If I Told Something Personal To My School Will It Go On My College Reseme

Law School Personal Statement?

I'm currently in the process for writing my personal statement but I'm not sure what to focus on. There are different routes I have thought of but can't come up with something distinctive that I am set on. Here are some things that I have considered writing about/incorporating into my personal statement:

- Grew up in economic hardship, divorced parents, mom was on food stamps, got a job when I was 15 and paid for essentially everything myself.
- Was president of my fraternity in college, organized attendance at leadership conferences for members, organized philanthropy events donating $1,000+ dollars to charities.
- Studied abroad in Spain for a semester during college, completed an internship working with immigrant children in high social risk situations, communicated solely in Spanish the entire time I was there.

Do any of these strike as obvious things to write about/not write about in my personal statement? I can't decide on one topic specifically so I was considering incorporating them into one theme, perhaps "overcoming adversity" or hardships in my life and how I have confronted those hardships...does that sound too cliche?

What specifically do UC colleges look for in the way a person expresses himself on the application?

An extraordinary essay is a tall order, but it can be done - and not necessarily by students who've done extraordinary things. Here's the short list.1. Make it acutely, achingly personal. You're unlikely to say something we haven't already heard about socialism. You are more likely to have unique perspectives on the treatment of LGBT students in small town America.2. Aim for genuine emotional originality. You know those times when you look at the world and wonder how it's possible that people see things so differently than you do? And that one time you tried to explain yourself to your best friend and he looked at you like you were crazy? That's what you're aiming for here. You want the admissions officer to read the essay, put it back down again, stare at a spot on the floor and whisper with awe, "My goodness, I've never thought of it that way!"3. The "let's go out for a beer" test. No, I don't really mean beer. Unless we're in Europe. Then, sure, I'll buy you one. But there's that phrase, "someone I'd like to go have a beer with" - make it about you. Show that you are interesting, riveting. You stand out. 4. Inspire someone. The application is as much about them as it is about you. Think about who your college wants. They want a student that will inspire other students, who will make changes, who will go off after college to do impressive things, then come back and donate money. Or donate time. Or at least give a graduation speech or two. When I was an interviewer, I wanted to walk away from an interview saying, "What an impressive young person. I would have loved to be friends with her in college." 5. Don't lie. We will be able to tell. This sounds obvious, but it isn't. I'm not talking about fabricating your resume. Not the lies that aggrandize your accomplishments, but those that aggrandize your intentions. Sure, you went to Physics summer camp and got a 5 on the AP exam, but don't tell me you want to be the next Marie Curie unless you mean it. And by the way, very few students do at this stage. It's ok not to know what you want. Some of the most accomplished and interesting people in the world don't know what they want. But write about your path and your journey in such a way to make me want to walk it with you and be a part of it.Know more details from here: Ivy League and Elite College Application Guidance

Personal statement/ college essay?!?!?

Ok im writing a college application essay or whatever its called for english and my prompt for one college is open to anything im just supposed to tell them something i want them to know about me and the other college's prompt is "Describe the most challenging obstacle you've faced and what you did to overcome it. What did you learn from the experience?"

im having trouble coming up with something to write about because its very stressful and a big deal i want it to be good and unique so im kinda stuck.

so i this a good idea to write it on?
first off im 17 and a high school senior

anyways this past july my mother moved to california after a divorce from her second husband to be with her family (i live on the east coast) and she took my dog with her who i treated like my child basically (weird i know) well anyways i had to move in with my dad who i dont get along with very well ( my mother is my biggest support system and we were very close) so it goes without saying i was devastated when she moved on top of that i had to get a job that i work at mon-friday after school to pay for car insurance, gas and cell phone bill along with 4 ap classes and 3 honors. it has been very hard and stressful blah blahblah. is this a good topic but what would be the lesson? that i took my mother for granted? any comments/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

sorry if this is grammatically incorrect i typed it in like 2 mins i hate misspelling words and wrong punctuation so please no comments about me not capitalizing my "i"

Show homeschool on a resume?

How would you add your homeschooling years on a resume? I'm helping a friend with his resume and I'm completely bummed on this one. He's done community college but I feel I must list SOMETHING for his earlier education. I just don't know how to go about doing this.

Should I use my university email or my personal email on my resume as a CS student seeking an internship?

Either is acceptable. However, for the future, consider whether your school email address will be active after you graduate. Many schools terminate access (or modify to include .alum). You are starting to build your personal brand and/or your personal network. Use the email address(es) that you can retain.*** and set up a more professional personal email address if your current one is questionable. ***

Can you tell me something about yourself?

Hii Quorans!! ❤️I am Tanvi Sehra (I have a bad habit of writing my full name coz my name is really short), most probabyyou know my name already. Should I take my college degree off of my resume?

Thanks bandgeek, as for the other who said it was lie, it's not a lie if a) they don't ask me if I went to college and b) if I omit it.

Most people don't list every job they've ever worked at on their resume...that's not a lie. They just don't put it down.
