I Tripped And Fell Down And Now I Have A Small Lump Under My Knee Cap Do You Think It

What should I do if I hit my knee cap really hard?

The patella is an extremely difficult to shatter. If you did you would know immediately because you would be in so much pain that you couldn't walk and do for a magic carpet ride (ambulance). It would require an immediate operation to prevent permanent loss of knee function. If you can walk you probably have a bone bruised it can be treated with Tylenol or Motrin and use ice packs every two hours for 20 minutes at a time. Be sure that you have a cloth between your skin and the ice or you could burn your skin. If it doesn't get better in a few days, then a trip to the doctor and a few xrays. He can give you a prescription for something stronger but these days only a few days because they are very addictive in as short as a week.

Knee cap injury (bump and bruise)?

No, you just have a nasty bruise on your knee. It's not as if there were a lot of extra room in the area to store that blood, and your body needs you to give the knee a break so it can repair itself. That's why you have the pain. It is telling you to keep that knee still. The bruise would get bigger over the days right after the injury, as the swelling went down and it had a chance to be forced into the skin and out of the way of the working knee parts. The fact that it's green is a sign that your body is working on the repair and getting rid of the blood making up the bruise. The body reabsorbs the blood, first by reclaiming the hemoglobin in the red blood cells. That will gradually turn the bruise from the red-purple color to green. From there it will shift to a rather brownish yellow color, and fade away entirely. You would hasten the process a bit if you swapped over from ice to mild heat. It will bring in extra blood supply to hasten the healing and repair. It will also help if you stay off the leg and keep the knee propped up as much as you can. It doesn't sound like a major injury to the knee. It sounds like you took a good thwack to it, and the skin needs to repair itself. Moving the knee makes that harder, so you get pain to remind you to keep it still. Listen to your body, and work with it. Your bruise will be gone in about a week, and by then the pain should go too.

Little bumps under skin on knee cap?

i noticed the other day that i have about 5 little bumps similar to peas or beads under the skin on the top and left side of my knee cap. they are somewhat hard but more soft and i can push them around like they are not attached. they are painful to touch and its painful to move my knee. i did walk into some trays at work about 5-6 weeks ago and hit my knee cap on them. some answers ive seen are like bone splitters but these are round and doesnt feel like bones. can anyone please help me? i don't have insurance so im trying to find out what they could be before i make a trip to the doctor. any websites that anyone could point me to would be so welcomed. im starting to get worried because it started out as one bump and now there is about 5. i do a lot of walking at work and occasionally bump my knees on things and its starting to really hurt to bend my knee so far. these bumps aren't red or noticeable but i can feel them when i touch my knee.

4 days ago i was ice skating and fell on my knee HARD?

4, almost 5 days ago i was ice skating very fast and my toe pick caught on the ice, i tripped and fell VERY HARD. Almost instantly my knee swelled up and had a HUGE bump on the left knee cap and started to slowly bruise. Naturally it hurt to walk, and when i got home i iced it. I have been icing my knee for 4-5 days now, and although, the swelling is not as bad, the busing did get worse, and it has a constant ache. as long as i don't bend and straighten my knee it not so bad. It feels almost like my knee cap is rolling or folding over itself when i bend it to much or try to walk up or down stairs. not sure if i should go to a doctor by now, or just wait it out if likely it is just swelling... who wants to sit in the ER or a dr office for a few hours if they don't need to.
