If Bill Bridges Was In Today

Should all toll highways, tunnels and bridges take cash if you don't have a transponder?

No, transponder only is much quicker, easier, and safer. Building that many cash lanes would take a lot of land, and paying people to collect tolls is expensive. In Miami they don't even require a transponder anymore, they will just read your license plate and send you a bill. I think the toll-by-plate fee is only a dollar per toll. Nothing huge but would add up.Just get a transponder, if you are that worried that big brother is tracking you keep it in a shielded bag when you're not on the turnpike.

Why doesn't the Bay Bridge scan license plates to bill for tolls like the Golden Gate bridge?

Golden Gate is it’s own little fiefdom. It’s small & a perfect test case with results to be shared, as GGB does rely heavily on Federal & State contributions.Bay Bridge has so many more cars crossing…. If it works for GGB, don’t think CA State bridges won’t be soon to follow.

How can I pay on the two toll bridges between San Francisco and Sacramento? do I need cash or even coins?

you need cash of any kind. coins, whatever. Take highway 80 all the way in from Sacramento. You will have one toll to pay in each direction. The bridge in vallejo is free going to SF but paid going east bound back to sac.

The Bay Bridge is exact opposite, you pay going westbound to SF and then free on the way home.

Be careful with the bridge tolls as They have changed since July 1. Carquinez Bridge in Vallejo is $5. Bay bridge is the odd ball. It depends on what time you are going over it. see below.

San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge
2 axle vehicles between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m., between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and from 7 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday—$4.00

2 axle vehicles between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday—$6.00

2 axle vehicles between 12:01 a.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday— regular toll: $5.00

you just need cash or fastrack for the bay area bridges. I have paid in all pennies before. They are manned booths and doesn't really matter.

Do you want Congress to pass this Bill?

I wish they would just get out of the way and let this country roll forward. This could be another great American story, The generation that laid the infrastructure that takes America deep into the 21st century.

Why can't Republicans put their hangups to the side just long enough to let America do great things again. Believe me Sharing is not that bad, just because you can't rule over America with an Iron fist anymore does not mean we can't be just as great as we were in the past, probably much greater because many brains is better that 1.

What is the cost of zirconia bridge (dental) in India?

Namaste Yogesh ji.The information you got from your dentist is absolutely correct. The bridge is that treatment option which involves two supporting tooth, one from ahead of missing tooth and one from behind. You must have searched about it by now.Zirconia is the best material today for the crown having excellent properties. So the cost of zirconia crown is also high. But let me tell you its totally worth. The clinician may charge ranging from 8–15 thousand per tooth.I have two advice for you:If you opt for such crown, make sure to consult with an experienced and qualified dental surgeon. You may go for an Implant, which is a better option to replace missing tooth. In your case if you have single missing tooth, Implant is a best option. It will save your other tooth as well as it will save your money too. It will cost around 20–28 thousand. In my clinic, I charge around 10k for zirconia and 22k for an implant.Hope it will be helpful.Regards.

Structural Engs: Why are bridges not made of a stainless steel?

Bill: I'm a civil/structural engineer with bridge design experience. In addition to its high cost, stainless steel is not manufactured in many of the the heavy rolled shapes commonly used in fabricate structural members for bridges. This would necessitate connecting structural (carbon) steel and stainless steel members, which poses the threat of the accelerated corrosion that can take place between dissimilar metals. Brittle fracture and weldability of stainless steel are other concerns. Finally, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials bridge design code (first link below) does not address the use of stainless steel for bridge members such as girders and beams, though stainless steel is sometimes used for hangers in arch or cable bridges.

Check out the second link below for information on corrosion protection of steel bridges.

Weathering steel is a type of structural steel that forms a patina of oxidation to protect the steel in the same way that paint does. This type of steel looks rusty, which looks great in some settings, but may be too rustic in other settings. Special detailing of runoff points from the superstructure is needed to keep oxides from staining substructures. Take a look at the third link below to learn more about weathering steel.

Anyone in the dental profession know how to bill and code for a fixed bridge with a cantilever extension? ?

You use the pontic code for #7 (D6240) the same way as if it was for a pontic in the middle of a 3unit bridge. I usually write on the explanation that it is a cantilever.
