Spamming them WON'T block their address-----BUT any future emails from them will be delivered to the Spam folder and since you have that set to delete immediately----you'll never know (or get any) when they email you again. You will have to reset the "empty spam folder" to a week instead of "immediately". (don't forget to "save changes"). THEN, after you have gotten one of their emails in the Spam folder----you can open it and click "not spam" and it will go back to your inbox, and as long as their address is still in your Contact List---that should solve the problem. Then you can go back and reset "empty spam folder" to immediately.

Found myself in a similar situation today.Some very important info which i used to keep in draft, and i clicked 'Discard draft' by mistake, and i recognized my mistake too late (after 30 seconds slot provided by gmail as pointed by @Dick hoe)Then as usual i tried googling the web with a hope that i may find a solution, but with no success. Fortunately, i use gmail on my smart phone as well with auto refresh mode off. What i did next was :1) Switched off all the sources of data connection (Wifi/Mobile data).2) Opened the gmail app.3) Went to Drafts section, and yess.. The Draft which i discarded was present there in the application cache... :).. I copied that data and secured it...I think this may be helpful for some.
