I Ran From The Repo Man And Got Away Do I Have To Worry About Hiding From Police Or Just The Repo

I ran from the repo man and got away do I have to worry about hiding from police or just the repo man?

I got my car when I had a better job and I no longer have that job and can not make my payments. Last night the repo man found me and tried to block my car in after some effort I got out and had room to run I lost him and went and hid the car. 20 minutes after I lost him he called me and said that he called the police and said I hit his car in the process of getting out(they blocked me on my left hand side with the tow truck and and behind me with his personal vehicle in front of me was a building and to my right was another car) and that if I returned the car he wouldn't press charges, I figured that if I did hit his car there would be damage to my vehicle there wasn't even a scratch. I called my grandpa(that's who's house I was at when they found me) and he said after I left a policeman did come and talk to the tow truck driver but did nothing else. Could I be wanted for leaving the seen of an accident and if so will that be a problem for me out of state or only where this occurred?

Can a repo man open your gate and take your car?

First let me say my father in law has gotten sick, and had 2 strokes. My husband and I have since then have been taking care of him. Because of this my husband lost his job and we have been struggling ever since trying to do the right thing.

That being said this morning on our security system I saw someone open our gate (recorded on camera) and start to back in our driveway. My husband quickly ran out closed and chain locked the gate. Sadly it was the repo man.

Legally can they open the gate? Do we have the right to sue?

Also we are in the middle of filing bankruptcy and thought the hefty monthly payments we've made the past two months covered the car payment. So we don't understand why the repo man still came. Obviously that is a question for my lawyer but might play into answers.

Thank you in advance!

Can a dealership report the car stolen if the insurance ran out.?

I recently purchased a new car and my insurance ran out now the dealership is threaten to have my car reported stolen. They leave me messages on my machine and everything

Can i change my cars VIN# to get out of paying?

If you could no longer afford to make the payments how are you going to afford to alter the VIN? The money that you would spend to alter the car is probably more than the money you owe the bank. The VIN appears on every piece of sheet metal on the car, It's on the frame it's on the motor, it's on the transmission. It's on the dash.

The VIN is on each of these locations.
Firewall of the vehicle
Radiator Support Bracket
Dash by windshield
Left hand inner wheel arch
Steering column
Guarantee & Maintenance Book
Machined Pad on front of engine
Drivers door or post on passenger side
Component parts as listed above -e.g.- engine, frame, etc.
Left instrumentation panel
Dash plate by window
Drivers door or post
Firewall

Along with te cost of altering every single location the VIN appears you would also have to paint the car. A decent paint job is going to cost you $2500.

If you can no longer afford the car note, how are you going to pay for all of this illegal activity?

What happens after 90 days if you don't pay Rent-A-Center?

What happens after 90 days if you don't pay Rent-A-Center?My idiot older son just had an encounter with Rent-A-Center after not paying his fees. And it doesn’t take 90 days for RAC to take action. The first business day the payment was late, RAC began calling him.A few days after that, an RAC truck pulled up to my house because he’d told them he lived with me. I made his payment for him because he wasn’t answering my calls, either.According to the manager I talked to when I made the payment, if they don’t get a payment or cannot pick up the rented items in the 5 business days after the payment is missed, the new company policy is to file a stolen merchandise complaint with the police. That means at some point, a nice policeman would be knocking on my door, looking for my son. I did warn him that if that happened, I WOULD tell the nice policeman where to find him. (He was living in an extended stay hotel at the time.)

What if you steal a car and cross the Mexican border? Can you still get arrested?

Okay as someone who travels allot to Baja California and I have a weekend apartment down there I can answer this but there will be allot of questions in my Answer too many assumptions in the answers below. There is allot of “Chocolate” cars in Baja, that means cars that never become nationalized and run around for years in Tijuana with old California plates. Some are people who live in Tijuana and work in the USA others are those who bought the car cheap and know they pay small bribes if they are pulled over unless its a SAT (research terminology) checkpoint then they would have to produce paperwork and failing to do so gets it impounded (no they cannot be bought off). Other people finance a car here and never pay and hide it in Tijuana since really no repo company here can operate over there and it is costly for them to arrange something to get the car back (can be done though but rarely is) . Technically those never get reported stolen. Buying false Mexican registration and paperwork would be best bet but then remember Police agency computers are networked across the world so if you are wanted or the VIN ran then you have a problem. Also how much you stand out makes a difference luckily foreigners are a common site in border towns. My question is are you assuming that you have stolen the vehicle and are being chased by the cops? then you will never get across if you do then you will be immediately arrested by Mexican Authorities and promptly deported unless you are a Mexican Citizen you can fight it but likely will lose. If you stole it and drive across and are not caught then much less likely realistically depends on how diligent you are and what you do. If there is a warrant out for you then be careful remember computers are networked, social media is tracked.-Note Too many people assume Mexico has no controls in place over its border and that anyone can just walk across or drive in. This is no longer the case if you cross in a border state using the pedestrian crossing you now must produce a passport or passport card and there will be a brief check on whether you can be admitted. A state ID or drivers license is no longer acceptable you can be let in but that is at the discretion of SAT. Driving across if you flagged for inspection you must produce valid ID and there is talk that in the future they will standardize the vehicle entry with the pedestrian.
