Firstly you shouldn’t bench heavy in the beginning otherwise you will hurt yourself!If you are an advanced or intermediate lifter.At home, do not always hit your PR and 1RM or go beyond that! (Not how you progress, but)The chances of hitting your last bench this time also increase your labor to push the weights up and doing so you could backfire and that time spotter may help you.But In a case like this, when you have no spotter to encourage aka support you. You need to have balls of iron and gut feeling to finish your exercise safely and put weights back on the bench.I didn’t mean to discourage you.Choose weights acc to your strength and be super aware of your energy levels on that day! I will try to break down this answer in 2 scenarios:In my opinion, having a gym partner motivates you to go the gym. Lets assume a scenario where you are not in the mood to go to the gym due to pressure from studies, work and etc. Gym partner here is crucial because sometimes we need some motivation or drive from another person/friend/family to push yourself. Because being lazy will only hurt you. So having gym partner is crucial.Another scenario will be when you are at the gym you need a spot your gym partner again helps you to push out those last few reps that are difficult otherwise.Remember champions come in pairs. So having some one on your side is helpful. When 2 minds work on something they can achieve more. Having gym partner always helps you to push yourself everyday and unlock new achievement.
