I Want To Play Sports But I

I'm 16, should I get a job or play sports?

This is a great question because many don't think about this decision; most just do what sounds fun. I'm going to assume that balancing both isn't an option for whatever reason, schedule conflict probably. Your teenage years are a great time to hold a job. Without any life-dependent bills you can save as much as you want. With a parent's help you can even start investing long-term. And of course, the benefit of having money to freely spend. The penalties to having a job vary from person to person. I myself struggle with keeping up on school and having a job, but you could be different. A job can also be mentally strenuous which could affect all aspects of life, keep this in mind when job hunting. Sports are a great thing to be involved in. They can increase your team-oriented skills, they are a good way to blow off steam, and they can even lead to scholarships. With the added exposure you also have the potential to make more friends, which is always a good thing. One downside to sports is the schedule. There aren't many ways to avoid a big game, so the schedule is often less flexible than a job. No one can give a definite answer on which you should do, especially without knowing your schedule. In my opinion, I think you should get a job. Be picky and get one you don't absolutely hate. After bills, save 50%, invest 25%, and use 25% for entertainment purposes.

I want to play sports but I'm to shy and scared?

I really, really wanted to be in Olympic games... I'm very shy to participate I use to be made fun of at school that i couldnt play a sport but now I do know how but I dont feel like I have the confidence and i always doubt myself all the time. I been being so hard myself dont you think? OH! i just feel so lost. I wanted to make friends also because my social life is a trainwreck and I'm not doing so well. I'm not depressed anymore because I started taking positive sides but My social life is very low and my cousin keep criticizing about having friends and it didnt matter but for a while i started to realize i am isolating myself. Have anyone ever tried to get into a sport and be inspired? Or something whatever! I need motivation....

I'm a junior and I want to play sports!?

Heyy,
I am also a sophomore but have been playing sports my whole life.
1. It's never to late to try something new. Give it a try. Sports introduced me to so many new friends and they are so much fun.
2. For my school, we USUALLY have buses. for one of my teams we didnt for some reason but its not any of the ones you are thinking of joining.
3. We have to pay 200 to play the sport and then for the equipment it depends on the sport. Lacrosse, all you need it googles a stick and cleats which are not too expensive if you get cheap stuff to start with. i recomend borrowing equipment from a freind or something just to try.
4. I would say track and field. i started new too and you can choose what you want to do. i do jumping and throwing varsity and sprinting jv.
5. fall- field hockey, volleyball<3, cross country, football, soccer, swimming&diving
winter- hockey!, basketball, swimming and diving, winter track
spring- lax, baseball, softball, spring track, tennis
6. talk to your athletic director at your school

Sports teams are so much fun! i recently got cut from a sport that i was new to and only played freshman year so i joined Spring track at my school to help with my other sports. Best decision of my life. i love it so much. I throw diskus, high jump and sprint and its amazing. So yah, join. haha

I want to play sports but I'm not good at them?

Everyone can be good at a sport u just have to put positive thoughts instead of thinking so negative. Everyone has the chance to become good at a sport if you try your best keep practicing you will be really good at it. I thought the same as u but once I started soccer and practiced I realized that I was becoming better in under a month it just took a lot of dedication and determination maybe try a sport that you think you'll like not one that sounds cooler and ull enjoy the sport more if you pick the one that intest you the most

I wanna play sports but too scared too help?

At different points in everyone's life, there will be people who laugh at you so there's nothing you can do about their behavior but use it as motivation to make yourself better so they will cheer for you instead.

You can't worry about not being good enough; if you make the team, you're good enough. You have to relax when you play to put what you learn in practice to good use. You can't always control how well you play but you can always control how hard you work and how much you help your teammates to play better.

You will miss plays but so will your teammates; celebrate your successes together and concentrate on doing better the next play. Most good coaches won't spend a great deal of time berating players over a mistake but rather encourage them to get the next play, win the next ball.

No one play by a player loses a game by itself but rather it is the sum of all the missed opportunities, mistakes, and sometimes lack of effort that loses a game. There will also be times when no matter how well your team plays, the opponents are just better.

If you fail, it is an opportunity to learn from your mistakes to get better so you don't repeat them. Any time you play a game, whether it's basketball, volleyball, or other sport, it's like a quiz in class: it's a chance to show what you learned from all the homework you've done. Your practices are like homework in that if you work really hard in practice, then games should be fun in comparison because it's play!!

Relax and let the skills and knowledge you gain flow when you get a chance to play.

I'm 23 years old. I want to play sports again. Is it too late? If not, what sport would I still have a shot at being a professional at?

Well, from reading the other answers you would think that everyone knows you better than you know yourself. I can tell you as a professional who trains elite level athletes, that the answer to that question lies within how honest you can be with objectively assessing your own innate abilities for a particular sport. What concerns me a bit is that you do not have a penchant for a specific sport when posing the question. If you truly want to uncover the truth about whether or not you have the capacity to accomplish this goal at your age, you will need to get really honest with yourself about how much passion you have for a particular sport, how much time you can devote to training for it, and whether or not you have the mental and physical discipline to harness into developing yourself as a competitive player. Based on the question you posed, this is all that anyone can truly say to you with the level of information you provided. If you want to talk more about it, I'm always willing to help young athletes uncover more of their true potential in any sport. Feel free to write me anytime.
