I Think My Cat Has Worms

I think my cat has worms?

If this were my cat here is what I would do:

Take her to the vet. If it is possible to get a fresh sample of poo (sorry I know it's gross) before you leave they can do an analysis and find out what kind of worm, or worms, she may have.

My cat recently got worms somehow also; I was a bit confused because she is an indoor cat too. Luckily they just threw a pill down here throat and told me that she would need another one in 3 weeks.

Apparently it takes a couple of times to get rid of worms in cats or so I'm told.

Finally, I would conpletely sanitize her cat box. Empty out the litter and use Clorox wipes or a lot of soap and water on it. Then replace it with new litter. This is because if she happens to step on some poo with the worms, and then licks her foot, she can become reinfected.

I'm doing this once a week until my cats worms are completely gone.

Hopefully this helped a bit.

How can you tell if a cat has worms?

hey theres a few ways to check like if there is anything in the stool ,thats obvious.also it depends on the type of worm .you may have hook worm if there is blood inthe stool.round worm can be felt through the skin like a round raised area.most other worms can be verified by white small seed like segments found around the anus .if your cat is an outdoor cat which makes it hard to check the stool consider keeping the cat indoors a few days.worms are easily treated and fairly cheap. best of luck.

My cat has tape worms, what should I do?

My husband and I adopted a wonderful female cat from our local SPCA two days ago. She is 1 year and 3 months old. She has been fixed (which was only three days ago) and is recovering very well. She has been vaccinated twice, two weeks apart with Strongid-T (for round and hookworms) and Fel-O-Guard+3 (for more serious feline illnesses).

Last night I noticed a 1cm long worm, white in colour coming out of her bum. I removed it, cleaned her litter box but did not notice any worms in her poop. This morning she had a pee and a worm came out so I removed that from her litter box.

I have done research and it sounds like these are tape worms. They let out egg sacks which then are passed through the bum and then they are ingested by fleas and the cat eats the fleas and the whole cycle starts again.

Our cat has a vet visit tonight for a free vet check provided by the SPCA to show when we adopted her she had a clean bill of health, however, this is not the case. Anyways, I have read that our cat will need a vaccine called Droncit for tapeworms. I believe it comes in a pill form. Has anyone else ever dealt with this with their cat? Can these worms make me or my husband sick? We wash our hands very well after touching her now that we noticed she has worms. We are keeping her upstairs to help avoid the spread of these things.

I have also been reading up on medication to control fleas which will stop these tape worms from coming back after being vaccinated. I have found Revolution Blue for Cats, Frontline Plus for Cats and Advantage for Cats. Does anyone use any of these products? If so do you find they work and are cost effective?

Our cat is an indoor kitty only. We do not have any other animals.

Can you get tapeworms from cats?

It would be very difficult to do so by accident, but very easy if intentional (why it would be intentional is another question). When I first adopted my cat, he had tapeworms. Not uncommon for a cat coming from a shelter with lots of other cats. When I got to work that day, I asked the tech "GINA TELL ME WHAT THIS IS." Okay, it is more of a demand than a question. (I had brought a segment I found on his butt in a little ziploc bag.) She gave me a pill, I gave it to the cat, worms gone. I vaccuumed his favorite lounging spots to make sure I got up any shed segments (though again, it'd be hard for him to accidentally eat one..unless he licked the carpet or something). As mentioned, it's a very easy problem to solve, so make an appointment with your vet right away! They may want a fecal sample, though you can usually see shed segments on their furry butts pretty easily.

How do i tell whether my cat has worms?

Take your cat to a vet.

My cat has worms and he wont eat what do i do?

ok well my cat has worms we dont know what kind we think they are round worms we are trying to give him worm medicine through a pill but he wont eat anything my mom believes he is going to die what do i do i love this cat and i dont want him to die we dont have the money to go to the vets so any suggestions?

My kitten has I think worms that crawl out his butt.?

These are worms. Contact a vet or a pet store to get medicine for your kitten as soon as possible.
You should clean his litter-box every day and wash his food bowl to avoid this in the future.

Why does my grandmother think the cat has worms just because they assume she wants food?

If they think her appetite is excessive, they think it means the parasites are getting all the nutrients ans leaving her hungry. Sometimes there is merit to that. The best way to know is to take a stool sample to the vet for analysis.

My cat has worms coming out of her butt hole?!?

These worms are most likely tapeworms, which hook onto the kitty’s intestines. It is actually healthy that they are coming out, although it would be better if they were coming out in her feces rather than in her actual butthole.
There is medicine your cat can take that will help kill these tapeworms and make sure they all get out of her body. Make sure you take her to the vet as soon as possible so she can be cured!
