If You Spent The Money To Buy A Home In A Top School District Would You Be Upset If

How much should a guy spend on an engagement ring?

So what you are saying is that you want incorrect answers? Because you asked us not to give the correct answers...

I didn't "expect" my fiance to spend any particular amount. All I expected of him is that when the time came, he would be financially responsible and not go into any sort of debt to buy me something that isn't even REQUIRED to get engaged (because seriously, you don't even NEED a ring to be engaged). And he didn't, so yay.

Petsmart dog obedience school?

Has anyone sent their dogs to Petsmart dog obedience school? How much does it cost for the "Beginner Education for an 8 week session? My Yorkie is 8 months old and just WONT listen! He's so stubborn!!

Why don't poor people study hard in school, do well, and move up in life?

In college, I did some volunteering at an "urban" school, if you know what I mean. Some of the "horror stories" I expected never really happened. Actually, the kids liked me, and I thought a lot of them were pretty good people.

But man - when it came to studying or academics, the MAJORITY of them were REALLY LAZY! After a while, I gave up trying to teach them anything, and we just turned the class into a general discussion kind of thing with credit just for participation and showing up.

Anyway, that's pretty sad, because those kids NEED to do well in school to have any hopes of being successful. But instead, they never studied and did poorly.

Contrast that with my own life story. I did NOT need to study - I'm an only child, and my dad is a successful attorney. He would have trust-funded me as long as I wanted. But I studied anyway, got into a good college, studied there, got into a nice Wall Street job, then a great law school, studied there, and got a job with a Vault 5 firm.

I later latereled over to my dad's firm. That wasn't nepotism - he's a businessman first.

But anyway, I didn't NEED to do any of those things. I could have lived off dad's money forever. Instead, I decided to become independently successful.

So, why don't poor kids - who need to study THE MOST - actually probably study THE LEAST?

It makes no sense. They don't have trust funds like I do. Their parents aren't loaded, or hold a large partnership stake in a multistate law firm. Come on. Why don't they just buckle down and study? Is it just pure laziness on their parts?

Disqualified for Pre-K because my son speaks English?

So what I'm understanding is that, even though I struggle to pay for daycare for my son, I'm not dependent on the government for hand-outs, and my child speaks English, I shouldn't be given a chance for a free pre-k for him? Maybe i'm not understanding the policies of this country.

Should autistic kids be in the same class as normal kids?

Ok my daughter is in the first grade and has an autistic child in her class room. I have heard from my child as well as other parents that the child is very disruptive and loud. My daughter has complained that she finds it very hard to learn with him in the class because the teacher has to spend most of the day correcting him and giving him special attention. I feel that this is ridiculous and that children like this do not belong in the public school system. I have had to start teaching my child at home. She is now ahead of her class mates and I have been thinking about taking her out of the school system. She gets straight A's on her report card so apparently I know what I am doing but my neighbor is very upset because her son is in the same class and he is doing very poorly like the rest of the class. Is there anything that anyone can think of that we could do to get this child removed from the class because it is not fair for the rest of the class to be neglected while one child is given all the atention.

Is property tax the same as paying rent to the government? Can I actually own property in the United States?

When you pay rent on an apartment, you don’t build up equity. You don’t own any more of the apartment at the end of the month that you did at the start. In addition to paying your landlord’s property tax, your rent goes to pay your landlord’s mortgage if he or she has one, but doesn’t put any more ownership into your hands. When you (and the bank) own your property, each payment to the bank builds up your ownership share. Each mortgage payment in effect buys another doorknob, window pane, or square inch of your home.Your property tax payment supports those government services you rely on, such as emergency services, paving and plowing of streets, schools in your area. It covers municipal pay checks, perhaps your local library, and many other services. The goal in property taxation is for your city’s budget balance to be just enough ahead of zero at the end of the fiscal year to cover contingencies, but not be extravagantly over. It is meant to cover expenses more or less occuring in the same fiscal year, but doesn’t plan for the future. You don’t “own” any more of the city every time you pay your property tax.A mortgage payment by default is forward-looking. It has future ownership in mind; therefore is not in any way similar to property tax, which is locked in the present.Yes, a person can truly own property in the United States. Ownership doesn’t obviate the need to pay any taxes due.
