I Smashed My Finger And Now Its Red Inside Help

Smashed my finger -- under my nail is all black?

It's blood. No big deal for now. Just ice it.

But if it starts throbbing, you might wanna go to a doctor. Or you could release the blood from under your nail by yourself. To do this, you will need a lighter, guaze, a needle, and some rubbing alcohol.

Step one: sterilize the needle and the finger nail with the alcohol.
Step Two: heat the needle up with the lighter.
Step three: apply the needle to the nail at a 90 degree angle. Apply sight pressure.
Repeat steps 2-3 as necessary until you get some blood coming out.

Step four: soak up the blood with the guaze.

Its really not that painful, it actually feels really good because the pressure that is making your finger throb is going away.

I smashed my finger and there was blood stuck inside my nail.?

its ok- nothin serious but now u have to watch the "hole" to make sure u dont develop an infection- redness, swelling, pain/tenderness
in the future- just leave it alone- it will resolve on its own

I smashed my finger what do i do?

I think you've done what you can. You probably bruised underneath the nail and there's a good chance the nail will just fall off and another one will grow back, which isn't painful. You'll probably feel soreness in the bruised finger for a little while, but thats just my guess.

If you are worried about it you should always see a Dr. because not many people on Yahoo will be qualified to give medical advice, including myself.

I smashed my finger, and now its purple and black, what is going to happen to my nail? Will it just heal?

If its purple and black under the nail then it will fall off but a new nail will regrow, if not then there your nail should be fine. However I would recommend getting it checked out by a doctor because it could well be broken and if it heals wrong it could cause problems in later life

Blood under nail and a swollen finger, help!?

Don't take me to court if this goes wrong (it should not do so, really)

I'm talking about a nail, that has red/black spot, the finger is maybe swollen on the end and there clearly is pressure under the nail.

swelling may indicate a fracture, so you may want to show it to a doctor. you'll propably know is the pain the blood pressured, or a fractured bone.

Get a sharp needle, heat it, holding it in pliers / something, and "drill" a hole with the hot, sharp end, trough the nail (not deeper!) , the blood in pressure inside may make a very small "burst" as the pressure is relieved.

Should help immeadetly for the pain. It may help for the nail to stay intact, as the pressured blood tries to escape other routes .

Use clean stuff to do this, but its no major surgery, so a heated needle is enough imho.

Tiny holes on my finger tips!?

So yesterday I noticed that my right pointer finger was turning red, began to hurt a little, and started to swell up at random (NO BUG BITE AND I DIDNT SMASH IT). Today I woke up and all my other fingers began to hurt but only at the cuticle. Now I'm noticing these tiny clear holes/ craters underneath the surface layer of my finger tips and they feel as if they slightly hurt worse. Aside from my one red pointer finger tip on my right hand. What do these small holes mean!? Do I have an infection on them? Is it something that will go away? I'm an artist so I care about my hands very much so so please can anyone help!?

My finger is red and numb due to being crushed in a door. What can I do for it to heal quickly?

Apply ice, give rest, keep the hand elevated, take over the counter analgesic paracetamol 500mg 1 tablet after both major meals. If fracture happened, you can not stay at home. There will be more color changes. The RBC’s in blood is out of blood vessels. The RBC of that blood will be broken down. Yellow, green etc color will appear. If someone die with such injury, we can say how many days ago that injury happened. That is the importance of color changes. If does not go away after 4–5 days or pain/swelling is disproportionate then visit an Orthopaedic surgeon.

How can I remove dried blood under my fingernail?

Yep, wait it out. That is the only thing you can do. You could have the nail removed, or pierced with the needle, but it is doubtful a doctor would do that now. My dogs tooth went under my cuticle about 8 months ago, it had to grow out. The nail was damaged and weak, but it had to grow out on its own. No big deal. Get some pretty colors and polish that bruise away!!

How can I treat a throbbing pain under my fingernail?

Sometimes soaking it in hot salty water can help . The salt can have an effect if there is any small cuts or openings the poor man's antiseptic. The hot water increases blood flow however this increase can raise the pressure and the throbing gets worse. In which case go to the exact opposite end of the spectrum and soak in very cold water. Examine the finger nail area closely to see if there is any build up of blood under the Nail if this is the case a hole must be made to relieve the pressure if you do this yourself use plenty of strong antiseptic and I mean strong under the fingernails is a haven for all sorts of nasty invisible critters. If none of this works a codeine based painkiller is called for and a trip to the quacks. Which fortunately in this country won't cost you a cracker
