If I Burn 1000 Billion Dollars How Will That Effect The Economy .

How much is 1 Trillion dollars?

Deficit is currently $12 Trillion, part of that being $1 Trillion spent since the beginning of current hostilities in Afghanistan and Iraq, that is, since 2001.

But what does that number represent? Best I've heard was explained this way by an economist on NPR
the other day:

"Lets say you started a business. Let's say you started it on the day Jesus was born, over 2000 years ago. Business wasn't very good for your startup, so you lost $1 Million that first day. In fact, business did not improve at all. Your company continued to lose that same $1M every day -- 365 days a year -- until the present day.

If that were the case, the commentator went on to explain, it would take ANOTHER 1000 YEARS before you would have lost 1 Trillion dollars. Still think we're going to "grow our way out" of this mess?

And by the way. As I understand it, the $12 Trillion deficit does not include the so-called "toxic debt" of now-valueless securities generated these last several years -- only that small (read infinitesimal) part of it represented by the bailouts.

I for one am faced with seizure of my $303 Social Security supplement to disability because of a $3000 tax debt from 2002 unearthed last year by the IRS. Meanwhile, a substantial part of that money is going to pay for the bailouts and in turn to the banking executives' "contractual" bonuses.
Conclusion: George Orwell and Aldous Huxley were optimists. I would say any futuristic vision of all this published in their day would have been dismissed as complete paranoia -- impossible.

Will the world economy collapse if the third world modernizes?

The world economy might collapse, but for reasons other than alterations in trade deficits. Increases in population, scarcity of natural resources, increases in pollution and environmental destruction, accelerated global warming, increases in competition for those scarce resources, tensions resulting in more global conflict, use of atomic weapons, a nuclear winter - that's all she wrote folks.
