I Want A Career In Acting

How do you start an acting career at 14?

You can start by doing community theatre, acting classes, doing plays in school, or if you really want, you can pay an agency that will also teach you and get you auditions. I will say though, I would wait to get an agent until after you're out of school because if you get an agent now, you can get called for an audition and if you tell them that you can't go at that time because you have school, that will basically be the last you hear from the agent. You must also accept any role you get because when it comes to an acting career, there is no such thing as a small part. You also must never treat a theatre, such as school, any different than than how you treat any other place, even Hollywood. Every place you act is an equal chance of becoming spotted. I have been even in middle school theatre, and yes, I have seen people scouting for actors and actresses for pictures and plays.

I want to make my career in acting. Which degree should I do which is related to acting?

From my personal experience i m writing this ans: I wanted to get into acting but i knew acting is something i can not learn but still i wanted to try. So i started searching for acting schools in Bangalore and Mumbai. Even though there are many but most of them are just money making business, Not to teach you real acting. I read somewhere that actors are born, not prepared. I prove it wrong because i learnt acting and yes i can act confidently. So yes actors can be prepared. Actors like Nasiruddin Shah, Irfan Khan, Rajkumar Rao and there are many who are from theater background. Plz do not go for institutes like Ekta Kapoor's, Mr. Saxena's and other popular institutes. First of all they are very expensive, 2nd they dont teach you real methods of acting which you can learn in theater. Fees will be very less. So if you are really interested , plz go and join a good theater. Let me know your location. I will help you out. But be very practical, acting is not fun at all. It is fun to watch. One more thing acting is THE MOST DIFFICULT JOB IN THIS WORLD. A great actor told me this line when i said i want to take it as my career. But no harm in trying your luck, go ahead. :) wish u all the best.

How do I pursue a career in acting?

Your first step is to get realistic. There are not a bunch of open auditions you can go to hoping to be "discovered" or anything. You won't start on Netflix. Companies invest a lot of money in their productions and they trust that investment to trained and experienced professionals, not people who think they can do "creepy". Casting involves agents, casting directors, unions, marketing and so much more.

You start by getting quality training and experience. Take some acting classes, audition for community theater, do some student films. Make sure you love the work of acting and are exceptionally outstanding at it.

Then research and learn what is really involved in attempting an acting career. Here's a helpful website with more details about how the business works:

After 12th, I want to pursue acting as my career and I am not interested in engineering. What should I do?

It's good that you have some interest in fields other than engineering and medical. Now it's time to put some effort towards it and show your dedication. First thing is to convince your parents. But the question is can you convince yourself first? Keep all the factors in your mind not just your interest in acting such as your financial status, your skill set, external motivation, etc... Because acting is a very competitive field, you (generally) will have to need constant support to excel in that field internally or externally. Now if you're convinced, try convince your parents showing your confidence. If they accept, go join some acting school. Otherwise don't go against their decisions because you are no superhero or a billionaire yourself. In this case pursue engineering field as they suggest and get a good job. Now, when you get a good job and try to convince your parent again now, they will surely accept your proposal. As they now know you can stand by yourself ( it's a hard truth that your parents wouldn't let you go if you won't prove yourself). Now try opportunities in acting career, you will succeed.Things happened meanwhile in this whole opting engineering process:You will have learned engineering and have a secured job (hopefully). You are getting opportunity to prove yourself in your acting skills in your own college which is a good thing because, you skills get improved.Your views get widened, you will get to know more of this world. Because many people who opt engineering come by the force of parents, they don't know what to become/do in life ( as I should say you are lucky that you know about your interests), here, college provides opportunity to get these kind of people to grow together. Your skill set expands, you will discover more of yourself. You get to know your value in society and among family. Most important thing, you will gain your parents support and respect. As you agreed for your parents, you paid them respect and now will earn theirs. (Answer based on my experiences, Even I used to dream and always wanted to opt in cooking, F1, becoming loco pilot for trains as my career options (don't go crazy seeing my very diverse interests :P). Now I opted mechanical engineering at IIT Roorkee and don't know what date decides :) )Life is full of opportunities, bag them before you lose some.Cheers :D

I've always wanted to be an actress (yeah, I know, like many others....) But now I'm seriously thinking about attending an acting school. But do you think I'm already too "old" to have a chance at being a successful actress. Don't people usually start out very young?

Is it ever too late to start an acting career?

Having movie deals and living in LA is very different than being an actor in NYC. Stage and screen are very different. If your dream is NYC, then go for it. As a stage actor you will not get the same size fan base as an film actor, but you need to decide if you really want to act or just the fame of being a movie star.

Your 30's is not too late to start acting. If you have talent and you want it go for it. I was 38 when I returned to the theatre [13 years after college]. My dream was to be a working actor, I got it. My first auditon gave me a small role. I've worked steady for the last 10 years on various stages in San Francisco. I had a day job for many years, now here I am, almost 50 and am making my living from performing.

If you can dream it, you can do it.

Break many legs.

Help with pursuing an acting career?

Well you need to start with a natural talent and true passion for acting. Then you need to start gaining experience and training. It takes years to acquire the necessary experience and training. As you get older, it only gets harder to break into the industry. You will need a lot more than a few exercises to prepare. You should enroll in acting classes, school plays, community theater, workshops, coaches, etc. Once you lean enough about acting and the industry you will need to move somewhere that is centered around acting. If you want to act on TV and movies you should move to Southern California. Almost every major movie and TV show is casted there. You should know that even if you halve a ton of experience and move to California, there is absolutely no guarantee you will ever make it in the industry. Saying so, you will also need to start studying for a fall back career. So if acting doesn't work out you have something to go to. You also might want to consider studying acting and film in college. Then you'll need to find an agent, which also means getting professional photos taken. At some point you should try to get into a Union. Once you have an agent, they will start sending you on auditions. Then it is up to you to book jobs. The industry is super competitive and you have to be dedicated to it. As of now, you should focus on gaining experience and doing more research about specific aspects of the industry. I pretty much gave you acting in a nutshell. There are so many other aspects of acting. Remember this is a super risky career path! You can't just decide to be an actress and expect to be in movies and TV shows. My cousin has been in the industry since he was 6 and he hasn't been on a TV show or movie. He's done commercials and stuff, but that was after years of experience. Good luck :)
