At first thought I would say no, searching for someone on Skype will not directly notify them on LinkedIn that you did so.However, the Microsoft Skype Terms of Services state:“Microsoft uses the data we collect to provide you with rich, interactive experiences. In particular, we use data to:Provide our products, which includes updating, securing, and troubleshooting, as well as providing support. I really don't think you want a "personalized" response if you think it through. And I would not rely solely on friends or family. Even if they endeavor to be honest, as your friends and family they will have shared many of your life experiences and values, so they will see the world largely as you see it. Thus it won't be objective. It will be largely consistent with your own views and sentiments. They can be helpful in some ways -- I have certainly benefited from having my spouse and teenage children read my work -- but that is mostly for editing and general story arch. So they are helpful but only a piece of the feedback I need.I suggest you submit your work to an online writing workshop such as Critique Circle Online Writing Workshop, which has free options. There you will get objective, anonymous feedback on your short stories or novel chapters. You'll generally get 5 - 10 reviews of your work. To submit you generally have to read and critique 2 or 3 other submissions. See the site for the specific info.If you have not been in a writing workshop before, give it some thought before you jump in. They can be hugely helpful, but also painful. A friend and I only communication through text messages. We have some very interesting texts, about how we feel for one another and etc. Does anyone think that this communication will progress into a something further or just a deadend.
