If you could somehow attach a double reed to the end of a recorder, would it sound like an oboe?
You'd have the buzzing of the reed but probably not much else. The bores are different shapes. It would take quite a bit of manhandling to make an oboe reed fit, so it's probably not worth the effort. You probably also don't want to spend the money on an oboe reed just to play around. If you play oboe, just take that time to practice the oboe.
