What information does the phone receive for a discoverable device when searching with Bluetooth?

Similar to MAC address, to identify and connect to other Bluetooth devices, every Bluetooth device has a Unique 48bit address called BD_ADDR or BT_ADDR. In this 48bit, 24bits is gives information about manufacturer, and the rest of 24bits are unique for a device. This address is made short into 12 bit hexadecimal value and printed on label of blutooth devices. But we actually don't need to see these addresses, so we have the Bluetooth names to make the things easier.Apart from this may also recieve other information like device name, device manufacture, Bluetooth specification...So first when a bluetooth devices scans and finds other device you want to pair, it sends a request with BD_ADDR along with info  like device name, manufacturer...If the other device wants to accept the rquest, it sends its BD_ADDR and other info to the first device. Thus a pairing is done.Hope this helps you??For more information see - https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutor...
