I Just Got A Traffic Citation In The Mail

Just received my very first traffic citation in the mail?

The reason why I put ? is that I am guessing from the info on the letter/citation. it has last 4 digits of d/license number and violation date and citation number and court case number. Anyways, it says Violation (s): 2 and I am not sure what that means. Does this mean I violated 2 traffic laws? The citation is mailed from a different city that I have never been to (might have driven through once, but not likely since I had to google). The day of the citation, I don't remember driving anywhere near that town. I tried to recall that day, but I am pretty sure I was at least 29 miles away from that town, plus it was a heavy snowy day and don't remember driving out of town. Like I mentioned, I have never gotten a ticket or pulled over, so I have no idea what I need to do. Do I just pay the fine? But I wanna know what I did wrong and where and how I should proceed with this. I tried the state traffic websites but don't know what to look for since there is no number or a code I can refer to find out what I violated or what my traffic offenses are. I read some articles just now saying it is gonna stay on my driving record. Do all traffic offenses get recorded in your driving records? Can an officer cite me without pulling me over in some other town? or other city court mail citation that was issued by an officer of another town? I am so confused.

Traffic citation not in system, ticket never came in the mail?

I got a speeding citation on April 12, and am supposed to show up in court to take action on June 3rd as shown on the ticket. I am currently overseas since May 19, and thus could not come to the court to make a decision on the listed date. A day before I went overseas I went to the courthouse and was told that the ticket is not in the system yet, and that I would be able to pick a court date online from overseas.

The speeding ticket still has not been mailed to my address, and my citation does not appear in the lasuperiorcourt.org online system. What should I do? Is it possible that I'm in the clear? I'm planning to call the courthouse nonetheless, but any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Would the police ever mail you a traffic citation instead of pulling you over right then and there?

NO, they can NOT. Everyone who is saying it's "rare" or "possible" is just flat out wrong. You have to sign for a ticket. You can't just get it in the mail. If you did you could throw it in the trash and forget about it since you didn't sign for it. The exception is those red light cameras. But those are city/county ordinance violations and do not go on your driver's license, not true tickets. There are exceptions in the ordinance that say the owner of the vehicle is responsible for it if they can't or won't identify who was actually driving. And no officer witnessed the violation. No officer in the U.S. can, nor would have any interest nor reason to, send you a ticket in the mail. The only exception could possibly be if they pulled you over and wrote you a ticket but somehow forgot to give you your copy of it. Then I guess they could mail you your copy. There's a pretty slim chance of that happening though. But if you weren't pulled over and didn't sign a ticket then NO, there is no way no how that you will get a ticket in the mail. I know it's hard to understand for the average citizen who doesn't have much contact with the police and thinks that 99% of police work is writing tickets. In fact less than 5% of police work, even for beat patrol units, is ticket writing. If an officer sees a violation and doesn't stop you then he either doesn't have time to stop you or he just doesn't care. There are many reasons he couldn't have time to. On his way to a call, has a prisoner in the car, is on some kind of detail like taking a car to the shop for an oil change or something, heading to the station at the end of shift. But again most likely is he just doesn't care. If officers stopped every BS little violation they saw they would never turn off the blue lights and would never even make it back to the station at the end of the day. Now what actually COULD happen is an officer witness the violation but not have time to stop you. Then show up at your house later after getting your address off your tag returns and write you the ticket. As long as the statute of limitations hadn't passed (usually 2-3 YEARS) and he could positively identify you as the one he saw committ the violation. That would be possible, but very, very unlikely.

If you get a traffic citation but don't get the mail notice, how do you get the info to do traffic school and avoid ramifications of being late?

I just finished my online traffic school today! Very painless, the best online traffic school out there. Only took a few hours to complete, definitely much better than the 8 hour sit-in-person class that would put you to sleep. Glad to have everything finished for a grand total of $17 with the coupon code I used below which you can use also.Traffic School: http://www.GoToTrafficSchool.comCoupon Code for $2 off: X3E-F72-827It has a verification system to make sure your court will accept this website, and it's nationwide as far as I know. I've taken it twice because it's so awesome!

Just Got a Traffic Citation/Ticket For Illegal U-Turn (Urgent Answer)?

Ok today I just received a ticket for making an illegal u-turn at an intersection in City of Santa Monica. I was given a citation ticket and it said that I have to appear in court at 10/05/09 at 8:30 a.m.

I was wondering if I pay the citation online before the date of that I have to appear in court do I still have to go anyway or has the issue been resolved? I'm basically claiming to be guilty by paying it online so what's the point of going to court.

How much would you estimate the ticket would be? The City is Santa Monica and the State is California just to let you know. I can't call yet because it said to wait at least 5 working days from time of your ticket to call.

I just got parking citation ticket by mail CVC 40202(D)?

I just got parking citation to my vehicle. and traffic officer was unable to physically attach the citation to my vehicle at the time the citation was issued. And actually that day i was in the car and engine are on. And i just park there less than 1 mins and the parking is non parking 8-10 Street cleaning and it happen around 8.05. What should i do ??? Should i pay ticket or anyway i can avoid pay that ticket ???

Haven't received my traffic ticket (CA) in mail or court date? Please help.?

First, DO NOT go to traffic school on this. Driving solo in the car pool lane is NOT a DMV point and will not affect your insurance. Do not waste traffic school on this citation.

It is likely that the citation has not yet found its way into the system. Keep checking. However, you can go to the clerk's office and take care of this at any time, and should do so if either the appearance date or your departure is close. Take about $500 with you--the scheduled fine is $480.

Don't call the police station. Nobody there will be able to help you.

BTW, you HAVE your ticket. What would be sent in the mail is a courtesy notice, but whether you get that or not you must take care of this before the appearance date on the citation.

Is it possible to send traffic ticket in mail?

In the USA this is a common enough thing regarding paying a traffic ticket, the ticket should have an address on the back telling you where to mail it along with the payment. Of course this means you are giving up your right to dispute the ticket. As for receiving the ticket, this is less common but it does happen with automated traffic cameras. The tickets usually include the location, date and time of the infraction along with a digital photo of the vehicle license plate and driver. These are actually easier to dispute if the driver image isn’t clear.
