I Need Help With Recharging Batteries And Am Not Sure Why They Are Not

Hey guys how long does it take for you to recharge your batteries?

with b..js my bf can c*m again in about 15 minutes but its nearer 30 mins if I w'nk him off

If you put dead batteries in the freezer does it recharge them?

I doubt it will recharge but i know that keeping new batteries in the freezer will help keep the energey inside and stop that batterie acid stuff from coming out like it would in time.

atleast i think so, sorry for not fully answering your question but it is good to keep them in the freezer when there new or still have some juice in them

Rechargeable batteries???

Yes they work to an extent. All rechargeable batteries will only charge so many times before they no longer hold a charge. However, these are still cheaper than buying alkaline batteries all the time. As far as brand goes, it really doesn't matter. What I would recommend is to look for batteries that are NiMH, Nickel Metal Hydride, versus NiCD, Nickel Cadmium. The NiMH do not have that "memory" problem that NiCD have and if you get the NiMH batteries with a higher mAH rating then they will last longer per charge. I would recommend that you look into the NiMH batteries that have a 2000mAH or higher and you should be happy with the results. You can find these batteries just about anywhere, Walmart, Target, Radio Shack, etc... In most places you'll find them in the camera department, just FYI... I hope that this helps and good luck!

Do I need to remove the battery water caps while charging a battery?

Presuming a wet lead-acid battery, like a car battery, no.Those caps are designed to safely vent any gas produced while charging, and also returning any tiny droplets of water/acid thrown up by gassing in the charging process back into the cells where they belong. There’s no harm done by removing the caps, other than you will probably find those little droplets now sitting around the vent cap holes on the top of the battery, and you run the risk of ‘stuff’ - dust, insects, whatever falling into the battery, which you’re better off avoiding.

How long do you have to run a car engine to charge the battery back to the point it was at before starting the car?

IF the battery and charging system are in good condition, and the car starts up normally, meaning within a couple of seconds for any modern car in good condition, it takes only a couple of minutes or so to replenish the small amount of energy stored in the battery that was used to start the engine. If it is very cold, and the car takes  five or ten seconds to start, it will take longer, up  to half an hour or so. ALL the MODERN cars I know about, and that means A LOT OF CARS, have alternators that do produce adequate charging current at idle speeds. In most cases they produce enough to run all the usual accessories such as radio, ac, lights, etc at idle speeds. This is easily verified by the fact that if you watch the ammeter on just about any car or truck built in the last couple of decades, it will NOT show a discharge when idling. even with the lights and ac, etc on. Of course a lot of models come only with an idiot light, which shows only two states, charging or discharging. If the light is on, your battery is being discharged, otherwise the alternator is producing all the electricity needed.I have jumpstarted at least a hundred different cars in the last twenty years and left them idling to recharge the battery. ( I mess around with old cars and help my friends and neighbors out free of charge when it comes around to a jump start. I get it back in other ways, such as an invitation to dinner, etc. )  In EVERY case, unless there was a problem with the battery, alternator, etc, the alternator DID CHARGE THE BATTERY AT IDLE.  Some older cars will not charge at idle, but they are few and far between these days, most of them were scrapped YEARS ago. It a lot of cases, you can hook jumper cables to the battery in an idling vehicle to jumpstart another vehicle, and ACTUALLY HEAR the engine in the running vehicle start PULLING a little harder. THIS is because the alternator SENSES the extra load, and starts using more energy to produce more current. This energy is supplied to the alternator via the BELT driven by the engine. The fact that the alternator is trying mightily to provide a LOT of current at idle speed , far more than  normally needed, actually SLOWS the engine down a little.

I have a Dayton auto battery charger that I am not sure if it is working correctly?

Model # 1JYU2. Display for the voltmeter works and the battery I am trying to charge is dead. I have followed the instructions in the manual. The one thing that I do not see that I feel I should is a read-out on the ammeter when I have it hooked to the battery. It has a manual selector switch that can go from minimum to start. If I increase it I hear it "ramp up" the power but the read out on the ammeter does not change. This is an expensive charger and I do not want to replace it if I do not have to. Maybe I should just take it apart and see if there is a loose connection? I have the diagrams and everything needed if I could just get a little assistance on this one if anyone has any ideas. Thanks

Motorcycle battery was not charging while riding, bike died out?

Your stator is shot. The bike was running off of the battery. The bike wont charge when its running if the stator goes out, but if you charge the battery, it will start and run off the battery until its drained. Replace the stator, and it will recharge it.

EDIT:Yes, it can fail without any signs or warnings... A fully charged battery can run it for awhile. You dont want it to die in the middle of nowhere, so dont ride it until you get it looked at. Be sure you check the output voltage at the battery with a multimeter. It should be reading 14.8vdc +or - .5vdc WITH THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS ON. If its anything lower than than that, its not charging correctly.

EDIT: NO...its your stator. If your bike was running, and the battery was bad, you would be reading 13.8 + volts while its running. If your reading was 9.25v or anything less than 13.8 Vdc while its running, ITS NOT CHARGING. Your stator is shot.

Can a car battery recharge itself?

No, it will not recharge itself. You either have to jump it off or charge it.

Is leaving your cellphone charging overnight bad for the battery?

Charging Your Smartphone Overnight is Not Dangerous - PriceJugaad UAE BlogWhile a lot of people would say No, but experts think contrary. Nine out ten mobile enthusiasts, technicians, developers, and engineers will say that it is not a problem to charge your phone overnight. We actually underestimate our smartphones, when indeed our smartphones are actually smart. Every smartphone today comes with a built-in battery charge detector, which keeps tracking the charging levels continuously; and once the battery reaches 100%, it cuts off the charge to battery and switches to AC power, and doesn’t use battery power to run. The device will then switch to battery power the second charging is cut-off.This is might not hold true for devices that are 15 years older or more, but perfectly hold true for devices that are manufactured 10 years ago.To be on the safer side, always keep your phone away from your head at night. It is preferable to keep it at least 5-6 feet away. This helps keep the microwave radiations away from your brain helping you sleep well. It is also advisable to not use the device while charging as this not only affects the quality of charge the phone is receiving but also causes the device to heat up unnecessarily which is very bad for the health of the battery.
