If George Washington Smoked Marijuana And Grew Feilds Of It Then Why Is It Illegal

Marijuana use during pregnancy????

Before I was pregnant I liked to smoke as I see nothing wrong with marijuana use as long as you are responsible about it. If you use it for your personal use in your own home privately and are not giving it to anyone else or driving then it’s your prerogative.

HOWEVER the reality of it is that it is a drug. No one can tell you for sure or not that THC hurts or doesn't hurt the baby. Furthermore marijuana is sprayed with who knows what chemicals sometimes. So why take the chance? Its nine months of your life (more if you are breastfeeding) that you have to give up certain things to ensure the well being and health of your child. Whatever you a putting into your body is one way or another going to your child.

I would never ever ever smoke pot while pregnant. I wouldn't be able to even sit back and enjoy it because I would be paranoid that I am somehow hurting my baby and the guilt would be too much. If it turns out that it does harm to your baby and you could have prevented it by not smoking pot and you knew that could you live with yourself? So why bother? To me women that drink, smoke cigarettes, do drugs during pregnancy are selfish. When you decide to have a child the reality is that there are certain things that you need give up.
Bottom line is that if there is even a 1% chance that you could be doing damage to your unborn child whether it is now or down the road developmentally or other wise then why would you take the risk? Is it really worth it?

Oregon or Washington?

I definitely would like to live in a state where weed is not illegal, a state that is liberal, and somewhere that is affordable/cheap to live since I plan on building a self sustainable home. It'd be nice to move to Washington, but I also heard great things about Oregon as well. My idea is to live off the grid near the beaches, forests, and mountains away from the rat race of it all.

Did George Washington grow hemp or cannabis?

Certainly. Cannibus is a very useful plant. It is similar to cotton or flax, as in it provides useful plant fibers (prepared more like flax than cotton). Cannibus fibers are used to make hemp rope and canvass fabric. Think about how useful those two commodities were during the age of sailing ships, to say nothing about their many uses on land.In the early 20th century the medicinal properties of cannibus were discovered. Unfortunately it was the side effects that were first noted, and it was used for recreational purposes. The US government decided this was a bad thing (true), and that the best thing to do about it was to make it illegal (false). They also demonized cannibus, even giving it a made-up name (“marijuana”) to make it sound more sinister, and attributing all sorts of completely untrue effects to it. This drowned out the actual harmful effects and destroyed the government's credibility for this and more dangerous drugs. It also kept anyone from using (legally) THC (the active ingredient) for any of its legitimate medical purposes (example: treating glaucoma, thus preventing blindness). Now we have all the wrong remedies. Many states allow “medical marijuana,” but in all those states the vast majority of the prescriptions are nothing but excuses for people to smoke pot; providing such prescriptions is quite lucrative for unscrupulous individuals with medical degrees. And in a few states the stuff is now legal without a prescription, unfortunately without any attempt to inform people of the actual harmful side effects. Couple this with the fact that possession is still against federal law and we have a mess. All of that results in people getting hot and bothered because Mr. Washington was one of many farmers who grew a cash crop that was used to manufacture fabric and rope.

Why is marijuana so vilified in our society when alcohol and tobacco are accepted?

All of us (including those in government) have basically been told our entire lives that marijuana is as bad as crystal meth.
There are too many uncited 'facts' that are pushed around by anti-drug websites, giving the illusion its much worse then it really is.
It became illegal for economic reasons. They could make more money out of other materials, and they were profiting from putting people in prison. It also had to do with racism and a bunch of other things.
People will continue to be prejudiced against it until they do their own research or develop an interest in the topic.
It's illegal for reasons most people don't remember.
It will stay illegal until over 50% of the nation demand a re-election and vote for legalization.

Some facts:
Marijuana is about as addictive as caffeine, and is not physically addictive (the body and mind don't crave for it).
No one has ever died from marijuana.
No one has ever overdosed from marijuana (you need 1500g to overdose).
Marijuana has some proven health benefits.
Marijuana's only major side effects are from the inhaling of the smoke when it is lit (this is completely eliminated with vaporizing).
It is more accessible by minors through its illegality.
Safer then many medications.
A herb used for thousands of years.
Marijuana does not cause laziness.
Many high profile people (including quite a few presidents -- Obama and Bush for example) have used marijuana, some on a regular basis.
You generally cannot tell if someone smokes pot or not.
Safer then alcohol or tobacco.
Majority (90%) of people in rehab for marijuana have used it under 3 times, and not for over a month (is that an addiction?).
More people die from its illegality (through drug deals or imprisonment) then itself (including driving).
Costs America $40b a year keeping it illegal, could gain $10-$40b (may be million) a year through taxing and regulating.
A large amount of people around you have done or do smoke marijuana.

Im 15, and i smoke weed sometimes. Is it bad if i do it occassionally?

i smoke a little bit of weed occasionally. i smoke weed once every one or two weeks. do you think its bad? should i be worried? ive heard that beer is far worse than weed so i was thinking it wasnt as bad.

Why have Americans become more supportive of marijuana legalization?

I used marijuana once or twice when it was illegal, back in my college days in the 1960s, but I wasn’t really interested in it.After it became legal here recently, I had an issue with pain due to a stress fracture, and a couple of people recommended trying some form of marijuana to help with it.I tried a CBD cream, I tried cookies that were half THC and half CBD, and recently, just for relaxation, I tried gummies that are only THC.And my one and only reaction is: They sent people to *jail* for THIS??None of the three applications I tried really did much of anything for me. My mouth got dry, I felt like snacking, I felt sleepy, and I took a nap.Seriously? This was illegal??It so happens that the Green Cross marijuana dispensary in my community shares a parking lot with a liquor store.I can and always could go into that store and buy a quart of vodka and make myself sick or even possibly dead, with no problem.I really do not understand why anyone would find the minor mellow high of marijuana more of an issue than the effect a person can get from alcohol. At. all.I think when marijuana was mainly smoked, it had a kind of illicit aura about it, but chewing a cookie or a gummy seems so innocuous that I am just stunned that it could ever be considered a crime!I am aware of the racism and the worry about “hippies” that lead to the illegalizing of marijuana in the first place, but the idea that an herb, a plant, a vegetable can be a crime just seems incredible to me.So it’s not so much that I “support legalizing it.” I just can’t fathom how or why we ever “illegalized” it in the first place. It’s like outlawing coffee or tea! Because you don’t like the idea that people like the way it makes them feel.If we have any claim to be “The Land of the Free,” we certainly shouldn’t be outlawing a plant!
