Some of the "women" you are chatting with are really old men, some are federal agents looking for pedophiles, some are male Nigerian scammers, and only a very few are really legitimate women. So you might want to think twice. The pictures they will send you are not of themselves. I once got emails from different women, but oddly, the pictures they both sent me of themselves were the same. If you do anything like this you do need a totally fake address with all fake information. You can be sure that any "women" who send you a picture would have done the same. For all they know, YOU are a pedophile/federal agent/Nigerian scammer yourself. So the end result is you have one fake person sending a fake picture to another fake person. Total informational value is zero.
Can people find out your address over Omegle/chatroulette?
You are safe unless they are law enforcement or have access to customer records from your internet provider. ISPs (internet service providers) will not give random people who call them your name and address. Your IP address, while it is technically possible to track to your door, is EXTREMELY difficult for the average person to accomplish. Also, how do you know they told you the correct IP address ? Most people do not know their own IP addresses unless they go to a site such as www.whatismyip.com . ALSO, even though they may have your IP, you can throw them off the track by saying "I'm stealing wireless from my neighbor." In that case, it would be your neighbor's IP address they are getting and not your actual location. For example, when I check www.whatismyip.com and then track that address, it shows up as the middle of my town rather than at my house. Thats a difference of nearly 7 miles which is ALOT of ground to cover in New York. Alot of apartments, and a shizz-load of people. What is the likelyhood that someone would be able to find me in a 7 square mile area? Well, lets calculate those odds. 49 miles x the number of people living within that area and only one lone person looking for me with no aid ? The odds are pretty dammed slim they will ever find me or even get close. Do I feel safe? Absolutely. Do I think that guy was full of crap? yep. Someone is threatening to kill me by finding my address through IP?
I was speaking to someone online, and I don't know why- they seemed very angry. They said they had my IP adress (and it was correct), and they said they were going to find out where I was and kill me. They were very graphic with all the descriptions, and mentioned something about finding out my address in four minutes. They said they would print out the paper and come find me. To be honest I'm slightly concerned. Is what he's claiming actually possible? I haven't done anything to upset him, so if there is any police investigation I would not be in any trouble. He also knows my first name. I disconnected from the chatroom, but I fear he already knows where I live. Should I contact the police? This is not funny at all.

I have already asked this but i may have got the title wrong I have been talking to a girl from australia weve been chatting for 6 months now and she is definetly real and she wants to be penpals so i said why not and she wants to send me a postcard first so ive given her my adress to do so is this safe? Someone in chat room just threatened to kill me?!?
he knows where i live and even knows my bf's name, guess he hacked me. He said he's about to be homeless. could he really come kill me... this stuff happens a lot. Not sure why he even threatened me. He said I was a troll, but all I was doing was talking to him normally. So I'm not sure how he got that I was a troll. He said I was disgusting, diseased, and a c***. Then he knew my name and such so I'm very paranoid- how did he get my name? Plus he has my IP address now, and I am very scared. He can see on a map where I live. He said he has a bunch of ppl who'd help kill me and that I'd go missing, they went into detail and I copied the conversation. All those ppl were threatening me. He said I had no respect. I guess it was messed up I just messaged him, in his mind. I apologized, and said I didn't realize it was wrong to message someone. **IS this legal for them to do this?? **should I be worried and take him seriously, being that he knows my name and address and threatened me?! They all ganged up on me and now my heart is racing.

Is it safe to tell people what state you live in on the internet?
I've mindlessly told people what state I live in on the internet, and most of them know what I look like, my age, and only my first name. I didn't mention what part of the state or what town or county. My mom likes to argue that it's not safe to tell people my state unless I've known them for a couple of years, which most of them I have. My brother likes to argue that we live in a big state with lots of people (over 8 million, actually) and that until I mention my last name, address, town, ETC. it's still going to be impossible to find me. I do watch what I post on the internet and I'm not even trying to look for a boyfriend online. Just trying to talk about common interests with people my age and even a little older. So is what I did safe or not?
How do I find the location of someone I'm chatting with on hangouts?
Unless the person is harassing you to the point where you feel you or your personal information is in danger, you don’t, and should contact law enforcement instead (cyber crimes). If they feel they trust you enough, they’ll give you that information voluntarily. If you continue cyberstalking this person it only makes you look like a creep, and will likely end up with that person hating you. She/he may even report you to the FBI, or your country’s equivalent.
I am Thinking of going to Bogota, Colombia?
OK, I am really disappointed in 2 of the comments especially knowing that one of them came from a Colombian girl. Bogota is a capital city. All capital cities everywhere follow the same lines, lots to do, over crowded, traffic, bars and clubs, culture, and work. Bogota is no different. If you are going to Colombia for the women firstly the hottest ones are in Medellin, ask any Colombian or any one who has been here and knows about my country. Secondly most of girls are really nice, however some are very shallow and believe that going to America and leaving the "dream life" is a realistic possibility if they can find an American guy and convince him to marry her for long enough to get a visa (this is however a very small percent here in Colombia, bar the girl who commented above most of us love our country). Thirdly you need to speak Spanish to really enjoy it and especially if you want to go out and meet people. Lastly ignore the people that said you will get kidnapped for being a tourist, anyone who has an ounce of intelligence knows to stay clear of the problem areas (basic the jungles and tiny towns).
