If Been Bitten By A Pitbull Terrier Can I Sue The Owner

Can my Boston Terrier be put down if he bites someone?

The short answer is yes, depending on the laws where you live. The longer answer is maybe, depending on the situation. How many times has the dog bitten? Did the bites break skin? Did the dog exhibit intent to harm? Was the dog provoked? Was the person in charge of the dog not paying attention to the dog’s discomfort and protecting him from whatever the perceived threat was?Dogs don’t bite for fun. If your dog is biting, get him to the vet and have him thoroughly checked for illness and injury. Get yourself to a positive reinforcement trainer who can teach you - and your dog - how to recognize and act when there is something making the dog uncomfortable. Your dog is telling you all the time, and you aren’t listening.

I got attacked by a Pit Bull and my Jack Russell Terrier Killed it; the guy wants to sue me :/?

Do you have witnesses? Did you seek medical attention for the bite? If so, they would have reported the bite to animal control and his dog would be taken away and quarantined for 14 days, at the owners expense, unless he can prove current rabies then it would be quarantined at his home. Were the police called?. He was in the wrong his dog wasn't leashed and I would sue him for the bite and any damage his dog may have caused your dog. The proof of burden lies with you, get a lawyer. Sure anyone can sue you for anything they want but so can you, it comes down to who can prove their case by preponderance of evidence.

While it does sound a bit far fetched, you have to realize that a Pit has the weight and bite power but a Jack is far faster and nimble than a Pit and if he got the first bite in he could very well have killed it. Owner of two Jacks that have killed much larger mammals than rats, and that were bigger than them. They were originally bred for fox. One is 12lbs the other is a well muscled 17lbs.

Can i sue a dog owners employer for dog bites?

Well i sent my 9 year old son outside to wait for his school bus in the morning. then 10 minutes later he comes in saying the bus driver told me to go back home and blood is dripping all from his head so the cops are called he goes to the hospital and i go outside to see tif the dog is out there (bat in hand of course) but the mantinence worker stops me so i tell him what happened so he goes and knocks on the door and the dog tries to jump on him but hes not hurt eventually the guy says hes the owner and we talk to animal control and all that stuff the dog gets house quarantine for 10 days ive researched and found out i can already sue the owner and get sompensation but can i sue the complex office since the owner was an employee for the complex (mantinence worker) So basically can i sue the complex manager for knowing he had the dog and he was not following the rules (the dog was not on a leash and was completely unsupervised just wandering outside)

Why aren't pit bulls banned in every state?

Because if they were, this would never have happened. Top picture is how the pit bull was found - in a disgusting dog fighting ring. The bottom shows what happened when the dog was adopted by a loving family. If this doesn't demonstrate that it is horrible people that are the problem and not the breed, I don't know what will.:Timeline Photos - Hempstead Town Animal Shelter | Facebook"This  seriously may be THE MOST precious HAPPY TAILS photo we have ever seen…  This is Brownie, one of the multiple dogs seized from a dog fighting  ring in January. After the horrors Brownie had to endure (above photo shows how Brownie [left] used to live), this photo  of Brownie snuggling with his human sisters is so breathtaking, so  precious and leaves us speechless!! (Btw, not pictured here is Brownie's  canine sibling, a small dog!)"

My Boston Terrier bit a child but it was the child's fault what should I do?

Last week I went to the local dog run with my 3 dogs Cesar( german shepherd),Matt( Pit bull),and Oreo(Boston terrier). When we first arrived there were many dogs and my two larger dogs were having a good time sniffing and socializing with other dogs while Oreo stayed close to me. About 15 minutes into their fun a man with about 12 children came into the dog run unaccompanied by a dog. He then left the children in the run and went to talk on his cell somewhere else .The children began to chase, and nearly trample my boston while screaming and crying each time my larger dogs came near them. I finally got fed up with this and decided to leave. While I was getting my leashes ready a little boy tried to pick up Oreo. I shooed him away and told him to leave her alone. Then I moved her to the smaller dog side of the run while I wrangled my other two dogs. When I was reaching for my pit-bull I heard a scream. When I looked up I saw the same boy throwing my dog against the fence then running away. As I was walking out of the run a large man confronted me saying that my dog bit his child and that I will see him in court and I will be paying for his child's rabies shots. I gave the man my vet's information to clarify that my dogs were up to date with all of their shots, but I made it clear that I am not giving him a dime and that his children should not be in the dog run torturing dogs anyway.

When I arrived home I saw that Oreo was walking strange so I took her to the vet. Turns out she had broken and fractured and bruised a rib when the boy threw her into the fence.Thank god for pet insurance because her surgery cost over $1000. To make matters worse the man got my phone number from my vet and called me saying that his child is suffering from trauma and PTSD, and other miscellaneous ailments. He says that he got his lawyer and I should get one because he is suing me for his child's doctor visits and pressing charges so Oreo gets put down. He says the only way he will not take me to court is if I put my dog to sleep. but I refuse.

What should I do because I am not paying this man and I am not putting my dog down?

Why do pit bulls bite on themselves?

My first question would be, "Why is he caged?" Pit bulls if socialised properly don't really need to be caged except on the odd occasion when you want to be sure they stay put and can't escape or be taken by someone. It's possible that stress is causing the behaviour, certainly.

Another possibility is mites of some kind so really, a vet visit is needed for him.

EDIT: By the way, I have two pit bulls visiting with their owner at the moment and they are very nice dogs. They certainly need to be owned by people who will take the time to exercise them that they need and the trouble to train them and socialise them but there is no need to cage them.

Pit bull-specific laws in the Philippines?

It doesn't matter what breed of dog attacked your dog - so get over the fact that the dog may or may not have been a Pit Bull.

What you really need to be researching YOURSELF are the leash laws in your area.
If dogs, by law, must be kept on a leash and then otherwise properly secured - then the dog owner is held liable and you can sue for the cost of your vet bills.

You need to hold the owner liable, not the dog. It is the owners who are responsible for keeping their dogs contained.
Also, maybe all you people that have your "household help" taking care of your dogs, shouldn't really be owning dogs if you can't be responsible for the dogs yourselves.

ADD: What you are talking about is called Breed Specific Legislation and if you're lucky enough not to have your personal rights spat on then hopefully you won't have that.
Either way, BSL or not, I would be trying to find out about the leash laws that pertain to EVERY breed.
You do also realize that Pit Bulls are not a breed, right? It is a term used to describe some bully breeds. Most people THINK a dog is a Pit Bull but then end up being completely off base.
Doing your research yourself will prove to be gratifying.
