I Went 2 Days Ago From An 18g To 14g They Were Fine Now My Left Ear Keeps Bleeding How Do I Stop

Ear bleeding from stretching 14g?

I just started stretching Sunday. my left lobe is completely fine but my right is bleeding. I used a 14g, and I've had my ears pierced ever since I was two weeks old. I've been cleaning it with soap and water lately as well. when I first stretched them they weren't bleeding. I took them out to clean and put the jewelry back in and I started bleeding a bit. it still continues bleeding, but it's only noticeable when I take the gauge out. what should I do to stop the bleeding? please no mean comments. I wanted to start with a 16g but the store I was at only had 14.

Stretching my ears, hard lump filled with puss?

I'm not sure if this is a blowout or what, but I went from having regular pierced ears (18g my guess) to a 14g. I wasn't sure what size I was at so I bought a 14g - 00g stretching kit off amazon and figured that's what I should start off with. The first time I stretched, it hurt and my left ear bled. I wasn't sure if that's what it was supposed to be like, as my only reference was my girlfriend who convinced me to get them in the first place. A few days later, i noticed a lump, squeezed it, then puss and a little blood started coming out. I cleaned it with salt water then went to bed. It was small for a while, so I stretched to 12g, and now it's back, but bigger. Still not noticeable, unless I mess with it and it turns red, but I just squeezed it again and had more puss and blood come out, and I've cleaned it with peroxide and salt water. I'm not really an expert when it comes to this. From what I could tell, there's a little red spot that's closer to the center of the lump, next to where the piercing is at, and there were fluids also coming out of the actual stretched hole (excuse my lack of terminology). I'm worried about this because I don't want to **** up my ears too bad. I also don't want to take out my plugs because I don't want the hole to close up. Is there some way I can heal this and not have to take the plugs out? How should I treat it?

OMG MY EAR GAUGES ARE BLEEDING! 10 POINTS?

Like the guy before me said...bleeding is common, but ideally, there should be no bleeding. You have to be really careful about infection now, keep it really clean and disinfected. My ears are half inch(have been for years, that's just where I stopped), and I stupidly skipped some gauges in the recklessness of youth. My first gauge I went from normal ear piercing to a 12 gauge...and somehow I didn't bleed. Then to 8 gauge. 4 gauge. when I tried to skip 2 gauge and go straight to 0...I regretted it. Couldn't do it. The bigger they are, the bigger the size increase. You can't skip steps. I've bled a few times when I've overshot my limits (and its resulted in infections), but any time I did it properly it was fine. Disclaimer--don't try to do what I did. I don't know how I only bled considering how I abused my lobes

Here are a few pointers that helped me never tear my ear and bleed (save the one time when I was increasing it by a retarded amount)
-Before you gauge, take a towel or washcloth and soak it in warm water, then hold it to your earlobe for a minute. this will make it softer and more relaxed for the gauging.
-Put a small amount of antibiotic ointment on the taper. This works great for two reason, one it reduces chance of infection, and it acts as a lubricant to make it go through easier.
-Don't leave the taper in more than a few minutes. Push it all the way through with a plug on the wide end. But be careful not to let there be a period between the taper coming out and the plug going in, or else you lose your stretch. Put the wide end of the taper and the plug end-to-end so you can push it through with no gap.
-Leave those plugs in for at least a few weeks, turning them and cleaning them.

This should allow you to gauge your ears without breaking the skin (which causes the bleeding) or getting infected. Good luck!

I stretched my ears from 16g to 14g after a week now its swollen, hard, painful and it bled?

sorry, i know this is long.. but read it all .. it will help. i promise.

first of all, you shouldn't be using peroxide because although it kills the germs and bad stuff.. it also kills the good stuff needed to let your newly stretched ear heal. instead of using the peroxide, get some sea salt (when you can) and soak your ears twice a day with the sea salt and warm water solution. you can also go to the grocery store and pick up some tea tree oil.. i promise you.. this stuff works freakin miracles. if you do decide to get some tea tree oil, just dip a q-tip into the oil and rub is around the front and back of the piercing. (do this 2 times a day)

i KNOW its really tempting to want to touch your ear to see if the taper is still there but dont! .. how about instead you carry around a little make-up mirror to check instead?

also, you shouldn't be wearing a taper as the jewelry, tapers should be used only for the stretching process and then a steel plug or tunnel should be put in. NEVER USE ACRYLIC FOR STRETCHING! .. and from what i heard about your "clear tapers"... you probably used acrylic.

okay so now to your actual question...

yes, you need to take the tapers out and either put in some 14g stainless steel plugs or tunnels (i i always used straight barbells and they worked perfectly fine) or if you wanna downsize until your ear heals.. that would be good too but personally i wouldn't wanna downsize so early either so i would stay at the 14g.

but no matter what, make sure you have SOMETHING in there or else that will only make it worse, because if it's an infection, taking the taper/plug/tunnel/whatever you wanna use out will cause it to spread and will only get worse.

OH, and p.s. i've had my ears bleed a little bit as well and have had puss looking stuff coming out but it wasn't an infection.. so don't be in such a rush to go to the doctor or anything..

okay im finally done :]

GOOD LUCK!!

let me know how my advice helped.. i'm curious to know if all this stuff works for other people with how well it works for me.

Why is my ear throbbing [gauges]?

ok, so i started gauging my cartlidge on my right ear a while ago. i had a 18g in for like 4 months. and i wasn't going to go any bigger but then one of my friends told me to go to a 14. so two days ago i bought a 16g and a 14g. i put the 16 in and it felt the same as the 18. so i took it out after a few hours and put the 14 in. it didn't hurt just had to push it in a bit. i've had it in since sunday [it's tuesday now] and when i woke up today it was throbbing. it won't stop and it really hurts. like aching and throbbing. y is it hurting so bad? should i take it out? idk what to do.

Is it weird to have just ONE ear lobe gauged?

No, it is not weird. I think it's stylish. Also, it's a matter of taste and in this day and age, anything goes. Plus, I know several guys that have only one ear gauged. My little brother being one of them. :-)

I wish I knew the kind and color of your gauge earrings. I bet their cool.

Please take care of your infected ear. Put peroxide on it and follow up with 'neosporin cream' which is an antibiotic. Aid your ear with this combination in the morning and at night. Try not to touch your ear. It will heal before you know it. If it doesn't, see a doctor. But, I think you will be alright.

If you want to try to gauge your right ear again, be careful. Maybe you can get a friend to help you. If not, like I said, it's stylish and cool to have only one ear gauged. Take care.

love ya

I just stretched my ears from 14g to 12g and it didnt hurt, can i go from 12g to 10g in a week?

I stretched my ears about 3 weeks ago from 18g to 14g and it hurt so i waited 3 weeks and went from 14g to 12g today and it didnt hurt at all. I've always heard that i should wait 2 weeks but if i could hardly feel it can i just wait a week? NOTE: I only want people that know what theyre talking about to answer, if your just gonna tell me its stupid and gross dont bother, i do not care!

Does going for a 18 Gauge to 14 Gauge hurt?

i find that stretching is easier when you go one size at a time, you prevent rearing and its less painful. i've gage numerous times, and i barely felt anything most times. all you feel is pressure as you slide the taper through. i would suggest you get a 16g taper and go to that first, it will make life alot easier... when i went from a 10g to an 8g i had a hard time, and had to leave the taper in for a few weeks as i worked it all the way through, it caused some bleeding and took longer to heal than any of the other times i've gaged. so really do it one size at a time to ensure faster healing and less discomfort.

a few tips i've picked up on

1) do it after a nice hot shower, it makes it easier to slide the taper through
2) don't leave the taper in, they are very heavy and can cause discomfort. i got tunnels, and how i did it was i slid the taper through, lined the tunnel up with the taper and continued to slide it through, that way its done seamlessly.
3) don't force it too much, if it become too tight and it hurts alot, the you're probably gaging too much at one time. put to two rubber ends on either side of the tapers and leave them in for a while, continue to stretch them a few days later. if you rush this it will cause bleeding and may possibly cause a tear.
4) clean and lube everything well, i use neosporin as a lube because its also a disinfectant. i also put lube on the tunnel (or plug) that i'm putting in immediatelya fter the taper, just to make it smoother.

thats all i can think of for now. have fun with it and good luck! :]
