If I Buy An Item Online At The Wrong Price Does The Retailer Have To Honour The Purchase

What if I ordered something online at a bargain price and it said 'in stock', and then the site inform you later that the item was sold out?

Assuming you mean a bargain price as in ‘lower than everyone else in the market’, rather than just ‘a good deal’. Like an iPhone for $20 or something similar.I’ve been on both sides of this situation - the retailer’s and the customer’s. Essentially, just as when a bank makes a mistake and puts too much money in your account, this isn’t something you will profit from. The retailer isn’t doing anything illegal.Seeing it from the retailer’s point of view, if they were legally obliged to honour a pricing mistake that lost them tens of thousands of dollars, it could quickly put them out of business. Imagine hundreds of other people had seen the same offer and bought it? You might argue “Well, they shouldn’t have made the mistake! They deserve to go out of business!”. Is that what you’d want, if you ran a business? As a customer it’s frustrating, but in general only if you buy into offers that are too good to be true. See something way below RRP and you might start to question a) How the retailer is making money from this and b) Why they are wanting to sell it at a loss? Hunting for bargains requires you to take business practices into account, rather than just finding the very cheapest price going - all may not be what it seems. The idea is that the price advertised is what you as the consumer is ‘offering’ the retailer for a product, the retailer can choose to accept or deny your order. They can cancel your order for any reason whatsoever - suspected fraud, a stock discrepancy or any other reason.

What are the laws on mis-priced items from an online store?

It's stated on their web site that they are allowed to make correction:

Errors on Our Site
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Best Buy will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return it in accordance with Best Buy's Return Policy.

======================================...

Their contract is what is on the website, which you agree to by making a purchase there. Part of that contract is that they are allowed to make corrections to mistakes, and charged you the correct price.

If you don't read the terms as they are posted on their website, why should they be held responsible?

What are your rights when sent the wrong item by an online store?

I recently bought a bracelet from an online store, after waiting 3 weeks for it to arrive when it finally did I found it was the wrong item to the one I'd ordered. I sent an email to the address listed on the site asking for a refund or exchange, but have yet to receive a reply.

I was wondering what your rights are as a consumer when something like this happens? Can the owner of the site ask me to return the item that was wrong, and if so can I claim back the postage charges I have to pay in order to send it back? Or do they have to agree to let me keep the wrong product and send my original order out free of charge?

If a Car Dealership list a car for a price, do they have to by law honor that price?

It's called "Bait and Switch" and is a favorite tactic of less than ethical used car dealers. The other response is "we just sold that one, but we have others..."

Go find an honest dealer who advertises cars he actually has available for sale at the advertised price.

If I buy an iPhone from Flipkart, will I get the Apple warranty?

NO, you don't.(edit: yes u will, but after constant tension of a week) Don't buy apple product from Flipkart, I myself bought the Macbook Pro Retina from Flipkart. THOUGH THEY SAY IT WILL PROVIDE WARRANTY DON'T BUY.Let me tell you my story, I ordered it in around one lakh, and was very happy that the product was seal packed. But as after a day it turned out that its warranty was expired, by checking it from Check Your Service and Support CoverageISSUE 1: Got it on 28th March, but the invoice was of 25th march, awesome, if they deliver it a month after you order, your one month warranty will already be over. (If its even possible to have warranty from Flipkart) :P Because warranty will be calculated from invoice date.ISSUE 2: Coverage expired,Called Apple customer care to confirm that, their reply is following.WTF? I paid one lakh just to have a product that was bought on Jan-2015. and delivered to me on April-2016. Dude! I would have got second hand Macbook Pro 15" in that if I wasn't concerned about warranty. And the reply from Flipkart was hilarious, when i reported it on 30th March, they said it will take two days to reply, i.e 1st April, I waited, then I got message that SORRY for the delay, we will be calling you on 2nd April, and its 4th April, I HAVEN'T GOT ANY CALL FROM FLIPKART. (Edit: till 5th April)So my suggestion would be Amazon, or buy it directly from the store. Thank you.Edit 1: I got the warranty after 10 days of contacting flipkart. And after constantly bugging them, contacting bansals and all.Actually it was not directly flipkart customer service that solved the issue, I contact Apple on the same day as flipkart, apple called me then and there and told me to keep patience, they themselves contacted Flipkart for some details. But this stupid service of flipkart, even replied to them after a week, that's why my warranty was extended a week later, normally it takes one or at most two days.My opinion still stands that, don't don't don't choose flipkart for any costly item, not because it will not be original, but because of their shitty customer service.Edit: You won’t get much update either. Just a week back I got this message when I checked for any update for my MacBook Pro.

Can u buy a real royal or 'noble' title?

Short answer: no.

In England, you can buy a "Lord of the Manor of ......" title, which is not a Peerage or anything like that. The powers of the Lords of the Manor were removed in 1926, and it is simply a piece of property now, much like a house. They used to be attached to land, but, no longer. However, you would not be "Lord Joe" but "Joe Smith, Lord of the Manor of Somewhere." These things vary in price, but about 3000 pounds is typical.

A similar thing in Scotland make you a Baron. Again, not a peer; it is just a piece of "real" (as in real estate) property. However, the word baron has more cachet, and they usually sell at auction for 10 times what the English Lords of the Manor sell for.

In Scotland, having a coat of arms makes you noble, albeit without a title. Some argue that in England it is similar, while others disagree. In Canada (which grants Coats of Arms), having one does not make you noble.

And, as you suggest, Americans are not allowed, by law, to accept titles anyway.
