I Want To Lighten My Hair

I've dyed my hair too dark and now I want to lighten it up about 2 shades; I don't have money for a salon, so what's the best course of action?

This happens, and the easiest way to lighten this is to shampoo with (I know, weird, but many hairdressers recommend this, really) Dawn or another dishwashing liquid. Leave it on for five minutes, and then rinse, shampoo and condition well. Your hair will actually be so shiny and soft. If it isn’t enough, repeat for a couple of days.

What shampoo should I use if I want to lighten my hair?

Shampoo cleanses the scalp and roots of excess body oil, product buildup and dirt/debris. It does not lighten hair. Chemicals that start a redox reaction lighten hair. This includes chemicals like hydrogen peroxide, ammonia and ascorbic acid. If you want to lighten hair, you should use a bleaching product that contains those ingredients. After you have bleached your hair, you should use a shampoo with protein, to help protect the hair shaft from more damage.

Will beer lighten my hair?

i have really dark brown hair and i want to lighten it, camomile and lemon juice didnt work... i heard that beer lightens it, is it true? and how long should i keep it in ?

Ways to naturally lighten hair?

i was wondering if any of you know ways to lighten hair color? my hair is blonde, never been dyed, and is getting darker. i want to get it lighter again without dying it so what are some ways? thanks!!

Lightening your hair with poroxide?

I want to lighten my hair. I cant find Sun in where I live either. Iv already gone to target and walmart and drug stores, and the lemon juice hasnt made a difference :/
I dont wanna go in to a salon because it costs money. so anyways iv heard poroxide can damage your hair but i dont want to bleach it. All i want is to make it a light light brown. almost blonde. my hair is currently a darish brown. but not too dark. so help please????

Lightening my hair with chamomile?

I originally had medium-brown hair, but after rinsing it with chamomile tea twice a week it has gotten much lighter and is now golden-brown.

This is what I did:

I boiled some water and made two cups of chamomile tea using Celestial Seasons Chamomile tea (make sure it's the caffeine free kind)
I poured the two cups into a bowl and then let it sit until it was lukewarm.
After that, I wet my hair and rinsed it with the tea, then went and sat in the sun for 30ish minutes.
Then I just went and rinsed it out.

The longer you leave it in, the lighter your hair will become.

I also use Aubrey Organics shampoo which naturally brings out the highlights in your hair when you're out and about in the sun.
This shampoo also makes your hair really shiny and smooth, and the ingredients are pure-organic, so you don't have to worry about harsh chemicals found in other shampoos damaging your hair.

I'm happy I found these alternatives since they're good for your hair and they save you a ton of money that you probably would have wasted on getting highlights at a salon.

Just a note: The chamomile tea hair lightening method will not work on dark hair colors.

Also: Others may tell you to rinse your hair with lemon, DO NOT DO THIS, it will murder your hair.

I want to lighten my black hair very slightly (to a dark brown). Is this only possible with bleach?

Well, you have two options. You can either buy an intense dark brown dye and apply 3–4 tsp of the color and 1 tsp of developer (the reason why I do these proportions is because it minimizes the damage of the developer on the hair but it takes a longer period of time to get lighted up so it would be easier on you to get to dark brown than to add a lot of developer and risk having a lighter shade than you wanted plus have your hair fried).Option two is that you can add 3–4 drops of lemon and apple cider vinegar to your shampoo and conditioner and expose your hair to the sun as much as you can (or at least once a day), and depending on your hair, it will get bleached naturally to dark brown within one or two months. I actually did that myself and had my hair lighted up to medium brown now (only on the very ends) since I have been doing this for a couple of months now (but I do it because lemon and apple cider vinegar do benefit the hair, not because I wanted lighter hair back then lol) and just today I added 3 tsp of dark red hair dye and mixed it with 3/4 tsp of developer and applied it on my ends (that got bleached naturally to medium brown), left it for 7 minutes to be exact then rinsed and then applied conditioner only on them. I won’t wash them with shampoo before 2 days at least so the color would stick to my hair better. Anyway, the end result? now my hair looks almost black/darkest brown in the shade but reddish brown in the sun only. It looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, and it is as healthy as it can get.So my recommendation for you is to use natural bleach for healthier hair unless you want immediate results then use a dark brown hair dye and not bleach (as it would make it orange) and use the measurements mentioned above and you shall be good. Good luck!

Well, since tint doesn't lift tint... what can I do to lighten my hair color?

it was supposed to be a light brown "naturaly golden"... it looked alost like ash dark blonde... but it ended up as a light reddish color, I want to lighten my color or do some highligts or something because this color is kind of not good for my skin tone right now. I have a tan right now and it looks weird...
