I Think I Have Either Strained Sprained Fractured Or Cracked The Bone In My Wrist. What Do I Do

What would happen if you fail to treat a fractured or sprained body part?

Well, it depends on where is the injury and how severe it is. A sprain is a stretch or partial or complete tear of a ligament or tendon. In the case of a stretch or partial tear, the ligament or tendon will heal on its own, though there might be some Ligament ousted laxity (looseness) or scarring. A complete tear, untreated, will also heal by scarring / fibrosis typically with some loss of function (depending on the normal function of the particular ligament or tendon). In the case of a fracture, it depends what part of the bone is involved, the purpose of that portion of the bone and whether one or more joints are involved. Initially, of course, there will be pain and disability. With time the bone will heal but with deformity. If a joint is involved the otherwise articulating bones could knit together abnormally such that the joint does not function or does not function correctly or functions with pain. So a fracture of the midshaft of the fibula (small bone in leg) might heal crooked, but it only plays a major role in the leg. Whereas a fracture of the midshaft of the tibia (big bone in leg) would be more painful and debilitating and you might end up with a limp etc. Meanwhile a fracture of the distal tibia that involves the ankle might end with deformity, limp and chronic pain.Of course, if any of these injuries are open, I. E., a cut that extends to the fracture or sprain then there is risk of infection and death. Also, even with closed fractures, sharp pieces of bone from the fracture could sever adjacent arteries and if those arteries are big enough that could lead to trouble either from the hemorrhage or the pressure the hematoma causes on adjacent nerves.Overall, far better to seek modern treatment.

Sprained Wrist or Broken Wrist?

I sprained my left foot 3 weeks ago and I have just managed to fit a shoe on. It will take time, I have to wear a support sock.
I would get advice from your GP Doctor they will examine you and confirm it is a sprain you would benefit from a support bandage which you can buy from a pharmacy but they will advice you to get it checked by a doctor first.
Hope it helps
Good luck
Bath in warm salt water Elevation for your hand will help and also paracetamol and Volteran Gel.

I cracked my wrist, could I have broken something?

I am very crackly. I can crack almost every bone in my body (it seems.) My ears, my neck, back...I cant even walk up a flight of stairs w/o my ankles cracking. My brother and mom are the same way.

I think I might have hurt my wrist. Can you actually break something while cracking? I was told my a health teacher that cracking is just the release of some kind of gas between joints, and that it isn't harmful. And people swear by chiropractors (but also condemn them.)

Opinions/Experiences please...

My son fell and hurt his arm. Could it be broken, cracked, a sprain or what?

Take him to the doctor

How do you sprain your wrist?

You want to sprain your wrist ? Like, you asking us, to help you hurt yourself ?Ok, fine.A sprain is an injury to a ligament.So. How are we going to do that..I couldn't think of anything else but to strap a very heavy load to a rope. Attache the rope you wrist. Put your arm out and spin. Spin as fast as you can and try to relax all the muscles in you arm/wrist.If everything goes to plan, it will pull hard enough to sprain your wrist.Alternatively you can bend your wrist and fall on it with all of your weight. with your hand being the first contact with the floor. That might work too.I've ran out of ideas.By the way I hope it's a joke. And you're not going to do it.If you do actually do it. I didn't tell you anything. It wasn't me.

If i sprained my wrist will it show on an x ray?

i dont know if i sprained my wrist but its swollen and i see a bump in my wrist and i got an x ray but they said its not broken so i was wondering if i sprained it or something and i was wondering how i can cure it its been like this for 3 weeks now

Without the help of an x-ray, how am I able to tell if I have a fracture? I recently fell pretty hard on my wrist while snowboarding. I am not sure if I have a minor fracture or a very severe muscle strain.

You can use a tuning fork, or anything else that vibrates.  Like a phone.Get the vibrations going, then place the item on the bone you think is broken, but as far away as possible from the injury.  It will hurt like hell if it is broken, so don't get too close at first.  If it's just muscular, there will be little or no difference in the pain level.I've tried this and it correctly identified broken bones in the ankle and wrist.  It works best on long bones like ribs and arms, but worth a try for the sake of curiosity.  Warning!  It really hurts!Fracture of the Scaphoid bone in the wrist/thumb is one of the most common snowboarding injuries -- and that fracture is not always identified by the tuning fork method.  You should definitely get it checked out.  After one week though, the bones are already knitting into place.  Don't delay.EDIT:  The tuning fork method can identify many but NOT ALL fractures.  So even if the tuning fork test is negative (no pain) you might still have a fracture.  This is particularly true in the case of all those tiny bones in your wrists and ankles.Use a Tuning Fork to Tell If Your Child Has a Bone Fracture

Describe the symptoms and first aid procedures for a.) Fractures, b.) Strains and sprains?

The signs and symptoms for a fracture can be remembered using the acronym PLUSDICT:

Pain
Loss of Power and/or Movement
Unnatural Movement
Swelling and Brusing
Deformity
Irregularity
Crepitus (CRUNCHING!)
Tenderness

To treat a fracture, the area surrounding the fracture should be stablised using rolled-up clothing or anything which will protect it from movement; and you should treat for shock by raising the legs.

A strain or sprain can usually be detected by using the patients history; what happened before the injury occured. There is usually pain; swelling and poor movement in the direction of the foot. RICE is used to help remember the treatment:

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
