If You Finish Freshman Year With A 2.00 Gpa Can You Still Bring It Up To A 4.00 Or More

How do I get my gpa to 3.5? And do colleges care a lot about fresh/soph grades?

Universities only care about sophomore and junior years. Don't try to take numerous difficult classes in one year or semester. It's too much and you will stress out. Instead focus on your strengths. Are you good at math, if so you may feel free to take 2 math classes (Algebra 2 and Advanced Trig). If not, I suggest only taking one of them. Chemistry seems to be difficult for most people, so unless you feel extremely confident about obtaining an A or B, go ahead and take it. Honors English and US History is good, as well as AP Psychology. Just keep in mind, each teacher is different and has different requirements. In other words, factor the teachers and their expectations in. It seems difficult to pull off a 4.00, but it might be possible, and if you do, good job! Your weighted GPA is very high, you will get in a good university, even if you don't do well on you SAT. Believe me, you are on track-exceeding expectations.

How can I raise my GPA in my last year?

I am an incoming high school senior.

Academic GPA (non-weighted): 3.37
Total GPA (non-weighted): 3.44
10-12 GPA (non-weighted): 3.39

1) Which GPA do colleges look at and focus on?
2) Is it possible for me to raise my GPA to a 3.5 or higher in my last year?
3) Do I need to get straight As to do so?

If i have a 3.8 GPA after my freshman year of high school, then by the time i graduate can i have a 4.0?

No. 4.0 is all A's.
For a weighted GPA you could potentially get it up to a 4.0, maybe higher. But weighted GPAs are weakkkkk.

91% is a B at your school? that sucks. I only got 91s in high school, just enough to get that A.

For freshmen year in high school my GPA was a 1.5 Would I be able to get a 3.0 by the end of senior year ?

If you apply yourself and get mostly all A’s for the rest of high school, then yes. Since 1.5+4+4+4=13.5, and 13.5/4=3.375, it is possible. However, you don’t need a perfect 4.0 every semester. As long as your semester average is around a 3.5 (between an A- and B+ average), it will be possible to graduate with a 3.0 average GPA. Good luck!

How do I bring my gpa up A LOT before I graduate?

I am a junior in my last semester of the school year and I have a 3.00 gpa because I slaked like crazy my first couple of years but last semester I brought my gpa up and now I have a 3.00. I take an AP class and an honors class and I take two online classes. Is there any way I could bring my gpa up over the summer and next year by dual enrollment in college and with AP classes and I would be willing to take a bunch of online classes over the summer and I would even dual enroll over the summer. I know it is really unrealistic but I would like to get to a 3.80 or maybe even a 4.00 weighted. I don't want any negative answers because I know what I did in the past was stupid, I just need helpful answers. Thank you.

I have a 2.5 GPA in community college. Can I still transfer to a 4 year school?

College admissions depend on a number of things, but for transfer, GPA is going to be a big factor if you have completed 12 or more credits because you will be considered a transfer student. In this case the college won't look at your ACT/SAT score but rather things like GPA. Also, keep in mind, if your low GPA is based on having some grades lower than a C, those classes probably won't transfer even if you get accepted so you would have to re-take them. The best way to boost your GPA and avoid this issue would be to re-take a few classes in which you got low grades and get much higher grades the second time. You should probably start by visiting the college's webpages for admissions to see what the admissions requirements are and then apply if there isn't anything precluding you from doing so. Understand that with that GPA, you probably won't be accepted directly into one of the programs you mention without showing some additional success first.

Is a 3.16 a good GPA for my first semester of high school? (freshmen)?

I got a all A's and B's and one C+ in an honors class with a GPA of 3.16 in my first semester of high school(freshmen). I know I can do much better and I really do plan (hope) to. I was quite lazy and never got enough sleep. So can I raise my GPA to 4.00 or higher by the end of my JUNIOR year? I plan to take AP english, AP calculus, and Pre-AP chemistry .. With a small possibility of taking AP Biology.
Is it possible or not, because my parents freaked out and grounded me for it and told me I'm going no where in life if I keep it up. :(

Can you calculate my GPA if I had a 2.8 in my first year, but now in my second (fall semester) I ended with a 4.0? The first year I took 29 credits. This fall I took 14.

Looks like you failed English and Math. What you meant to say was “In my first year, I took 29 units over 2 semesters with an average grade of 2.8. In my third semester, I ended with a 4.0”So, now the math:The total units you took was: 29 + 14= 43 unitsTake the ratio of units you took over the total and multiply by your grade and add the two29/43 X 2.8 + 14/43 X4.0 = 1.9 + 1.3 = 3.2So, your average score over three semesters is 3.2

2.8 gpa, am i screwed?

had same issue as you did.
I got 2.7 gpa in sophomore year cus of similar reasons
but managed to pull it up to 3.5 by the end of the high school years

some things i can suggest to you is that

1) Keep trying and pull it up above 3.0~2 at least by the end of the sophomore year and the rest of the high school years
2) Focus on getting a good score on the SAT (above 1800 minimum)
3) Try your best on the admissions essay (research a lot) and
give yourself at least one month or more to write it. Also find a good tutor or someone skilled to go over your essay multiple times
4) most importantly, check the admissions deadline for you desired college and if possible do an early admission and turn in nyour admissions as earliest as possible.

I had 3.4 and 1800 flat SAT score, wrote a pretty good essay and got into a medium sized 4 year college.
But I do regret the fact that I didn't turn in the admission until the last week before deadline, that i didn't have enough time to write the admissions essay, and also didn't study for SAT enough.

As far as I'm concerned I don't think your screwed.
Because I know somebody who had around 3.0 gpa and
less than 1300 of a score on SAT but got into a good 4 year college that I didn't get into, all because he had a good essay and did an early admission.

You are not screwed in anyway even if all fails because I know many people who transferred from 2year community college to good schools like UCLA, UW, UC Berkely, USC- because they took the second chance in college with an extreme effort.

So do your best and don't let your anxiety keep you from pulling up your GPA or hope.
Good luck man. Peace.

Does GPA really drop when you go from high school to college?

You don't bring your high school GPA with you from high school to college. Once you begin college for your first time, you start with a new GPA. A lot of people choose to mess around and party in college during their first year, and this causes their GPA to start off low. A lot of people get their act together by the second semester or the start of sophomore year, but many will fall into bad habits that will tarnish their GPA for years. Let me warn you, I am 24 years old right now and I just started college over about a year ago after screwing around and not attending classes. Even if you don't know what you want to major in yet, just keep going to class and getting A's. Study and DO THE HOMEWORK. The weekly assignments don't seem like a big deal, but without those, even if you get 100s on the exams you will fail. Some teachers only have exams and no homework for the class, but if you don't read and keep up with what's going on in class, you will fail the tests. Attending class is VITAL. Trust me, you don't want to end up in the same situation as me. Any idiots who say they don't need to attend class to pass a test are just that, idiots. I was able to get through high school pretty easily without being very disciplined. But college is a completely different ball game. I was in gifted and talented, accelerated classes in high school so I thought I could coast through college without having to work too hard, but I was sadly, sadly mistaken. Once you get to be my age, you will be so happy you went to class and kept your grades up. You will have a degree and most likely a good career while many of your peers flunked out and are still waiting tables because they screwed around and lacked focus. I'm lucky that I was able to start over before completely flunking out, but I still won't have a degree until I'm 28 years old.
