I Have Astigmatism But Want Colored Contacts. Can I Order A Higher Prescription Of Normal Ones To

Coloured Contacts for High power prescription?

I believe Cibavision makes custom "made to order" contact lens up to a -11.00 power. They are available in a variety of colors including colorblends. The only drawback is that they are sold in vials of 1 lens and those lenses are not disposable and tend to get dirty and uncomfortable in less than one year. They are also rather expensive (around $300 for a pair). Due to the custom aspect of these contacts, consult your optometrist to order since they are not usually available online.

Ordering normal contacts when you have an astigmatism?

You don't have enough astigmatism to need toric lenses.

Regular lenses would work just fine with a bit of a change....IF the curvature works for you, which you can't know in advance.

OD - 3.25
OS - 2.75

That is the powers you need but that doesn't make it safe to order strange lenses from Korea or China. You are taking a chance with your eye health in doing so.

What brand of prescription colored contacts is best for me?

Thanks for the answers I guess? but no one is answering the question at hand. I would like to know a brand that does color contacts in my prescription. To Angelina N, the prescribed non-color contacts I have worn in the past were yearly disposables so they can be worn more than 3-4 months.

To mslider, I appreciate ur answer but my decision to wear colored contacts is MY choice, I consider myself confident in my looks and the colored contacts is more of an accersory not something I must have, its just I prefer how I look with them on. I do not have a weight issue nor do I feel I should fit society's standards of beauty! I just like the look of lighter eyes it isnt like I hate my looks. I have nice eyes color contacts or not!

To Computer Love,I looked that kind up but it doesnt have my prescription in it, yes its a nice color I agree!

To everyone else who says colored dont go over -9.00, that IS NOT true, I looked up CibaVision's brand to enhance light eyes go -10.00

What age would you let your child start wearing (prescription) colored contacts?

If you have astigmatisms and they are -.50 or more than you may not be able to find colored contacts to correct your vision. If your only nearsighted then getting colored lenses should be easy to find.
But since you like your uniqueness that you get by wearing glasses you are likely going to be disappointed with contacts because I doubt even some of your better friends don't know what color your eyes are now. So they probably won't notice the change in your eye color anyway. Also you should know that colored contacts can't or at least shouldn't be wore full time like you no doubt wear your glasses now. Colored lenses don't allow near enough oxygen to enter the eyes and your eyes need that oxygen to keep your eyes healthy. If you want contacts that's fine but for you I really think your better off with clear lenses.
It doesn't seem like you have any real problem with wearing glasses and even like you like how you look wearing them. So wear what you want, not what someone else thinks you should wear.

Can you wear colored contacts over prescription contacts?

No you definitely don't ever want to do that it will plug the holes and cause your eyes to get blisters. Which is a very bad thing. But most of those contacts are the soft kind that are mostly made up of water. That being said there's a little trick that you can do. First make sure that you're not allergic to food coloring. Take a pair of those disposable contact lenses. and put a drop of food coloring of your choice into the solution. in a short time your contact lenses will turn the same color as the food coloring that you put in it. It should not burn your eyes.and in a few uses the food coloring will wear off out of the contacts.

Should I wear higher prescription to compensate for mild astigmatism?

My prescription is OD: -0.75x -0.25x 157 and I am wondering if I should get my glasses made to -1 D as well as my soft spherical contacts. Is there a side effect for just going over -0.25 more diopters in my prescrip? Also my OS is 0.50x -1.25x 180 and I was also wondering if I should do those -1.25 D to compensate the same way. Both would be without cylinder nor axis to prevent distortions. I will also add that I am 21 and focusing is not an issue. Bad idea? Good to go? Any advice is appreciated.

Can I use normal coloured contacts with astigmatism by just putting only the sphere values?

If you use spherical contact lenses, your vision will be better than without them, but still somewhat blurry since you are not correcting the cylinder.Having said that, if you are willing to put up with some residual blurriness, then you could choose a spherical contact lens with your spherical equivalent ie sphere + 1/2 cylinder. In this case, you could tryRight: -1.25DSLeft: -1.25DS.

Color contact lenses for myopia and astigmatism?

Right, Freshlook colorblends are the only available toric colored contact lens and the astigmatism prescription is not strong enough for you. Sorry, they are just not available. That is why most colored contact lenses only do have one number - because most just aren't available for astigmatism correction.

But you also should know that you cannot just go order whatever type of contact lenses you please on whatever website you want. It is ILLEGAL and called "practicing optometry without a license". Contact lenses are a medical prescription and need to be specifically prescribed by a medical doctor (optometrist) for you. Each brand or type of contact lens has a different fitting set and different parameters that need to be safe and fit your individual eye. This is why you must have a contact lens fit and a yearly contact lens evaluation with the eye doctor.

We go to 8+ years of college to be an eye doctor; yet people want to trust themselves by randomly ordering the "pretty" contact lenses online on their own. That's a good way to damage your cornea.

The first number is the spherical correction your eye needs. The second number is the astigmatism correction. The last number is the orientation (axis) that your astigmatism is at.
OD -5.25 -2.25 x 010 --> -5.25 sphere with -2.25 astigmatism correction at axis 10
OS -4.75 -2.25 x 170

Can I wear regular contact lenses if I have high astigmatism?

Its certainly safe. Before they brought out soft lenses for astigmatism I used to wear dailes for swimming without the astigmatism perscription. That gave me enough vision that I could find my way back to my clothes on the beach or to the ladies changing rooms, however it was nothing like as good vision as I got with my hard contacts or glasses. You would really have to get some trial lenses and see just how bad your vision was without the astigmatism perscription to see if this was possible for you occasionally and if your vision was adequate for what you wanted to do then. Mine was fine for swimming, but I wouldn't have been happy to drive or do a lot more in them for example.

You need the co-operation of your optician for this as you need a perscription to order lenses and you really need a trial set. If your current optiican won't help then shop around explaining you just want occasional use and what for and see if anyone is prepared to give you a trial and perscribe. Just buying from a site isn't a good idea as without a perscription you are buying from someone prepared to sell illegally and you may draw your own conclusions about the site from that. In my experience soem opticians are more helpful than others in supporting the lifestyle you want to have. For example I had an optician once who was completely against contacts at all for people with astigmatism as he felt they didnt' give as good vision. The fact that if you are doing sport you get virtually no vision with glasses didnt' weigh with him. An optiicans job is to support the choices you want for your life - find soemone who will do that not impose their choices on you.
