If The Yellowstone Volcano Erupting Now Introduced As You Do To Save

"Yellowstone" super-volcano erupt soon?

There is no way of predicting when or how bad the next big eruption at Yellowstone will be. The current activity is interesting, but not alarming. It's unlikely to do anything major (super volcano) in our lifetimes since major events at Yellowstone only occur at intervals of hundreds of thousands of years. A smaller event like a big steam explosion or such might be in the offing, that's far more common. Might blow up a few tourists and leave a big muddy steaming hole, but people outside the park would be fine.

A supervolcano eruption would however be a catastrophe the likes of which humanity has never seen. Whole states in the vicinity would be rendered uninhabitable because they would be buried under a foot or more of ash. And the ash thrown into the upper atmosphere would almost certainly cause world temperatures to plummet for a decade or longer. The resulting crop failures would mean a significant percentage of the human race would starve to death.

The last similar event in 535 AD killed about half the human race:

If the Yellowstone Caldera erupted at this moment, what would the estimated yield be in TNT tons?

How long is a piece of string?

You have an interesting question there, but I assure you that no volcano is capable of putting anything into orbit.

The energy released in a volcanic eruption is normally measured as Volcanic Explosivity Index (VEI).

The 1883 Krakatoa eruption had a VEI of 6, which is equivalent to 200 megatons (200,000,000 tonnes) of TNT and ejected approximately 21 km³ or rock and dust. For comparison, the Little Boy bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima during WW2 released about 15,000 tonnes TNT equivalent energy.

The largest known eruption at Yellowstone occurred 2.1 million years ago, and ejected 2,450 km³. If you can compare the volume of ejecta to TNT equivalent, that means the 2.1 Ma Yellowstone eruption released 117 times more energy than Krakatoa, or about 23 billion tonnes TNT equivalent.

I'm scared of yellowstone volcano?

Your geography teacher is wrong, then.

There is no evidence that Yellowstone is gearing up for an eruption. Activity levels have stayed pretty much constant since records began for it.
Look on the official Yellowstone website, that should give you enough info about it.

It's not going anywhere anytime soon. Anyone who trots out the "overdue for an eruption" is largely uninformed. Two or three eruptions do not create an accurate pattern to estimate the next eruption.
And, if it was gearing up for an eruption, we'd know about it. Supervolcanoes take some time to warm up - earthquakes, increased geyser activity, hydrothermals, etc. We'd get a fair warning.

So, don't worry.

Since all of yellowstone national park is one super volcano, if it erupts what would happen?

It would be huge & take out most of the US...eventually, it would put the planet into a nuclear winter that most would not survive.
This is on the Discovery channel every few months...pay attention next time, it will be easier to do your homework!
