I Want To Do Pg Diploma In Hospital

What is the difference between PGDIM(Post graduate diploma in management) and MBA is PGDIM is valid in USA.?

I am quoting another answer from Yahoo Answers.

An MBA will enable you to go for higher studies, should you feel like it later on. A PGPM cannot get you into say, a doctoral level programme in management, even if your employer sponsored your higher studies in management. You would not even be eligible to apply. And I don't think you will be able to call yourselves a postgraduate, as you will not have a postgrad degree if you were to enroll for the PGPM. The PGPM is not a degree, it is just a certificate awarded showing that you have successfully completed the Post Graduate Program in Management of that particular institution. I doubt it if it will be recognised abroad, which might prove to be a hindrance for getting plum management postings overseas.

An MBA is awarded by a government recognised university.

Even the IIMs provide only PGPM, as they do not have university status, but I don't really see their graduates getting into Ph.D. / DBA programs abroad. Not that they have to. With the outrageous pay packages offered, one would have to be crazy to leave all that behind to study further. But it is my understanding that even if they wanted to, they couldn't, as they would not meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

Hope I made the difference clear.

25 year old pharmacist wanting to make career change?

Hi im a 25 yr old pharmacist who has tried various sectors of pharmacy such as ( hospital and retail, distribution and industry) and am still unhappy. I have come to realize that I like the corporate environment and i want to pursue a career in business. I want to do my MBA but i still do not have the necessary number of years of work experience to apply at the business school. I was thinking of doing a post graduate diploma in business administration at the business school and then doing my MBA a couple of years later. Im the type of person that enjoys working on projects to meet deadlines. I enjoy strategising, planning, research.

I would like to know if this career change is possible and if it is a wise move? What types of careers in business would suit me and pay well? Im currently making plus minus R320000 per annum. I;ve tried to find a career that can combine my pharmacy knowledge with business but have been unsuccessful.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have finished MBBS and am not getting through the PG entrance exam. What should I do?

Depends a lot on your life goals, motivation, capabilities and persistence. If you think you have to specialize and you are ready to invest 1 more year to full time dedicated studies, then repeat and give the exam again. Make sure you work your ass off! I know people who have got amazing ranks and awesome PG seats in big places after repeating 2-4 years. You can also opt for DNB, Diploma courses, etc as soft options. If leaving India is not a problem and you are financially sound, you can try for US, UK or Australian PG entrance exams. A word of caution- they are easier to crack than Indian PG entrance exams but need huge financial and time investment. If you are tired of giving exams and just want to continue working as a doctor, you can get good pay in a PHC, offshore work in oil fields, Middle-East, Carribean, etc. The work is not challenging but the money is good. It might be a little unfulfilling though. If you think working as a family practice doc is not your thing, then you can try for alternate career options. Clinical Research is a promising field. You can take GRE and apply for MS or PhD programs in US which are related to clinical research. Highly promising career, but the lack of clinical work might be a downer. Also, the pay is not as good as a doc, but good enough. You can apply for MPH programs (Master in Public Health) which deal with epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics and related fields. The future prospects are similar to MS or PhD programs. If you wanna earn big bucks, then MBA in healthcare management is a good option, epsecially from countries like US, UK, Canada. One option which a fairly large number of repeaters go for is UPSC. You can join IAS, IPS, IFS, etc. The exams are competitive, but again, easier than PG entrance exams. These guys also earn big bucks, but mostly through bribes. You have to be prepared to get your hands dirty.
