I Pierced My Own Bellybutton A Few Days Ago. I Have No Signs Of Infection But There Is Something On

What is the best way to treat an infected belly button piercing?

Best advice is to consult your piercer, they typically will take care of you until the piercing has fully healed.  If you can move your torso around, touch or bump the jewelry and not scream in awful pain, it is likely that it is not infected but instead, irritated.  Without seeing the piercing and discharge, I am unable to give a more clear answer.  I can tell you from my personal experience, though, that I had a genital piercing which took 9 months to fully heal.  During the healing period, I followed all after-care procedures to the letter and it became irritated three times.  It was slightly red and irritated and oozing a ton of clear/whiteish lymph.  Each of those three times, I consulted my piercer who took one look at it and immeidately said, "It's not infected, it's irritated, just continue with your aftercare and leave it alone until it heals."  On my third visit, he volunteered the information above, that if you can touch or move the jewelry without doubling over in pain, it's likely not infected.  Here is another resource for you:  How to Tell if a Piercing Is Infected

What do I need to know before I get a belly button piercing?

A traditional belly-button piercing is in the top half of the navel. A piercer creates a star or square shape by piercing the upper and lower lips of the navel along with two or more surface piercings on the sides of the navel. But belly-button piercings aren’t for everyone: You need to have the proper “navel anatomy.” The top flap of the navel must have enough room for the piercing to hang inside the navel without pressure from the top or bottom. If you don’t have room on the top flap, piercing the bottom flap instead may be an option. A professional piercer will ask you to sit down and bend over to determine if a navel piercing is right for your body.If you have a belly button that closes, or “winks,” when you sit down, piercing is usually not an option. The pressure caused by the top and bottom of the navel meeting when you sit can cause irritation to the piercing and force the jewelry to migrate.Health Risks of Belly-Button PiercingsA bacterial infection at the site of the piercing is the most common risk. The risk of a bacterial infection is even higher if you have certain pre-existing medical conditions, such as diabetes or a weakened immune system or if the piercer uses unsterile equipment. While ear or lip piercings usually heal in about 6 to 8 weeks, the healing period for a navel piercing is much longer -- about six months to one year. How to Care for a Belly-Button PiercingCheck your piercing daily for any signs of irritation, swelling or redness. For the first few days after your piercing, it's normal for a belly-button piercing to ooze some discharge, but if it continues for more than a week, consult your piercing studio or a doctor as soon as possible.Removing or Changing a Belly-Button JewelryWhen you remove your piercing for the first time, make sure you follow a few basic steps:1. Don't remove the belly button jewelry until after it has completely healed; if you don't, removing it could cause the hole to shrink or close.2. Wash your hands, the piercing and belly button area.3. Twist or slide the piercing back and forth to make sure your skin hasn't adhered to the piercing. If it doesn't move freely or you experience any pain, you should go back to your piercer and have them remove it.4. If you're able to remove the piercing without pain or difficulty, make sure you wash the piercing site AND the new piercing before inserting it.

Piercing my belly button on my own?

YES GO FOR IT.
i am sick 2 death of ppl tellin other ppl 2 get it dun by a professional in a tattoo studio,.
they hav pierced other ppls skin...
AND THEY SPREAD GERMS
it is so dangerous.
what u can catch
so nobody say it is dangerous 4 her 2 do it herself an go 2 a professional coz goin 2 a professional is disgusting and dirty. and this girl wil b more in the risk of catching diseases.
just sterilise the tools and go for it. make sure you do it perfectly i the right place.
i think tattoo studios and body piercing studios shouldnt be allowed. they dnt properly sterilis the tools. and so many ppl catch things like HIV and HEPITITIS. it is SICK.
do it ureself. y r these ppl telin u 2 go 2 a proffesional and use tools they hav used on other ppl- i think that is a LOT more dangerous and risky rather than duin it yaself at home with your own equipment/needle

I got my belly button pierced a few months ago and it still isn’t healed!?

My belly button is still slightly red at the top(the redness has gotten better lately) and I keep having keloids forming on the bottom hole. There is now a scab on the bottom hole. I have used H2O spray, soaks, and tried other things but nothing has worked and there continues to be some white-ish drainage when the piecing is moved. There has never been any pain though!

Can you die from a belly button piercing?

i know tons of people that peirce their own belly buttons... i don't think you can die from it. as long as you take care of it and make sure it doesn't get infected then it should be just like getting it done professionally. i got mine done last week...you got a lot of balls to do it to yourself!

Pierce your own belly button?

eeeeeeeeeek

I did that once a looooooong time ago. It worked but it did get infected but however, I really did keep it clean and my jeans kept rubbing on it, but then when didnt have the low rise jeans back then either lol.

If you are going to do it anyway. Use one of those starter earrings. Like the ones you get when you get your ears pierced for the first time. It has a very sharp post. Use some ice and start pushing it thru. You'll have to stop a few times bc of the pain, but just keep putting ice on it.

I would suggest getting it done tho if you are planning on having this for a long time. I pierced my own ears about 6 times and they turned out fine, bc I took care of them. I did this the same way as explained above!

Good luck
