I Read Incredibly Slowly

Slow read (PS2)?

My old PS2 has always worked fine but I think yours maybe a little tweaky inside. You should clean your disc and take your ps2 to a store to get fixed or fix it yourself. Some ps2 games have problems like that but since you said its not the disc I think that the new ps2 games or dual-layered discs dont eork on old ps2s like you said. The ps2 is probably broken down on those games.

If you can get another ps2 if you really care about it or get a 80gb PS3. And if you played it on the other ps2 then where did you get that one. Just play it on the other PS2 or take it to be fixed.

Hope that helped

Is it bad that I read slow?

For the thousandth time (lol), I'm a freshman in high school. I'm smart, not to brag, but whenever I have to read something out of a textbook or whatever, I have to read slow, or read it a few times, or else I won't get it. I had to drop English honors because of this. Is this a bad thing? I know everyone is different, but still... Also, I'm in 2 other honors classes; World Geography honors and Biology honors. I also don't have studying problems.

Also, don't leave any rude or immature comments just because I read slow, or I will block you.

I read very slow. How do I increase my reading speed in English literature?

Do not focus on speed . Let the focus be on comprehension, or your understanding of the text. In time, speed will improve.Enjoy your reading. Observe the writing process. It is alright if it takes you more than a month, or even two, to finish a book.

Is slow reading a sign of low intelligence?

Not necessarily. It often means that the individual simply isn't as good at reading as with something else. For example, my father is a very poor reader, but he can fabricate practically anything in a machine shop, which I can't do.

How does a slow reader become fast at reading?

The main reasons people’s reading speeds are slow are because subvocalization and straying.Subvocalization. In order to become a faster and better reader, you must rid yourself of subvocalization. Subvocalization is what I refer to as “the voice in your head”. Essentially, the majority of readers learn to read by pronouncing words in their head or out loud when they’re younger. They’re told to “say” words in their mind first before reading. But, this greatly slows you down. To test yourself for subvocalizing, grab any (harder) article and read. If you hear yourself saying the words in your head, you are subvocalizing. Ideally, you want to read without hearing voices. To minimize subvocalizing, grab a pen or use your finger to follow the text. This will prevent your eyes from straying to other words and help youDistract your mouth/mind by chewing on a piece of gum while you read. This keeps you busy and prevents you from subvocalizing.Practice ‘speed reading’, also known as spreading. Speed reading prevents you from subvocalizing because words are going at such a fast pace. The Spreeder app is one of the most popular speed reading apps. Spreeder uses RSVP (rapid serial visual presentation) to quickly flash words on your screen, like a treadmill, but with words as the conveyor belt. You can change settings to have aiding clicks/sound effects and change the speed of the words. Start at a standard speed of about 250 words per minute, then slowly move up. If you work on this for at least 30 minutes a day, you can greatly augment your speed, to double (500 words per minute) or even triple (750) your original speed. Within a few months (of daily practice), I was able to reach a reading speed of 850 words per minute, and a vocal speed of 380. To give you a better idea, debaters (who speak faster than auctioneers) reach speeds anywhere betweeen 350–500 words per minute (La Jolla RP vs. University DB) .Lastly, as many others have mentioned, just practice reading more.[1] Best Speed Reading AppsBest of luck!

I read extremely slow and get distracted easily by my thoughts. How can I begin to read fast again while understanding what I am reading?

Fast again - implies you once read quickly and now don't. That would be a puzzle if that's the case - which I doubt. Reading slowly - reading 'extremely slow' as you say suggests that you're not reading phonetically and - not everyone does and not everyone can. People who can't benefit from some help - which you could give yourself - but - there's no quick fix for 'extremely slow' reading. There's no switch to throw that turns someone from a slow reader to a fast reader. That you get distracted is normal - people who read slowly do get distracted it goes hand in hand. You might do well to get books on tape - there are textbooks on tape and you might get through the material more quickly and with much less distraction by using audio books. And certainly consider that for now because the way to read faster is to engage in daily reading practice - 30 minutes - in easy books. Find the level of reading that feels easy to you - where most if not all of the vocabulary is familiar to you and then - read. Just like a runner training for a race, you'll a reader training to read faster and to do that you need to read 30 minutes a day in an easy book. Your 'sight reading' will get faster - but only with that daily practice and even with that - it doesn't happen overnight.

I am a very slow reader because my comprehension is very low.  How do I improve my reading speed and how many months to take improve my reading speed?

Friend, You are not alone. The cool thing is that, unlike many people, you’ve chosen to ask this question and seek ways to improve. Reading was one of my favorite things growing up. After suffering severe brain injuries in a car accident, my ability to read was severely compromised. In elementary school, I read as a college student. At college age, I read as an elementary student. How do you fix it? WORK. Read everything. All the time. If you don’t understand a word, look it up. Take classes on grammar so that you understand what all these little punctuation marks actually mean. Sometimes, understanding what someone is saying is a product of understanding “how” they’re saying it. If you can’t look up a word, look for context clues. If an author calls something “atrocious” and goes on to talk about how bad it is - or why it’s so bad, that gives you a hint. Atrocious isn’t good. When I don’t understand a word, but I don’t want to stop reading, I write it in the margin and look it up when I’m done with that chapter.So. There’s some tips for improvement. Good luck!(By the way, I recovered my reading ability and went on to get honors degrees. I think I read better now than I did before my injuries.)
