Im About To Cry My Chances Of Getting Into A Good University Are Ruined

Will one bad semester ruin my chances of grad school?

I am a freshman in college and I did well my first semester of college with a 3.53 GPA. This semester I for some reason thought it would be a good idea to take all the hard gen eds I need all at once and I am ending the semester with straight Cs. (A 2.2 GPA). I want to get into grad school for urban planning and I'm really worried they are going to see this bad semester and not let me in. I just feel so discouraged after this semester and I'm really worried about my chances of getting into grad school. All the classes I took this semester were extremely hard and I was not interested in any of them because they were really hard gen eds. Idk I just feel like crap after this semester...

Bad senior grade..could uw or seattle university rescind me? :((?

If you are still going to graduate and are not planning to major in a science or engineering subject, it probably will not have an effect. Six A's and one D with two other AP classes besides AP Calculus is a 3.86 Gpa for the semester, assuming all six classes are academic classes.
Six A's = 6 x 4.0 = 24 + 2 x 1.0 grade points for A's in two AP classes = 26 grade points
One D = 1 grade point.
27 / 7 = 3.86
Colleges are mostly concerned with weighted Gpa not unweighted.
UW, 58% of admits had Weighted GPA of 3.75 or higher; 28% had weighted GPA or 3.5 - 3.74.

Sat and Act Scores are also an issue and usually difficulty in Calculus is related to a weak foundation in Algebra 2, a subject tested on the Sat and Act.
25th and 75th percentile scores:

Good Luck!

School is ruining my life. I'm crying right now because every single day at school seems the end of the world. How can I survive another 4 years?

Why is school ruining your life? Is the work too hard? Do you feel as if you have made the wrong course or degree choice? Do you feel as if people do not understand you? Why do you feel dead inside? Why do you believe you could have done better things? I am glad that you are not bullied which would only have made matters worse. However, feeling the way you feel can impact your overall health and make it difficult to concentrate. Four years is a long time to feel this way. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed at times. School often shapes who we are for a lifetime. The good thing is life is always about second chances. There are always opportunities to do better or grow regardless of where you are now. Things might look miserable now but what are some good things about school and what are things that are not a waste. You should talk to a counselor who is there to help, all what you say is confidential. The counselor is held to a standard of high ethics. I have experienced uncertainty in life and seeking advice really helped. The world awaits your magic and your charm, try focusing not on yesterday but on the possibilities that you have and there are plenty of roads open for your success.

My HEIGHT is ruining my life, making me depressed and ruined my chance with the guy of my dreams. HELP?

HELLO? Models are tall b/c that can be hot. Why do you think they want tall women?! Find someone else. Your dream guy isn't going to be someone that isn't into tall women, so move on. Besides, if you are an inch shorter than him, it sounds like he has a complex over his own height. You cannot get shorter, but you can find shoes and clothes that not only make you look shorter, but can use your height to an advantage. Feel privileged that you are 5'10" and not 3'10", then it would be harder to get some normal, everyday things done. If you are attractive, then your attractive, it's not like you are 7'10"!

I got a B and it ruined my 4.0?

A 4.0 in college is almost impossible, unless you're at a college that's too easy for you or that has rampant grade inflation. Often even the class valedictorian doesn't have a 4.0. One B will not affect your GPA all that much. If you get the rest As, you will still have somewhere around 3.975. Even with one B per year, you'll get around a 3.9, which is fantastic and won't hold you back in any way, no matter what your career plans are.

As for the poster who suggested telling the professor that you should get an A because you always get As... that's pretty obnoxious. 95% of the time, this will not only be ineffective but also lower your professor's opinion of you. If there are errors in the grading, that's one thing--you should bring it up. If you don't understand the grade, you can ask how it was calculated and what the professor thinks you could improve on. Otherwise, it's just a matter of different professors having different standards, and it's not a bad thing to have a few who raise the bar a little higher.

If in the future you find that you're getting scores that are lower than what you want and are used to, visit your professors to go over the work--not to complain about the grade, but to ask for more feedback to better understand the prof's expectations so you can do better on future assignments. And don't take it personally--a grade is not a reflection of your worth, your intelligence, or even your professor's opinion of you. Some of my favorite and brightest students have gotten less than As in my classes, and I don't respect them any less for it.

My final suggestion to you would be to set new goals for yourself. Some small ones and some big ones. Try your best to reach them, and when you don't, learn what you can from it, adjust your goals if you need to and move on.

Will a bad Junior Year semester of high school hurt my chances for a good college?

Okay so lets take this into perspectiveYou have had a 3.7 GPA throughout your freshmen and sophomore year. And you have one not so good trimester of an 2.9.That is not bad in my perspective, it all depends on what you qualify as a good college and where you want to go.Some colleges obviously are harder to get into than others. But does this mean you cannot go to a good college? No.You can always find a college that is right for you. It does not need to be a Harvard or Yale, but the one that you fit best in.I wish you good luck in Junior Year!

Does one D on a highschool freshman report card ruin college for me?

no no trust me i had a D for freshman(spanish), sophomore(spanishII), junior( honors algebra II) year and i still got into drexel st johns and rider(w/ scholarship) but i did not get into rutgers though, but neither did my friend who never got a D in his life.

colleges dont really look at freshman year and understand you were still a kid straight out of grade school.
and if the D is in a course which has nothing to do with your intended major then even more of a better reason to disregard it. and if it is a difficult class even better to make an excuse because maybe they felt you go in over your head atleast you passed a more difficult course than the standard and it says you can challenge yourself.COLLEGES LOVE TO SEE AN UPWARD TREND IN YOUR GRADES. if theres one thing about college admissions they are not black and white.

dont cry just learn from your mistakes........................you will do fine GOOD LUCK.

How bad is getting 75% in the CBSE 12th boards?

In the past, from time and again I’ve faced/encountered this statement that “Your 12th boards marks as well as percentage will chalk your future.”Utter Bullshit.I faced my class 12th boards absolutely blank. Blank as in: no feeling of fear, anxiety, depression or whatsover;absolutely nothing. But bam! I was taught the lesson on fear and not to act cool all the time by the first paper itself. English. I scored 86,92,97 respectively at 3of my pre-boards exams conducted by my school. I became confident(or maybe over-confindent) there and then most probably. My cravings for getting good marks in English at boards went all in vain when I left my exam hall failing to answer and leaving behind 20 marks of answers unattempted. I scored 78% out of the 80 marks I attempted.I was good at Business Studies and I scored a satisfactory grade. 87%.Coming to the next subject-Accountancy. Accountancy was that relative in my family whom I wanted to kill from a Point-Blank range. It was Accountancy which I would refer to as a plot -twist in my academic life. It taught me that I was never made for Commerce but belonged to the exuisitive world of literature. We had 14days of study leave prior to the exam and I prayed for all the fucking 14days to just let the trauma pass and help me land myself on the 15th. I promised to never let myself return to that alley of haunt and disastrous days again. I scored 65% and passed.I passed the other exams with satisfying grades and never looked back onto them with regret.Today while I type this, I just miss 2 things. My childhood and my school. For I lost my childhood under a roof learning things most of which doesn’t even relate, exist, justify the real world of today. I miss school because in the sands of time,I’ve lost my tag of being of a Bosconian foolishly running behind a race (of marks) that bears no importance to me today.Today I’m a happy person devoting my life to food and other related areas of the hotel industry by pursuing http://Bsc.in Hotel and Hospitality Administration from IHM-Guwahati and a BA English hons. degree from IGNOU.-Rihan Das.
