I Need Some Help With My Novel

Need help with the novel "A separate Peace"?

God are they still making kids read that old thing. Two ways to handle this. There must be one million papers on this thing on crib sites on the Internet put the title in your browser and go. Or buy one from some upper class student in your school.
Did you actually read the thing?

The climax is when the kid falls out of the tree.
Or you can shock your teacher and write a paper called "Did he Jump or was he Pushed?"

Help me with writing my novel - I need characters and names made up from creative people like you! Please help?

I am doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and my stroy is about dragons. I need some help with my characters -
If you are creative, you could make up names that would fit unisex dragons or male or female. They need to be weird - some examples I've gotten so far:
Twill, Floengr, Glacius, etc.
Also, I need you to make up characters for me. I'll put you in the credits for my book if I like you character(s).
Requirements and Guidelines. Tell me:
The dragon's name
The dragon's gender
What color or colors this dragon is
What element they were made from (water, fire, Ice, plants, etc.)
What their poison does to a human (ex. causes hallucinations, numbs you, etc.)

Try to be as creative as possible, and the more answers I get, the better my story will be. It you want to read my synopsis, go to

Thanks for the help!

What software can help me proofread my novel?

Both Autocrit and Pro Writing Aid can help with proofreading. There are others such as Grammarly but I have no experience of those.Autocrit is purely web based. Pro Writing Aid is both web based and available as an add-on for word. They are both better than Word for finding mistakes in grammar and spelling. They will also tell you overused words, repeated sentence starts, over use of adjectives, passive voice, pacing etc. Both are configurable to a degree to make them flexible. I use both programs as they are good at finding different things. Have a look at the websites as many allow you to upload short passages and check them for free.I would disagree with Joseph that they can't make a substantial contribution, though they are not foolproof and having a human or two cast their eyes over your work will always be of benefit. However, it will cost you a lot less using an editor if a lot of the proofreading has already been done.

1) Think about Holden's vision of the nature of childhood and adulthood. Are the two realms as separate as Holden believes them to be? Where does he fit in?
This is the main one I am having trouble with. If anyone has some suggestions or any help at all that would be greatly appreciated.

Where can i buy light novels here in the philippines...please help, its badly needed?

Define light novels. My favorite bookstore is fully booked. Best selection out there. Lots of good comic books there too. (Yeah I'm a comic book geek. :-) ) If you like stuff like Neil Gaiman, you're better off looking here. There teen section is also great.

National is by far the most common bookstore, but many branches are not that well stocked with a good selection. Power books has better selection. National owns Power Books and they have the same price.

When I finish writing my novel, will I need to hire a proofreader, an editor, or both?

That depends. Are you looking to have the novel published, either by a traditional publisher or self-publish? Or do you want to find an agent and go after the big deals? In all those cases I would at the very least find some qualified beta readers. If you plan to self-publish you definitely need to have the novel professionally edited. No author, no matter how good they are, can see the errors in their own work. Even professional editors have others check their work. But a good editor is not cheap. But they can make the difference between a turd and an enjoyable, saleable book.I have never self published. And I can't afford a bad editor let alone a good one but I do have my work reviewed in critique groups and read by beta readers. I send the most polished work I can to my publisher then work with the assigned editor to improve the novel. The only time I wouldn't suggest any of this is if the book is just for your pleasure with no expectation of selling it to anyone but family and friends.Do remember, no first draft, no matter how brilliant you think it is, is ready for publication.
