I Took 118 Mg Of Concerta

Can 108mg of Concerta harm me/kill me?

I just re-started the medication. I took two 54mg's today, and really didn't feel that bad, a little bit of stomach aching, but now I researched and people are saying it can kill you? I'm not doing this to get high, it REALLY helped my work, and I'm afraid only one 54mg will do nothing tomorrow. I just want a straight forward awnser if it can kill me, or harm me in any way. And if it's okay to do this, but there are minor side affects...that'd be a good awnser with some info behind it. Thank you!

Is 108mg of Concerta Dangerous?

Wow! 108mg is an extremely high, potentially dangerous amount for anyone regardless of weight to consume in a single dose. I completely understand your experiencing a lack of efficacy. Ive been on Concerta myself. I immediately addressed my concerns with my physician about its lack of benefits. My question is, how long have you been on this medication? And, if you have been taking an excess of the medication you will certainly build a tolerence. The problem with stimulants is that the body will quickly develop a tolerence (in most cases) and often seem as though it's not working as well. One thing to caution; there's also the "plateau effect," which in essence is your body and mind not recognizing the drastic change, the "high" or feeling of excitement that you've been able to function so much better, and therefore seems as though it's not working as well. My suggestion is to talk to your doctor before you adjust your dose. I've seen addiction happen very quickly in similar cases. You may wish to ask for methylphenidate IR tabs, or request trying Adderall XR and/or IR as I have found 20mg in the morning and 20 in the afternoon very effective. Best of luck! I know how you feel (at least I used to).

Is taking 72 MG of Concerta for ADD too much?

Yes, 72 mg is ok. See information below:

Concerta360 Dosing Introduction
Welcome. I’m here to walk you through this interactive tool, which will help you understand how to optimize the effect of CONCERTA by optimizing the dose.

CONCERTA offers effective ADHD symptom management with minimal side effects in a once-daily dosing regimen. This tool allows you to create CONCERTA dosing scenarios for your pediatric and adult ADHD patients to find the optimal dose for each patient.

Your assessment of efficacy and tolerability through the use of this tool will help you determine the optimal dose of CONCERTA to provide a smooth effect. To reach this optimal dose, you may need to titrate CONCERTA, which may be done weekly to achieve the optimal effect.

Now, if you’ve been here before, you may want to click the Hide Video button and proceed with using the tool on your own. Let's get started.

Choosing a Dose
First decide whether you’ll make selections within the tool based on your observations of CONCERTA in an actual patient, or whether you’ll make your selections based on a theoretical patient scenario.

Feel free to use the tool to walk through as many patient scenarios as you wish. Simply click the Reset button to clear the selections and reset the tool.

At any time, you may click the Titration button to understand the immediate release amount of methylphenidate associated with each dose of CONCERTA. Or, you may click the Dosing button to understand the most common doses of CONCERTA used in clinical trials.

Let’s begin by selecting a dose of CONCERTA. The CONCERTA dosing options are 18mg, 27mg, 36mg, 45mg, 54mg, 63mg, and 72mg.

18 mg is the recommended starting dose for children and adolescents; and 18 mg or 36 mg are the recommended starting doses for adults not currently receiving methylphenidate.

Why does 56mg of Concerta do nothing?

I’m guessing you have ADD/ADHD and that you’re not taking Concerta as a leisure drug.Along the lines of Concerta not working for you, a person with ADHD, there’s a couple reasons. One is that it just doesn’t work. ADHD is sort of a spectrum, so some medicines just don’t work for some people. I took a crapton of meds before I found the one that works for me. No matter how high the dosage is, if the medicine isn’t right for you, it won’t do anything.A second thing to consider is that you may not actually have ADHD. Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) can often look a lot like ADHD, so if you’ve tried a lot of ADHD medicine and nothing works, you may want to see an audiologist and get tested. Depression and anxiety can both cause a lack of motivation and focus, as well as certain other personality and mood disorders.Hopefully this was helpful :) I’m pretty young, but my journey with ADHD has been a long one. I’m always happy to help other people get to a place of good functioning.

What are the side effects of a 72 mg dose of Concerta?

At higher than 70mg you'll get decreased appetite, headache, dry mouth, nausea, sleeplessness, anxiety, dizziness, weight loss, irritability, increased sweating, increased blood pressure and heart rate with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or fainting, Seizures, mainly in people with a history of seizures, Eyesight changes or blurred vision, Circulation problems in your fingers and toes with symptoms such as feeling numb, cool, or painful. Best advice don't push, stick the dose your Dr recommends.

What is a fatal dose of Concerta for a teen?

It is tough to tell what a fatal dose for a specific person is because all the data is from other people. Plus, they don’t push the limits in the FDA studies or anything. The max dose that has been used for Concerta without any problems is around 100 mg per day. However, the lethal dose may be much higher than that—more like 100 mg/kg or even 1000 mg/kg of body weight. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t use this information to harm yourself; there are other options out there besides self harm.

Can you cut concerta 54mg in half if you want it to affect for a shorter time?

Absolutely and completely not. Concerta 54 is a round tube. It has a laser hole in each end. 1/2 is a dry sponge and the other half is the actual medicine. When stomach juices are absorbed into the sponge they then liquefy the actual medicine which gets pushed out on the opposite end of the “Capsule”. That means if you cut them in half , 1/2 is just the sponge and the other half is all the ingredients which would then be immediately released. Unless you have opened a bunch of them you'll have a hard time figuring out which side is the sponge and which side is the Active ingredient. So, don't do it!

Could a prescribed dose of Concerta (2 x18 mg) trigger psychosis? Could being bipolar make you more susceptible?

Yes and yes. If you are considering starting Concerta and are worried about stimulant-induced psychosis, using a slow taper onto the medication may be your best option. Another option would be to use a lower dose than normal. Stimulant psychosis is extremely common when stimulants are abused, but only presents in 1 out of 1000 patients in a clinical setting. Psychotic disorders like bipolar and schizophrenia can increase the risk of stimulant psychosis. Never abuse your meds. Also, ensure that your bipolar is adequately medicated before going on Concerta; this will ensure you have a little more wiggle room.Talk to your doc about doing something like a slow taper and express your concerns clearly and assertively. You have a very valid point here, and it might be less risky in your case to try a non-stimulant medication like clonidine.
