I Want To Learn How To Sing

I really want to learn to sing...?

Like, singing is always something I've wanted to do. And then I get myself convinced that I'm not good enough to do it, and I really don't think I am. But all the time I hear these stories about how normal people get famous from their singing and their dreams come true. At night, I'll sit at home and cry because I don't think I can sing and it's really one of my biggest dreams. Any help? I can't afford singing lessons, but I'd try anything.

Can you learn to sing in 6 months?

20 is absolutely not too late to learn. You could wait until your 90 to learn to sing! The truth is EVERYONE can sing. Every single person has the ability to. The problem is technique. Once a person develops a certain technique to make their voice louder, wider, and just overall sound better, then they've learned to sing. The difference between people who make (or should I say have made it in the past...) it as celebrities and such, is that they have found the technique that goes along with the natural sound of their voice best. Everyone most likely has a specific genre that they can sing best. And it's hard to figure out which genre that is without experimentation and of course singing in front of people to get an opinion. The only way to get used to singing in front of people, is singing in front of people. It sucks at first, and of course you will mess up about 100000000 times before you get used to it. One of the most important things to remember is trying to sing with power from your stomach/ diaphragm rather than from your throat or nose. Breathing techniques help a lot.

Am I too old to learn how to sing?

I'm 16, and I know that that's really pretty young, but is it too late relative to singing? I play guitar, violin, and a little piano, and I can hear different pitches, but I just can't seem to make my voice do what I want it to. I want to learn how to sing so much, but whenever I practice by myself I feel ridiculous and can just hear how of key I am. Please be honest, is their any hope for me?

Is it too late to learn how to sing at age 21?

There was a recent post in 8fact or so where in it said everyone has the ability to sing and it is lost in time without practice.Being a heavy YouTube surfer I found this video where Gary Douglas changes the way a girl sing in a very short time. Gary Douglas Changes Girl's Singing Voice In 5 Minutes . So if you practice with the right techniques, YES you can learn almost anything .!

I want to learn how to sing like tim from rise against?

Oh, well that's easy. PRACTICE!

Oh s**t, another one of those stupid obvious answers. But really, when it comes to vocal training, it's all about practice. Also know your stuff though too. There are plenty of free online vocal lessons that you can follow. Practicing singing/screaming while playing your guitar helps too. Also have somebody listen to you and have them be honest. Everybody has a different voice, especially Tim Mcilrath. His voice is pretty deep. I love the band, and am still achieving to sing like him as well. :)

I want to learn how to sing. I'm 19 and I've heard you had to develop your vocal cords when you're young. What are some good tips or directions?

In my opinion, the best thing to do is just to sing anything you can without straining your vocal chords. How do you know if you're straining your vocal chords? Well, if you're singing a note that's too high or too low then you could get a feeling of "Oh my gosh. I can't sing this note. It's too high/low. It's way out of my vocal range". Don't try to push it then. If you can't hit it, then you can't hit it. You can also practice by doing 5-scales everyday. Start at a middle point and go as high as you can moving each scale up by halfsteps, then go back to that midpoint and go as low as you can by moving down in halfsteps. If you're in college, another good thing to try is to join your college choir. It does help you learn how to sing and you can make some good friends. Another alternative however, is to spend the money and get a singing teacher.
