortable position for my jaw.Hope that helps!

16 with underbite...how to fix?! please?

So like I said I'm 16 years old and have an underbite. I'm not sure how severe you would consider it though my bottom teeth will not go behind my front teeth no matter how hard I try if that helps any. My only dentist appt ever was when I was in 2nd grade so like 9 years old Iguess and he said I should see an ortho for it. At the time my parents didn't have the money for that so I have never been to a dentist again. My two front teeth are a little crooked and I don't like the underbite. In march they are taking me to the ortho to see about braces and all since we will have the money then. So what can I expect? surgery? is it too late to fix the underbite with braces? any and all info welcome!!!

How can I fix my underbite as a teenager?

Underbites have always been more challenging to fix than overbites for orthodontists. It is a problem that is often dealt with by a maxillofacial surgeon, who typically reduces the length of the mandible (lower jaw). However, this approach deals with the symptoms and not the cause. To understand the cause, read the Tropic Premise and watch the video below. Your best option would be to consult an Orthotropics specialist or an orthodontist who uses Myobrace. Myofunctioanl therapists can also help you change the underlying problems that have caused the underbite.

Will braces fix an underbite?

Yes braces will help. Although 3mm is very small. An underbite is insignificant unless your bite, breathing or speech has been compromised. It's unlikely that you could go through life with severe problems related to your underbite. It's very possible it could get worse, but with proper dental care, there is no reason why it should. Beware, as a warning, braces are VERY expensive and VERY time consuming. If you cannot commit to at least 24-36 months of having metal swishing around in your mouth, please do not even consider braces. There are definitely alternatives, but you would need to talk with your orthodontist about that.

Do rubber bands fix an underbite?

I am 13 now and I have had braces for 4 years now. I got them in 3rd grade and now I am in 7th. I have an underbite and it seems to me that during the 4 years... NOTHING HAS CHANGED! I have a couple months of school left and it scares me that I might have them in 8th grade and throughout high school. I don't want braces in high school, yuck! Anyways, my orthodontist hasn't given me rubber bands yet, and after reading on the internet that rubber bands help a lot, I am wondering why my ortho hasn't given them to me yet. I really want them and need them. Do you think that he is planning to give me them later, (part of his plan or something) or is he just a bad orthodontist. I don't think he's bad, though, he was in a magazine for one of the best orthodontists in my area.. lol.

IMPORTANT!!:
My bottom braces have a little lever-like thing in the bottom of them and there is also a lever-like brace on my top tooth just above the bottom tooth. I got them when he put in my bottom braces. I think that maybe he will put the rubber band on those two teeth, but he hasn't yet.

My questions:
1. Will rubber bands help my underbite? (I'm sure my underbite is pretty bad. I can barely bite my bottom teeth.)
2. If he does put them in, will it fix my underbite faster?
3. Will there be pain in my upper jaw from the movement of the teeth?
(I honestly could care less about pain, as long as my teeth are fixed, I'll be jumping for joy. I'm just wondering if there will be pain.)

Sorry for the annoying/stupid and long question. Hope you guys can help me out! I'm desperate... 4 years.. come on. :(
