I Never Wear My Hair Down

I never wear my hair down?

Dude, I'm like you too. But, it's all about habit. Use a headband so it's out of your face and try it for 21 one days. (that's how long it takes to create a habit). You'll be wearing it down in no time. Plus, less breakage from rubberbands-your hair will be healthier. Cheers!

I NEVER wear my hair down! Help?

I'm 15, almost 16. I have an ovalish face and straight hair about 2-3 inches below my shoulders with layers and side bangs. I wear my hair up in a ponytail literally 24/7. I never wear it down because I feel so uncomfortable but I do look better when it's down! How can I force myself to wear it down? And half up half down isn't what I'm looking for, even if its for a slow start. I just want to be able to wear it completely down with nothing in it. Anybody have any ideas on how I can get myself to do this? Or anything that will make me want to wear it down? Should I get a haircut? I'd be open for that I guess...though it didn't fit in a ponytail I'd feel so insecure..but then again it'd get me out of my comfort zone and I'd be forced to wear it down. I don't know!!! Help please??

How can I get used to wearing my hair down?

Hi JasmineIt sounds like your hair must be very pretty! People wanting to touch it must be awkward. Just back away. And it is OK to say no. It’s your hair. :-)in getting used to wearing long hair down, you develop a new set of habits to protect your hair. for instance, Whenever I sit in a chair, first I pull my hair over my shoulder to the front. this protects the ends from the chair back Also getting in your car, to drive, you pull it over your right shoulder (in the US) and keep it held out while you fasten your seatbelt. These things are awkward at first, but you get used to it.If your hair tangles easily and you find that your hair is being damaged by wearing it down, you can opt for protective styles such as braids & buns. google youtube hair bun (or braid) how to, and there will be lots of great visual instructions. A good starter bun is the Lazy Wrap bun. This bun uses hair sticks instead of elastics and bobby-pins. Here is one good tutorial, which leads to more.Long hair gives you styling options that are only limited by your available time & skills.Have fun!Pam

I'm afraid to wear my hair down :/ help?

I'm 15, almost 16 years old. I have an ovalish face and straight hair about 2-3 inches below my shoulders with layers and side bangs. I NEVER wear my hair down. Literally it's up in a ponytail 24/7, even while I'm sleeping. I don't even wear it down just in front of family and friends because I feel so uncomfortable. The thing is though, I really want to be able to wear my hair down because I look so much better that way, but I feel so insecure and uncomfortable! And plus, if I were to wear it down I absolutely HATE all the attention I get with people saying "woah! You're wearing your hair down!!" Like I just don't like it when people say stuff like that. I dunno what to do!!! How can I force myself to wear it down? Half up half down doesn't get me used to it either :/ should I get a haircut that won't allow me to wear a ponytail?? Idk if I'd be able to even say that to the hairdresser though. What should I do?? Thanks in advance for your help!

I am afraid to wear my curly hair down? HELP!?

This may sound weird but I never wore my hair down in public. I just started middle school and all my friends have straight hair and I'm the only one with the curly big hair. I have a product to tame frizz but I just can't wear my hair down because I'm afraid it might frizz during class or P.E and I will be humiliated. One of my friends said I would look good with my hair down and they wish they had my hair. Please come up with so advice as soon as possible thank you.

How can I learn to leave my hair down?

Hi. It's a little difficult for me to give you the best suggestions possible without seeing your hair. You said you feel that it's frizzy, and you have wispy hair around your face, so I'm going to assume it's thick and wavy or curly? I urge you to start wearing it down as much as you can. That way, you won't feel self conscious by the time school starts, as your friends will  most likely notice, especially if it's true that you never wear it down. The goal is not just to feel less uncomfortable, but for you to really like your hair, and enjoy all  the attention, instead of feeling embarassed! I suggest you  start looking for hairstyles  in magazines. Online, search for hairstyles with your similar hair type, as that will ensure you choose something that will be realistic for you to style yourself at home. (Ex. "styles for thick, wavy hair," etc.) Save any pictures of styles you like, make an appointment with a professional hairstylist, and bring the pictures with you. I strongly encourage a good haircut. You can still keep it long, but it will give your hair some shape,  and the stylist can also give you advice on fixing it at home it. If that isn't an option, make sure you're not overwashing it, (shampooing everyday, or every other day) as this contributes to dryness and frizz. At first your hair might feel oily, but it will adjust. I only wash mine 1-2 times a week! Invest in a hydrating conditioner, and some "de-frizz" serum. Almost every haircare line has one. Put it on your hair after the shower, when it's wet, and comb it rhough. Try not to touch your hair until it's almost dry. Touching it too much as it's drying also creates frizz. If you like, once it's dry, you can add a little more serum on to the frisky parts, but use sparingly; or buy a good straightening iron or large curling iron, and practice smoothing it out in sections. By the time you go start college, you will be a pro, and everyone you meet will only know you as someone with beautiful flowing hair!

Should I let my hair down?

Unless there's some school rule that you have to have it tied into a pony tail (Eg in sports activities it may get in your face in some circumstances) then it's up to you.Do you like the look of it and the feel of it? Then do what you think. For every odd person laughing because you look different to before there will be others who like the new look. Who are you going to listen to? Yourself. If you like the look and feel, then have the courage to be who you want to be.And anyway, you can always put it back into a pony tail some days if it's more convenient or you want a change. Or put it up into a bun. Or whatever. Unless you have cut it very short, you've got a lot of options to play with. Why not explore them?

My boyfriend tells me to wear my hair down?

My boyfriend always wants me to wear my hair down. If I wear it a different way he always tells me to take it down and I always say no and then he'll bug me about it until I do it; or if I don't, he won't shut up. I'll ask him what the problem is and he'll say nothing and then I'll be like, then why does it matter so much? It just really bothers me because then I don't feel 'pretty' for him. Sure I like his hair certain ways too, but I never say anything because I like him for him and not his looks. Sometimes if I wear it in a bun or pony tail he will pull it out when I don't notice and I'll be like what's the problem? Then we well be out (idk like the mall) and we will pass by people and he'll be like "why don't you do your hair like that, etc" and It bothers me because I want him to not care what I look like. I'll straighten my hair and if I do that particular hairstyle for awhile he will tell me I should do something different next time. He tells me his favorite hairstyle is when I curl it, but my hair is like pin straight and it takes forever to do it and I don't like it that much. When I tell him this is argues differently. Most of you are probably going to tell me to dump him, but I knew him since I was like 8 and we're not only going out, but we're best friends and have a really close relationship. This is the only thing that is bothering me about our relationship and I want to fix it because I've never been this close to someone before and I know he loves me, but It's just this one thing. What can I say to him when he tells me this stuff to make him stop? Or should I just keep wearing my hair up until he accepts it? I want him to accept me for me, and not my looks, but I don't know how to make him stop? Please, does anyone know? Thanks!
