I Tried Eating Only Raw Fruit And Veg But Had No Energy. How Do Vegetarians Get Energy

I'm a vegetarian and I'm always tired. Could it have something to do with my diet?

I've been a vegetarian for over 6 months now and no matter how much I sleep, I'm always groggy during the day. Any suggestions of what I can add to my diet to boost my energy?WITHOUT adding more sugar/caffeine, both of which aggravate my ADD.

Vegetarian always tired and wakes up early and tired...?

What are you eating? When you stopped eating meat what did you replace it with? Many people tend to shift from a meat-centric meal to a pasta or analog (fake meat) centered meal.

What you should be eating:

At least 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day, more is better. Focus on getting a variety of color (different colors have different vitamins.) Make sure at least one serving a day is a dark green veggie like spinach, brocolli, kale, etc. These are high in iron and calcium.

Complex carbs - these take longer for the body to break down and give you a slower, more constant and longer lasting energy then simple carbs. Whole grains are a great example (and also good for iron and protein.) Things like oatmeal, quinoa, wheatberries, aramenth, barley. Look for whole grain breads. Beans, lentils, peas, potatoes, corn, and brown rice are some more examples of complex carbs.

Fat - You should not deprive yourself of fat in an effort to "be healthy." Your body needs fat for many of its functions. The brain needs fat to function or it slows down. Your reproductive system needs fat, your digestive system. Not enough is potentially worse then too much. It's the mass amout from meat (and the high LDL cholesterol) that's bad. Cook your foods in olive oil, eat nuts and avocados, try using other oils like coconut and almond, eat hummus (made with tahini, a sesame oil)

Drink lots of water.

What you should avoid:

Too much processed food - Fake meats are fine as a once in a while thing, but should not be the center of meals.

The color while - not completly, of course, but many foods that are white have been stripped of all the good stuff. Use wheat flour, not white. Raw sugar, Florida crystals, honey or agave syrup instead of refined sugar. There are 40,ooo kinds of rice - try one of them instead of using white rice. And try not to use fake sugars - they're worse for you then the real thing. One turns into formaldihide in your body, the other messes with your brain chemistry.

Caffeine - It's wake you up temporarily, but then your crash will be worse then ever.

Help for a lazy vegetarian?

The best thing to do is cook, because you can avoid a lot of the preservatives and environmentally detrimental packaging of instant foods. BUT, to get your energy back enough to want to cook, you could microwave some soy burgers (Morningstar, Boca, etc). That's about as instant as it gets, though personally I think they taste better prepared on the stovetop. :) Frozen cheese pizza is also easy and full of protein, though not terribly healthy.

Another route to quick energy is fruit--those fruit sugars can really rev you up. Try eating a cup of raw pineapple, or an apple or an orange or whatever, with *every* meal for a few days. That usually perks me up when I'm feeling run down for whatever reason.

Someone suggested you cook a bunch of stuff once a week, and separate it into containers to live off of the rest of the week. That's a very good idea; it only requires you to get motivated one day out of seven, and you'll have healthier meals that way. Crockpot meals are great for that, a lot of recipes require very little prep time. You just chop some stuff, throw it in the crockpot, and wait a few hours. You can make a crockpot of chili go a long way by having it over brown rice or quinoa.

I am a gymnast and I wanna be a vegetarian but...?

Ok I'm a gymnast right? And I wanna become a vegetarian, but my parents won't let me because they say I need the protein and energy so I can train good and not get tired easily, especially at my age.I've also been thinking of becoming a vegan but I've searched for more information about vegans and It will be kind of hard if I become a vegan. So I'm sticking to trying to become a vegetarian.
So,What should I do?
