If You Have Lice Is It Obviously To Tell Also How Often Do You Itch If You Have Lice

Is it obvious when someone has lice? could you have them and not know?

I bet my daughter had head lice four times growing up. It's always the people with clean hair that get them because if your hair is greasy the nits can't hold on to the shaft. It's not always obvious when someone else has lice, but if you have them, it's more than obvious. To make sure that is, in fact, what you have you need to have someone else check your head for you. If you see a small, clear or white bump on a hair, try knocking it off by rubbing the hair between two fingers. If it comes off that way, it's not lice. On the other hand, if it is lice you'll have to grab it between your thumb and forefinger and slide it all the way to the end of the hair shaft to get it off. If you do have them, it's not a big deal really. You can buy a lice removal kit at the grocery store. It comes with shampoo, a tiny toothed comb and a can of spray. Read and follow ALL the directions for using the shampoo and don't forget to reapply it as directed because one treatment won't do it. You'll also have to "pick the nits" out of your hair and off your scalp every day until the shampoo kills them. (Hopefully you have a buddy that will do this for you cause it's really hard to do it yourself) When you bring the kit home remove your sheets, pillow cases, bedspread, pillows etc and wash all in hot water and dry in the dryer. Spray your mattress and your couch and where your head touches on the seat of your car with the spray until it's wet. If your kids have them, you have to take all of their stuffed animals and put them in a plastic bag and seal it up for about 3 weeks or so before it's safe for them to play with them again. Anyway, lice can't jump off of you onto someone else, but they can crawl off your head onto your pillow and them onto some other head, so keep this in mind. (Damn, my head is itching like crazy just talking about it) Good Luck, and hang in there. In about a week you'll be good as new!!!

Should you tell coworkers if you have lice?

I'm pretty sure I have lice (I've found the little critters in my hair this morning). I don't know much about them or how easily they spread so I don't know who I need to tell. Obviously I'd rather not make a big deal about it if I'm not likely to spread them but if they spread easily it only seems right to tell the people I work with even if its akward. We work in cubes and a plant setting so theres really no physical contact. I'm going to get them treated tonight and have only had an itchy head for about a week if lenght of time makes a difference.

How can i tell if i have head lice???

try using a lice shampoo.
If it feels better, continue for a few weeks.
If it feels the same you should probably go and see a dermotologist.
good luck :)

How long does it take lice to start itching?

I know this sucks, but you probably won't itch until the actual eggs hatch (saying she did give it to you, which chances are she didn't). Lice itches when you feel it crawling through your hair and when it bites at your scalp. I remember having terrible lice about 4 years ago, too. Except I got it from school. But, if you're really concerned, just make sure you boil your hair brush and keep watching your hair for eggs and lice. You'll know if you have it. It's normally a pretty obvious thing. You'll randomly find bugs, and it will look like you have bad dandruff.
Good luck! I hope you don't get it. It was a nightmare for me.

So if my head itches, does it mean i have lice?

Just because ur head itches, doesn't always mean u have lice. It could mean u have a dry and/or unhealthy scalp, or an infected hair.

Sometimes also the sun can beat down upon ur head and make it itch from the heat. So, don't be freaking out unless you see some time grey-colored bug come out while ur taking a shower or something.

You can get rid of lice with tea tree oil (it kills them if you put it directly on the BUG, not ur head!), or mayonnaise.

For dry scalp and/or dandruff, use head and shoulders, which is healthier for your hair and smells the best.

Hope this helped!
(thumbs crossed 4 best answer. Lol). :)

I get very itchy every night when I am trying to sleep. Is there a way to stop this?

Possibly you have developed an allergy to something in your bedroom, or an allergy to the clothes-washing detergent or fabric softener you’re using. Possibly you are going to bed without taking a shower first, and your drying sweat is itchy. Possibly you are middle-aged and your skin has less moisture than it used to, so you need to start using a moisturizer on your body after you shower and before you go to bed to reduce or eliminate the itching. If you have pets, possibly your pets have fleas that decide to bite you too, if your pets sleep with you in your bedroom. If its only your head that itches, possibly you have a lice infestation.Or, worst case scenario, possibly you have a bedbug infestation. That is bad news.Check your mattresses and pillows and bedding to see if you have a bedbug infestation. If you discover bedbugs, then you’re going to have a real job getting rid of them. They get into the walls and flooring of your home, so there is no easy way to get rid of them.I suggest just tossing out your mattresses and bedding, clearing the room out entirely of all furniture and objects, all clothing, shoes, etc., and if the room is carpeted, if possible tear out the carpeting and under-padding and toss it. When the room is empty, call in a pest-control service to fumigate your whole house. Then get new carpeting, new mattresses and pillows and new sheets and blankets. Wash all your clothing thoroughly in strong detergent and rinse them twice. When your bedbug infestation is gone, you shouldn’t feel itchy at night, anymore.
