Do you have any suggestions as to what laptop I should get? (IB student)

Yes you can use your Mac. I have been using my Mac for IB affairs as well. From what I understand the Question Bank is a Windows only application. But that should not hinder you from using your Mac.Check out Wineskin: Wineskin: play your favorite Windows games on Mac OS X without needing Microsoft WindowsIt has helped me greatly with many applications that do not run on Windows. ( I don't game anymore so I don't know about gaming if you are interested in that) Anyway, be sure to also check some tutorials on how to download it: This should help you with your installation.

Any laptop suggestions?

I'm looking for a laptop that can run IMVU like a Apple Macbook Pro 15-Inch can, and run PS1 emulated games smoothly, and run FL Studio with little to no problems. Problem with my old Windows laptop (HP Stream 14) was lack of memory/space. Windows took up all of the space and when asked to lower my disk space there was nothing I could delete. I now have a Apple Macbook Pro 15-inch and that seems perfect minus the fact it doesn't support flash through IMVU, and doesn't support FL Studios plus it's a school laptop and I don't want anything strange happening to it.

Which is the best, HP, Dell, or Samsung laptops? I need suggestions on which laptop to buy.

My wife determined she needed a new laptop to replace her old and bulky Dell so she asked me to do some research. I’ve been a Macbook user for 10 years and I’ve been out of touch with the PC hardware market so I told her, “Don’t worry, I got a guy!”. I called my friend in our corporate IT department and he suggested Lenovo and advised me to steer clear of Dell. Not that there aren’t other good brands and/or models within mid to higher priced brand models but my company has an employee discount program with Lenovo. After checking things out every which way from Sunday we ended up buying a Yoga 920 which is a beautiful real nice, small and lightweight hybrid device, meaning it doubles as a touch screen tablet. The build quality is fantastic and it comes with a very minimum amount of bloatware. So decide what it is you need a laptop to do. That will help you determine how much horsepower and disk storage you need. Then begin to price them out and see what fits in your budget. Then check the reviews of what’s on your shortlist from multiple web sites and make your decision. If you’re a student make sure to take advantage of any student pricing offered.

What are some laptop suggestions that have an Intel i7 processor and cost less than $1000?

Your first requirement is slightly ambiguous. Intel has two varieties of its 4th generation Haswell line of Core i7 processors, the standard ones (quad core) and the ultra-low voltage ones (dual core). The standard quad core models like the 4700MQ, 4800MQ, etc have a higher TDP (~47W and above). This guarantees good CPU performance, but at the price of more power consumption. Of course, Turbo Boost takes care of this trade-off to a good degree. The ULV line consists of dual core models such as the 4500U, which have a really low TDP of 15W. This implies great power saving capabilities but with a limited processing power. To put things in perspective, the ULV Haswell Core i7 will have a really hard time keeping up with a standard Haswell (and even Ivy Bridge) core i5 versions. By standard, I mean the normal TDP values. Now, if you want a laptop with really powerful processing capabilities (of the level of the 'Core i7' hype), then you should stick to the standard quad core versions. If you desire a laptop with moderate processing power coupled with excellent battery life, then you can opt for the ULV flavours.Laptops with standard Haswell Core i7 processors such as the HP Envy 15 J048, Lenovo Y510p, Late 2013 Apple Macbook Pro 15, Alienware M14X (and higher), some Asus offerings will definitely not fit in the budget of $1000.However, you could go for the Dell Inspiron 15 (5537, or 7537 model number) which sports a Haswell ULV Core i7 4500U around the specified budget. For significant processing power, you have to increase your budget.
