If You Call Poison Control Will They Investigate Your Issue

If I call the poison control center, will the government take my child away?

I feel so terrible. This evening my 20 month old got ahold of a bottle of jewelry cleaner and managed to open it. I know that he couldn't have had it for more than a few seconds, and I quickly snatched it away from him, but he'd spilled some on his shorts, and I could swear I smelled a little on his breath. Needless to say, I was horrified and immediately called poison control. Everything is fine, and I'm not actually sure he injested any anyway, but I'm terrified that he'll be taken away from me now. I had a child safety lock on the drawer the cleaner was in, and I was right there in the room. I turned away for less than a minute. I just can't believe this happened.

Will Poison Control call CPS on me?

My toddler got into a bottle of children's Tylenol while I was cleaning up a spilled drink in our family room (I can't see the kitchen from this room.) I keep the children's medicine in a tall cabinet in the kitchen, above the counter since the kids can't reach it, or so I thought. I did not have a baby proof lock on it (Yes, I know, I should have anyway....) I believe he ingested about 2 oz of the 4 oz bottle. I IMMEDIATELY called poison control and told them what had happened and she factored in his weight and how much he ingested and told me that it was not toxic and that the most that would come of it is an upset stomach. I'm very thankful he didn't get into anything more serious and since the incident I have moved the medicine to a double locked area. This is the first time I have EVER had to call poison control but I'm still terrified of CPS. I don't feel as though I have anything to worry about if they were to come and investigate but just like ANY parent, I don't want to ever have involvements with CPS. Would poison control call CPS over this one incident?

Will u die if you eat rat poison?

No doubt

My neighbors keep calling the police on me and falsely accusing me of criminal acts. I am afraid to go outside of my house. What do I do?

I have a neighbor that is fixated on my husband. She seemed a little off, but once she found out about his time in prison she developed a full blown obsession. She wrote the association board for our community a complaint about him slamming doors and watching her when she was outside. This was nonsense but they still had to address it with us. She wrote subsequent letters to the board stating he has a key to her car, and gains entry to turn on her radio...that he lets air out of her tires...that he's getting in her home and releasing ants...and he's poisoning the food in her refrigerator. We'd see police at her door, but they never stopped by to talk to us. One day last fall, my husband was riding his bike. This neighbor pulled her car in front of him and slammed on her brakes, causing him to fall off his bike. Her behavior was now endangering him so we went to the police to file a report. The police were helpful, and knew our neighbor well. Apparently she'd filed lots of police reports about my husband and a few other men from the neighborhood. The police recognized she has mental health issues and never pursued her later complaints. So what can you do? Try to have your cell phone ready to record if you think your neighbor will confront you. Keep a cool head, there's nothing wrong with not engaging in an argument. Don't be afraid to talk to the police to see what your options are if you're being harassed. You don't want to end up on the wrong side of this problem.UPDATE: my local police department reached out to the neighbour's daughter, the daughter called my husband to apologize and let him know she will be intervening in a medically supervised care program for her mother. She made sure he has her contact info should we have any problems. I give her all the credit in the world, she was wonderful and it's great that she wants to be involved in her care! Here's hoping my neighbor gets back on track.

What are the effects of Visine if ingested?

As with most things in medicine, it depends on how much you ingest.Original Visene contains 0.05% Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride. A full 15 milliliter bottle would contain 750 milligrams of the tetrahydrozoline. The MSDS sheets I found on the ‘net indicate a LD50 for mice of around 345 mg/Kg (The Lethal Dose 50% quantity is the amount of chemical which will kill half of the test animals it is administered to).The three MSDS sheets I found don’t indicate what dosages of the drug start to produce adverse side effects in humans. Extrapolating from rodents to humans is not always applicable. An entire bottle probably wouldn’t kill a typical 50 Kg man, but might very well make him sick. One MSDS states: Potential Acute Health Effects: Slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant, permeator), of eye contact (irritant), more hazardous in accidental ingestion. Overdoses after ingestion or absorption through skin or mucous membrane may cause change blood pressure, irregular or rapid heart rate, vomiting, diarrhea, delirium, convulsions, and coma. The manufacturer’s labeled side effects include:Lowering body temperature to dangerous levels Making breathing difficult, or even halting it entirely Blurring vision Causing nausea and vomiting Elevating and then dropping blood pressure Causing seizures or tremors Sending the ingester into a comaPfizer's cautions to users of Visine include, 'If swallowed, getmedical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.' In viewof the above list, that advice should not be taken lightly."Nearly everything that you put into your eyes get swallowed eventually, if it doesn’t run down your face or get absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Deliberately poisoning someone with it would be unwise, cruel and illegal.
