Yes, being a small-handed person can be a handicap at times, when playing the guitar.Here are a couple things you can try to ease the burden a bit.If you have the money, check into the possibility of getting a 3/4-size guitar. There is no rule that says you have to play a full size guitar, and many smaller guitars have a depth of tone that equals larger guitars. You just need to shop around.But if you do not have the kind of money to invest in a new instrument, there might still be a workaround. I've actually done this before, for other reasons, and it worked pretty well for me, although I suspect it might depend a bit on the individual instrument. Instead of tuning to E-A-D-G-B-E, tune all your strings a full step lower to D-G-C-F-A-D. Then, put a capo at the second fret, and treat the capo as though it were the nut. Because the distance between frets gets smaller the further up the neck you go toward the body, you now have an advantage because you effectively have smaller frets to deal with, even with your first-position chords. Also, the strings are slightly less tense, so there's a bit less resistance when pressing them to the fretboard, which may help.
Tuning my guitar for stairway to heaven?
yup, it is regular tuning. i just have an acoustic and can play quite a bit of the song. i'm just seconding what the first poster said. you should be able to look up playing lessons on stairway to heaven on youtube; i have found quite a bit of good help there; just do a google search. hope it helps.
On guitar what does this mean?
It is slightly lower than the regular tuning, which is E A D G B E. The small "b" after each letter just means "flat", as in a flat note, which is basically just the note between two notes (for example Bb is between B and A on the guitar). I would suggest you learn how to read tab, it doesn't take to long to the hang of. Here's some hints that should help you get better at guitar: This is the low E string of the guitar, with the frets arranged in tab, with the corresponding notes underneath (by the way the "#" means sharp, an F# is also a Gb. some notes are just called shaps, don't ask me why lol): E|---0---1---2---3---4---5---6---7---8... E F F# G G# A Bb B C C# D Eb E And it just repeats. In this way you can figure any note on any string: just remember each string starts the pattern the name of the string (The G string starts with a G note). When you tune to Eb, just shift all the notes down one fret. then --1-- is E and --13-- is E again. That leaves --0-- as Eb. The best way to tune to Eb, unless you have a good electronic tuner that will tell when you are in Eb, is this: Use a simple tuner or internet tuner to tune the first fret to regular E tuning. What does Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb Guitar Tuning Mean?
It‘s not a "tuning"! It's just a case of de-tuning the whole guitar by a semi-tone. Nowadays, people don't understand the thinking behind it - they talk about it giving more bottom end to the sound etc. Obviously this is nonsense, as it gives only one extra, lower note (Eb on the sixth string). There are people out there that think a guitar needs to be tuned according to the key of the song. So, to play a song in Bb, they will seriously try to de-tune their guitar so that the sixth string is tuned to Bb! They make stupid names up like, "Standard D", "Drop C" etc. it's quite funny really although worrying as some people take these fools seriously! The original point of de-tuning was to allow heavier strings to be used which, as there is more metal vibrating, produces a louder, thicker sound. If you like playing with "nines" try changing to "tens" and de-tuning by a semi-tone. The feel will be at least as light as the "nines" but you should get a louder, fuller sound. I believe Hendrix did this.

Assuming you’re using standard EADGBE tuning, just capo fret #2 and play every chord down one letter.Mind you, this means you PLAY in G, but it will still sound in A.If you want to capo in such a way as to SOUND in G, it is possible, but only if you also play this n a different key. For instance, if you capo on 2, you would have to play in F. I suspect this defeats your purpose.If you want to use A Major chords, you will have to (a) tune your guitar DOWN a whole step (two frets, or DGCFAD), or capo on fret 10. And unless you have a cutout in the guitar body (as do most elecric and some style of acoustics), you won’t be able to get your hand around the neck. But even if you do, the maths of the string shortenings will leave your tuning way off unless you tune FOR that transposition… meaning the instrument will be really out of tune for any other capo position. I’d recommend option (a).
