I Have Bsnl Broadband Wifi Modem . How Do I Connect It To Another Wifi Hotspot.

Can we use a WiFi router for a BSNL broadband connection?

Yes, just connect the the ADSL modem's ethernet port to the router's wan port, the wan ip addr must be in the modem's ip sub net, e.g if modem ip is 192.168.1.1 then router wan ip should be 192.168.1.*, then configure router to use static ip for LAN,e.g if router LAN ip addr is 192.168.0.1 then pc ip addr should be 192.168.0.*.Configure port forwarding on both modem and router, don't use upnp.

How do I convert my BSNL ADSL modem into a Wi-Fi Router ?

Can I use a BSNL ADSL2+ Wi-Fi router for any other broadband connection?

Probably not.It will work for other ADSL connections like MTNL if you tweak about with the settings on its web page (probably 192.168.0.1, you can get it if you type ipconfig in the DOS prompt.)ADSL implies you have a phone wire sticking into your modem. Most local ISPs give internet through Ethernet cables. The device you have is a modem-cum-router. You can make a WiFi connection and share files or play on LAN with the device but it most probably does not have an Ethernet port which is marked for sharing an internet connection.

I have a laptop and a BSNL wifi modem with my PC.How can I get my laptop in connection with this network?

I had done this for my friend long time back, but i do not remember much of the steps. Let me try and help you. (But if you ask me, the best internet providers I've seen are - Tata Indicom, AirTel, reliance.)

Steps: - I'm sure you would've got one booklet along wit your wifi modem from BSNL. You will have a list of steps to be followed. I do not remember all of it. Be patient and execute the steps given one by one.
In the middle, there will be one step wherein they will ask you to configure the 'MAC ADDRESS'. You should configure your MAC address then only it will work. All the other steps in that book make your modem 'talk' with BSNL network. Only after you configure your 'MAC' address, your modem will start 'talking' to your pc.

Get the MAC address of the wifi reciever of your laptop first:
open run>cmd, then in the command prompt, enter command, 'ipconfig /all'
you will get a list of things. among that search for 'physical address' it will look something like this - 00-02-2D-09-4B-B3

write this down some where. now refer to your BSNL book. execute the step - 'configure your MAC address' , here when you enter the MAC address in the box provided, you should enter the number you have noted down like this:
00:02:2D:09:4B:B3
(make sure you replace all the ' - ' with ' : ') After this, make sure you have executed all the remaining steps. restart your wifi device in your laptop, your wifi modem, your pc also if needed. Hope it will work for you ...
NOTE: if you do not have the BSNL book, don worry, ask for it in your nearest BSNL customer care centre, or search in internet you will get it.

I have a laptop. It is simple and connects with a modem (I have no wi-fi), smartphone or BSNL broadband connection. I want to use the internet by using the connection on my smartphone. Is it possible?

Best way is to use Wifi hotspot option in your smartphone which requires wifi in your laptop. But in case your laptop does not have wifi then you can go for USB tethering option in your smartphone. You need a data cable which connect your smartphone and your laptop. After that just turn on USB tethering button in your phone and thats it. Make sure data connection in your phone is ON. Or, you can also use bluetooth tethering option also which does not require a data cable rather you need to connect your smartphone and laptop via bluetooth. However, I find USB tethering better in terms of connectivity than bluetooth tethering.Hope that helps.
