Did gerard way write the song cancer for his friend who had cancer?
No, he didn't... It's supposed to tie into the story that the whole album is based on. The Patient, the main character in The Black Parade story, is a man, not too old, but he's dying/dead from cancer before his time. The song Cancer is just supposed to explain that, and also describe how The Patient is feeling about dying from cancer at such a young age.

In "U Saved Me" r kelly mentions about how he had a car accident..cancer..etc..and he says "true story" at the begginning and I wanna know did it really happen in his life? Also he mentions in "Prayer Changes" about his life in college, playing basketball and all that. Did it really happen to him?
Songs about being scared of dying?
I was recently diagnosed with cancer and would like to hear some songs about being scared of dying and death in general. I know it sounds silly but it'll help me cope. I want to relay the message that I am scared.
What songs did you write about being a survivor?
The first song I wrote about being in cancer treatment is called Weigh Me Down. A couple others that specifically deal with that time are Lived to Tell the Story and Your Luck is Going to Change, but I ended up writing an entire record about the experience called Stars & Curses.When I first was diagnosed, I’d spent the better part of a decade chasing record deals, not getting one, and being told by a & r people that I didn’t have a hit song. I’d lost my confidence, I’d lost my passion and I’d lost my way. Whatever I did was never enough, and I was miserable with the whole thing. I actually was relieved when I got sick because there was no way to keep chasing it down. Now I could just do something easier and go get a regular job and get paid for it, every week no less. But over the course of a year where I wasn’t able to do much besides pick up a guitar, writing songs became a lifeline.Being a cancer survivor is still a major topic for me in my songwriting because it’s made me what I am now. I can’t go back to being who I was. And the experience was so transformative that I think I could probably spend a lifetime writing about what happened in one way or another and not run out of material.
