I Still Do Not Have My Emails From Before The Outage. I Have An Incident

How do I undo a sent mail after one day?

Now, GMAIL does have a “Enable Undo Send” option that you can set, but it is really a “delay send” feature, and it only works to a very short maximum of 30 seconds. But I do suggest people enable it so that they can cancel something from being sent out right away if they realize they hit “send” when they didn’t mean to.Unfortunately, that won’t help you for an Email that is sent out longer then this.And Gmail which is cloud-based doesn’t have a “Recall” feature like Microsoft Outlook Exchange, so there aren’t really any other options. (And note that the “Recall” feature in Microsoft Outlook Exchange is very limited, doesn’t always work, and only works well within certain corporate environments).I do not believe that Google has any way to “pull an Email” out of someone’s inbox once it has been delivered to them.So, here is one option…Build a time machine…Travel back in time to right before you hit the “Send” button..Make those changes to the Email that you should have done the first time and resend it the way you meant to in the first placeProblem solved!Or next time, think long and hard before you hit the “Send” button..Or contact the person you sent it to and ask them very nicely to PLEASE DELETE the Email that you sent before they open it, and that it was sent in error. Although my experience is that if you do this, they will still probably read it before deleting.Or prepare to explain to the person you sent it to why it was a mistake.. remember that important word in life called “apologize” ? Seems that many people these days have forgotten how to do that and think that technology can fix everything.But we are all human, and we all mess-up.Own-up to your mistake, be honest, humble, and maybe they will actually come to respect you MORE as a result of this mistake.And you will have certainly learned an important life lesson yourself…Some things can’t be taken back once they are said or done.Such is life..Good luck and Peace!Dr. Michael Einstein

Why are dogs put down after one incident of biting? Isn't it possible it was the person's fault?

Most dog attack’s are the fault of the human. Simple as that.There is no such thing as a bad dog (unless it has behavioural issues), only a bad owner.A dog will follow in the foot steps of its owner, inheriting their attitude. For example, if the human is aggressive, the dog will most likely be aggressive. If the human is kind and loving, the dog will most likely be kind and loving.I saw a post a few months ago on Facebook where a persons dog had bitten the face of a child. The child had come running over without asking and started sticking their fingers up the dogs nose. The dog cannot talk, therefore will retaliate in the only way he possibly can be certain to remove the attacker. Biting.The family of the child sued the man for 3000 dollars for rabies shots plus 600 dollars for themselves.I for one thought it was absolutely shameful and parents should teach their children not to annoy a dog or run over and touch it without asking.So to answer your question, yes. People are stupid with animals and I think everyone should be educated on the basics of animals and how not to treat them resulting in attacks, I also think there should be an individual class for how to treat animals in schools because quite frankly, a lot of parents are doing an awful job of teaching their children to respect animals, causing attacks and having dogs like Pit Bull Terriers banned.There is another way to look at it, still being the same answer. If an aggressive dog attacks for no reason, then the owner should keep control of the dog and take the necessary precautions, knowing that the dog is aggressive, and should not be let off the leash at least without a muzzle.If a dog is a stray and attacks, then, again, it is the humans fault for releasing or losing the dog. So in any situation, it is a humans fault if a dog attacks.I hope this adequately answered your question. Xx

If I plug my router into my generator during a power outage will I have internet?

I am wondering if I can just plug my wireless router into my generator during a power outage and still have internet, or is there something about the power being out that causes the internet not to work?

Have you ever been in a car accident?

I have been in several accidents that were pretty bad, totalling out two cars in a period of less than six months when I first began driving (only one was my fault). The first accident I was in was pretty bad. I got "T-boned" on my side and it pretty much knocked the whole side of the car INSIDE of the car. I ended up getting pretty cut up by glass and had to get stitches on the top of my head, along with stitches on my knuckles (two of my knuckles were cut so badly, that the skin was completely pulled back. Disgusting, I know.) The tow truck driver later told me, after I arrived to get all of my stuff out of the car, how it was a miracle that the driver survived. The second accident, I just banged my face on the steering wheel (someone hit me from behind), but I was fine.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I had a friend die in a car accident several years ago, and over a year ago, my husband's 10 year old cousin died in a car accident. Her two sisters were in the car, along with her sister's friend, who also died. The other two girls were pretty badly injured. One broke her neck and her pelvis. The other was in a wheelchair for a short while. It was horrible. The funeral for that little girl was the most terrible thing I've ever attended and I pray to God that I NEVER have to attend a funeral for a child again.

During a power outage does water still run?

I live in Maryland and Hurricane Irene just hit us and our power has been out since three A.M. Does the water still work and os it safe to drink? My mother seems to think that water flow requires electrical power pumps to work but my friend just told me he took a shower and had tap water but his water has been out since 8 P.M last night. I just flushed my toilet and it worked fine as well.

How long before I can consider my dog house trained?

I keep thinking my dog is potty trained and then I will come home and there will be pee in the house. He is good about not pooping in the house, but sometimes he still pees. If I leave him in his crate, he will hold it so I know he can hold it overnight and at least for a few hours during the day.
A few days ago, he had gone a while without an accident, so I thought it was time to give him a little more space (the rest of the kitchen). He was fine for about 4 days and then peed in the house right when I thought he was getting the hang of it. I only work 3 hours a day this summer so I am around a lot and let him out all the time. How long should I wait for him to go without an accident before I can officially consider him housetrained? Or even let him graduate to more space when I'm not home? He does seem to understand that he has to go out to pee when i'm home because he'll bark at the door. He's a seven month old shih tzu if that helps. He had a previous owner for the first 6 months of his life who did not really train him so we are starting from scratch.

Neither car stopped after minor accident=Hit and run?

Just because a person has their blinker on, it does not mean they have to yield to a car turning left in front of them. Legally, in this case, you would be declared at fault for the accident because you didn't yield to oncoming traffic while trying to turn left.

However, you stopped and waited but the other car kept going. Therefore, it was not a hit & run because even though you were at fault for the accident, you at least attempted to contact the other driver by stopping. So the case reverses itself. Technically, the other driver (even though not at fault for the accident) could be charged with hit & run IF you had called the police right then.

Long explanation just to say, no, you won't be charged for hit & run because you didn't run - you stopped like you were supposed to. And since the police were not called to the scene at the time of the accident, you can't be held responsible for the accident either.

You're lucky! :-)
But be careful and remember that blinkers do not mean that driver is obligated to go in that direction. They may have left it on by accident or hit it with their elbow. Maybe they realized at the last minute that their turn was further up the road. It's not illegal to leave your blinker on - just highly annoying.

~~~~~
Edited because you added the additional detail of not stopping until much further away and after a turn. That's not good and officially *could* be ruled a hit & run. But I doubt anyone even noticed the incident and even if the other driver reported it, the police do not have the time or resources to search the city for a car like yours with a trace of paint on it - unless it was involved in a murder! So, you still get off the hook.
If this ever happens again, STOP. Right away. Cops don't care if you are "freaked out" - it is your duty as a driver to stop & take responsibility. Be safe. :-)
What are good examples of an email to send when an IT platform is scheduled to be unavailable because of an update?
Here is a typical notification that we would use:Subject:  SCHEDULED SYSTEM DOWNTIME - 12 Nov 2014Dear Network User,Please be advised that the network will be unavailable from 01:00am to 05:30am on November 12th, 2014. This period of downtime will be scheduled for necessary updates to be applied to the network servers.We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause. Kindly inform the IT Service Desk (at ext. 1234) of any concerns that you may have about the planned outage.Kind regards,Dilbert TruemanNetwork Administrator.The following factors are important:1. Give at least 48 hours notice, wherever possible. For updates, this should be predictable. Follow up with 12 hour and 1 hour notifications as well. Not everybody has this as a "To Be Remembered" mental priority.2. Always schedule maintenance/updates/upgrades for the least inconvenient time for your users. Inconveniencing your technical guys, compared to inconveniencing the entire business should persuade you.3. Be specific about the time and date - no ambiguity - and allow yourself at least 20% excess time. Also be specific about the format that you display the time and date - do not rely on local conventions (i.e. the conventions of the person writing the notification).4. ALWAYS give a contact number for inquiries, in any notification. If you don't have a service desk/help line/generic call center, then provide the contact name and number of an informed(!) person. 5. It is counter-productive to swamp the recipient of the notification with technical details or blow-by-blow accounts of what is planned to be done. But DO give a brief description (your users are human beings, after all) that will satisfy their basic concerns. The email SUBJECT line must be clear and informative. It should say just enough to be a reminder without the message having to re-read by a forgetful recipient.5. Be polite and err on the side of being apologetic, if you are uncertain about the tone of your notification. Compose your notification as if the CEO is going to read it. You provide a service, you are not the customer, so never sound like a dictator.6. In the above example, you should obviously replace "Network User" and associated references with the name or identity of the service which will be affected. For wide-scale outages, say "Dear IT Systems User". For (a) specific system/s; name that/those system/s. Eg: "Dear Sales, Dispatch and Receiving Systems users".
Was there ever a time when CO2 increased, but temperatures went down ...?
... for 800 years?
That was the premise behind gc's recent question of a thought experiment on what is known as "The 800yr Lag".
Was there such an event? Though it runs counter to my understanding of the coupled feedback of CO2 with water vapour, I can't rule it out.
So, if there was such an event;
When did it occur and by what evidence do we know of it?
By how much did CO2 and WV increase and decrease respectively?
Was there anything else going on that is different to what we see today? (I assume something would have to have been different)
... or is there no evidence for such an event?I
Thanks in anticipation ...
