If The Duchess Of Cambridge

What would happen if the Duchess of Cambridge (formerly Kate Middleton) asked Prince William for a divorce?

Well several things would happen:She would no longer be a Royal, and would no longer be an HRHShe would get a generous financial settlement, however hardly as much as she would get much later in their marriageShe would get a home, probably in Kensington PalaceShe wouldn’t automatically get a title, that’s totally in the gift of the monarch- so depending on if it’s the Queen or Charles- plus depending on how the divorce comes aboutShe would have to inform her former husband anytime she wanted to take the kids anywhere out of the UK.And she would endlessly be hounded by the press, but without the protection of the crown

Will Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge be queen?

I'm upholding Sarah Smith's answer and disagreeing with Peter's.In the natural course of things, the present Duchess of Cambridge will become queen. It is true that she will be a Queen Consort rather than a Queen Regnant, but she will still be a queen. In fact, the title 'queen' usually describes a Queen Consort, the wife of a reigning king, rather than a reigning queen, if for no other reason than that monarchies are usually male-preference (I know, I know, this is changing in Europe) and historically and through the present, there are a lot more rexes ruling than reginas. She'll be no more Queen than Prince Philip is King. Most royal "other halves" do not use this title. No, neither of these statements is true.  Most male royal "other halves" do not use this title because the word 'king' is generally understood to mean a sovereign. The husband of a ruling queen, therefore, is usually known as a prince consort, to make it clear that he is not the one reigning.  There have been men who have been known as king consort, but this is unusual. Are there some inconsistencies in these rules?  Yes, absolutely.  But as the midwife said to the bishop: I don't make 'em, I just deliver 'em.

If The Duchess of Cambridge ask you to suggest a name for her newborn what would it be?

There must be many naming traditions that members of the Royal family have to pay attention to, & the new bundle of joy will have Prince or Princess in front of their name, so - names like Wayne, Kevin, or Nigel for a boy would just not work, likewise Sally, Karen, or Tracey for a girl. The Royal family is quite large, & it might be a good idea to not name a child after a living member of the Royal Family - so as to best not confuse who’s being addressed - the names Catherine, Margaret, & Elizabeth are all beautiful names for girls - yet there have been Princesses, Queens & Empresses with these names already, likewise the names Charles, Edward, Andrew, Henry, William, James have often been repeated in the Royal FamilyI’d suggest something elegant, refined & regal sounding, perhaps names that hadn’t been used or rarely used in the Royal Family before - Solomon, Oliver, Rupert, Reynard, Alexander, Magnus, Rudolph, Ludovic, Tarquin, Nicholas (Nikolai?), Robert & Richard for a boy, Olivia, Alexandra, Isabella, Tamar, Eleanor, Juliana, Gwendolen, Cordelia, Marcia, Lavinia for a girl - all these names sound quite nice with Prince or Princess in front of them - I wonder what their future careers will be - fitness coach? Dance instructor? Zumba teacher? Yoga teacher? Actor? Dancer? Artist? Musician? Physician? Veterinary surgeon? Physicist? Biologist? Chemist? Tree surgeon? Engineer? Queen Elizabeth was a mechanic . . .

What if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had not been physically able to produce any heirs to the throne?

Have you not ever wondered why every single person, man or woman line for the throne of England is a military officer trained in weapons as diverse as helicopter gunships, heavy machine guns, destroyers and of course swords. Queen Elizabeth is only alive because her husband, Prince Philip was very good at combat, having fought both the Nazis and Japan in WW2. As a Princess, Her Majesty (Star Wars is an allegory to WW2 and Princess Leia is loosely modelled on her), served in uniform and the way she learned to drive off road vehicles has been used to terrify peasants who find themselves in charge of whole countries, because of the naked aggression she demonstrates at an age when most poeple are dead. Each Royal Prince and Princess is the commander of a large chunk of the UK armed forces, which depending on how you evaluate such things are the 4th most powerful on Earth, with everyhing from F35s, elite special forces, marines, bombers, hackers to nukes and given that this is Britain, archersRoyal Company of Archers - WikipediaSo if there is no anointed succcessor there is a tense stand off on the death of the monarch whilst each warlord and warlady gathers their helicopter gunships, submarines, bombers and of course archers whilst the Speaker of the House of Commons desparately tries to broker a deal. He may well die in the process, it as has happened several times in the past, so that is why when appointed he is physically dragged to the chair.Or alternatively Prince Harry becomes King Henry the Ninth because a) he has personally killed more people than any other living member of the Royal Family and b) he is next in the line of succession.

What will the Duchess of Cambridge be called when William is crowned the Prince of Wales?

The Prince of Wales does not have a crown he has a corronet so he won’t be crowned.Secondly the title of Prince of Wales is not automatic, it is in the gift of the sovereign (The second time today that I have typed that sentence in an answer on Quora). So when Charles becomes king, William will automatically become Duke of Cornwall (and Duke of Rothesay) so he and Kate will become the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge in England and Wales. In Scotland where they are currently known as the Earl and Countess of Srathearn, they will be the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay,If William at some stage becomes Prince of Wales then Kate will be HRH The Princess of Wales, in England and Wales but still Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland.Edit I have had a couple of suggested amendments for which thanks. I have incorporated them above.Further edit. I have had a suggested edit which claims that Harry not William will become Duke of Cornwall. This is completely wrong as William is the elder son of Charles. I have therefore discarded that

If the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to twins, and all others in the line to the throne die, who will rule?

Neither. The government would rule. The monarch ‘reigns’. There's a key difference. But you won't thank me for my pedantry! However, the less pedantic answer is that whichever homunculus were to emerge first from the royal womb would become the monarch. From time immemorial this was dependent on the sex of said homunculus, the male taking precedence, but the Succession to the Crown Act 2013 ruled that equal status should be bestowed on the female. And there's that word ‘rule’ again. The government ruled it should be thus and the reigning monarch assented.Of course, all this depends on the royal midwives & chamberlain marking the slippery little things correctly.

Does the Duchess of Cambridge also have to curtsey to Lady Louise Windsor? Please explain!?

If I recall, Lady Louise Windsor is in theory a Princess of the United Kingdom or something like that, Please correct me if I'm wrong and Please explain the UK Order of precedence in the Royal Family cause I'm not an expert on all of this. Thanks!

Who will be regent for Prince George of Cambridge?

Normally, it would be the adult who was highest in the line of succession after George. That would be Prince Harry.

However, they could decide on a Regency Council rather than just one person, in which case both Harry and the Duchess of Cambridge could serve, possibly with some other members; or, if Harry were still in the military and not regularly available for the duties, George's mother could be sole regent.

It would depend on the circumstances.
