Keeping horses out all year round?
I'm buying a horse and plan on keeping him out all year, or most of the year and bringing him in during the winter months. I'd like to do regular shows in the summer, but i've heard that horses living out shouldn't have a full groom? is this true? i can understand that in the winter they need as much protection from the elements as possible, but can a horse remain healthy if he is groomed/bathed properly just for shows? obviously i wouldn't bath him in the winter, but give him a full groom. Would he not be protected enough by a warm waterproof rug? Any advice is really appreciated! :) Thankyouuu

With my old boyfriend, it was the same thing but the other way around. He would tell me he loved me, and I would do the same sort of thing. My problem was that I wasn't quite ready to say those three words. That doesn't mean that he doesn't love you, but rather that he wants to be totally sure when he does tell you those things. Try saving those three words for special romantic times. Perhaps you could even abstain from saying "I love you" until HE says it first. I know that sounds awful, but it might be a big weight off his chest. The thing with that phrase is that he is totally obliged to say it back to you whenever you say it. So give him the reins, and let him be in charge of the "I love you"s for a bit. I know this stuff sounds like a step back, but trust me, it will help you both out a lot. Sometimes, a small step back is the only way to move forward.
