I No Longer Have A Difference In My Read And Unread Emails. How Do I Fix That

How do I make unread emails read on Yahoo! Mail?

OMG!!! Why would you have 6000 emails that you never bothered to open?? If they are junk mail, you should have deleted them as you received them. If they are in your Spam folder, you don't need to do a thing. In fact you rarely even need to open that folder. Yahoo empties that and the Trash folder for us periodically, so we don't need to open, read or delete. There is no way to just mark them read. You should probably consider deleting most (if not all) of them. If you think some are important enough to save, you should look through them and just delete. Many you probably wouldn't have to open to determine if you want them. If they aren't from someone you know, just mark them for deletion. If they are emails from friends that you never opened... those people have probably grown tired of not getting responses from you by now and are no longer your friends.

If in your In Box and you are using Yahoo! mail Classic, you can only click that top box to delete one page at a time. You can delete ALL at once if you are using All-New mail, or if you switch to All-New mail. You can switch, if necessary, to All_New just to delete all, then switch back to Classic if you wish. To switch, click Options on the upper right of your mail window and choose All-New to switch. Then click the top box to select all emails in your In Box, click "Delete". That will delete all. Then switch back to Classic the same way.

Again, if in the Spam folder... do nothing. They all go away eventually. The folder fills up again... Yahoo continues to delete periodically.

If you really want to keep those 6,000 emails and have them appear as read, all you can do is open each one. It seems very unlikely that anyone would really want to keep that many emails.

Why are my unread emails are no longer bold? I can't tell what I've read.?

This is one of the many glitches going on with Yahoo at this time. Many others have the same issue. Yahoo has been working on the sites causing many problems. They will return to Bold soon. Yahoo is aware of all these problems. As you probably noticed you can't use the auto complete at this time. Another problem they are working on. Also the search feature isn't working.

Among the emails I have any intention of ever reading: zero.At the moment I also have zero emails in my inbox that are read, but that I still need to respond to or otherwise do something about. That’s not the norm though, usually there’s something between 3 and a dozen messages in the inbox that I still have to deal with in some way.I have thousands of emails from Quora that are auto-filtered into a separate mailbox that I have no intention of ever reading, I have those because Quoras search sucks, and because there’s no mechanism on Quora for exporting any of my content. This way I can easily search all the comments and messages I get on Quora, and I get to keep them even if for some reason I decide to no longer use Quora.I haven’t read those because that’s not the point of having them. Instead the point is to be able to answer questions like: “What was the first time commented on one of my answers?” or “When did I first talk to Clare about dinosaurs?”, Gmail built-in search makes such questions easy to find answers to, while the same cannot be said for the search here at Quora.

Chat/Hangout  messages are only available in the standard Gmail interface, not in any mobile interfaces or POP/IMAP.You should only get unread chat notifications if you have Gmail set to use Chat and the messages come in when you are offline.  If you switch to Hangouts in Gmail, you will stop getting the notifications in Gmail. Whether you switch Gmail or not, you can get the chat messages on the phone if you install the Hangouts app.

My inbox shows I have unread mail, even though I have read all of them...Why?

Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And the "phantom" e-mails is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. Their "tech support" is nothing but a joke right now. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems.
I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the whole time. If you don't have another acct.w/another provider besides Yahoo, I'd strongly advise to get one; it makes a good backup in case of problems like this.
Please see my posting from Fri. Jan. 12 under the heading "Anyone having problems of any kind w/Yahoo Mail, PLEASE READ THIS" for more info and on reporting problems to Yahoo.
And since that original posting, they've also sent another e-mail that they've escalated the problem (or should I say problems!) to their engineering department, which is an indication of major problems, and not just a minor S/W "glitch."

Why is Yahoo showing I have unread mail when I do not?

First the inbox total located just to the right of INBOX in parentheses
is normally the total of all the messages still in your inbox that have
not been read....Hovering your pointer over INBOX will give you the
total of all of your emails in the inbox including those that have not
been read. That will only change when you delete a message.
When they are all read and it still indicates...usually (1)....RIGHT
click on the curved arrow to the right of the number .... you can bring
up the curved arrow by hovering your pointer in the blank area to the
right of INBOX.... for all other folders just RIGHT click on the folder
and then click on MARK ALL READ and it should
disappear. When you LEFT click on the curved arrow it checks for new emails.

The other folders email totals are in parentheses beside the name.

If not, just hover your pointer over the folder name and the message total
will display.

NOTE: You can easily check to see if you missed some unread email by
clicking on SORT BY DATE above your inbox emails and then
click on UNREAD MESSAGES in the drop down menu.
This will bring all of your Unread emails to the top.
=======================================...
You also have the option of clicking on the new UNREAD folder
in the Smart View area on the left side of your email page
If you do not see the folders below Smart Views click
on the arrow on the left side of it.

In case you are not aware unless
you choose a Best Answer no one will get credit for
answering it....so.....Please
once your question has been posted for at least 1 hour
and has at least one good answer return to the Yahoo
question/answer site. Click on your Avatar(photo) Your
questions should be displayed. Click on this question
and then click on AWARD BEST ANSWER below
your chosen answer, give it a star rating....then click
on SUBMIT.
Many thanks from all of us out here.

New emails are no longer showing up as bold. It's hard to tell the new from older emails. How to fix this?

Sometime in October, the new emails coming into my Yahoo mail email stopped being bold. Now it is really hard to tell which emails I've read and those I haven't. How can I change it back? I have scoured all the help areas and this question isn't listed anywhere. I haven't upgraded to any different versions. Thanks.

I know this is old, but I found a couple of google hangouts old conversations in my Inbox were the cause for me. I upgraded to the new Gmail web version on Chrome, then filtered search for all unread and there were the two ghost messages in the form of old Google hangout conversations. None of the other suggestions I found online worked, like select all mark all as unread, then mark all again as unread, or turning mail app off, reboot, and back on. I also note, for me the ghost unread messages would show up on native iPhone mail app, on Gmail iPhone app, and on webmail too.
