I Think My Freind Ate Battery Acid

I think i swallowed battery acid will i die?

I don't believe you consumed enough to worry about but...

if you do have issue obviously get help asap

First, remember the general rule: nothing is completely safe; if you can't figure out a way to use any given material to kill a human, you're not thinking hard enough. "Drop enough of it on his head" usually works if nothing else does.

Dry cells use a pasty electrolyte that most people call "battery acid" despite it not being all that acidic. If that's what you're talking about, how toxic it is depends on exactly what it is; it might be mainly NH4Cl (weakly acidic), or ZnCl2 (weakly acidic), or KOH (strongly alkaline), or any of a number of other substances. It may or may not include mercury; alkaline cells in particular are likely to contain at least a small amount of mercury.

It's almost certainly not a good idea to eat any, and it's best to avoid touching it as well, but it's probably not going to cause much more than a rash or mild chemical burn if you get some on your hand as long as you quickly and thoroughly wash it off.

Battery acid in a lead-acid storage cell (such as a car battery) is a different story. This really is acidic and is somewhat more dangerous stuff; it's sulfuric acid with some dissolved lead sulfate. Neither of these is particularly good for you; if you get any on yourself you're likely to get some fairly serious chemical burns, and if taken internally there will be the same burns plus the lead toxicity.

How to get battery acid out of a shirt?

I have a puke green shirt and i got some battery acid on it and now it looks pink. How do i get battery acid out of puke green shirt which turned pink. Also how do i get battery acid out of jeans because i sat on a 70 year old truck battery and got acid on my *** which turned the *** part of the pants pink too.

Putting water on it does not help but creates a deadly gas compound from the battery acid.

Is it bad to drink battery acid?

I think you know the answer to your own question.

My friends dog chewed on a battery, then 5 minutes later licked my hands,?

Kyle, ?? & Steve have spoken . Always remember to wash your hands throughout the day ! The hands are a #####1 source of bacteria. Clean hands reign ! ps hope you removed the battery from the dog.

Do alkaline batteries have acid in them?

Sounds a bit of a tall story as...
Typically alkaline batteries will not leak under normal storage and/or usage conditions. The potential for leakage is significantly increased however if the batteries are subjected to charging, mixing of battery chemistries, mixing of fresh and used batteries, physical damage, extended exposure to high temperature or deep discharged. Alkaline battery leakage is extremely caustic and contact with bare skin should be avoided. In the event that battery leakage comes in contact with your skin, flush the area for 15 minutes with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention.

What happens if you eat a battery?

Usually nothing. Most likely it will pass right through you. But still you should call the National Button Battery Ingestion Hotline (202) 625-3333 and ask them. It's best if you have another one of the same kind of battery you may have swallowed or at least the device the battery came from so they can identify it.

Can you die from eating batteries?

YES DON'T DO IT.Lead acid batteries - the kind non-electric cars have - have lead and concentrated acid. Does this really need explanation?Rechargeable batteries are especially dangerous. Most of these rely on the unusual electrochemical properties of metals like nickel or cadmium or even mercury. Do any of these sound like a good idea to eat?The least dangerous in comparison are "ordinary" batteries or alkaline batteries, where the worst thing that could happen is you chew them and the acid gel or alkali gel corrodes soft tissue in your mouth and gullet and stomach lining. Or that the whole darn thing gets into your stomach and the strong acid of your stomach juices dissolves the plastic and metal casing and all that leaks out anyway. Also easily forgotten is that batteries - even when "drained" - contain a store of chemical energy. That is what they were built for! Now imagine if all that energy were suddenly released in a one fell swoop chemical reaction. That's right - major heat production. Now imagine suddenly applying lots of heat to soft tender inner organs. Also bad.In summary - eating a battery means a long and painful death by some combination of metal poisoning, chemical burns and sheer stupidity.

I accidentally swallowed a size AA battery...?

Should I be worried?

Will my stomach acid eat through the shell causing the battery acid to spill out and kill me?

What if it gets lodged inside my intestines somewhere and stays inside me forever?

Or maybe the battery will give me some kind of neat superpowers and I'll be able to stay awake all night and electrocute people?

Please HELP!!!
