What does 'Erase all content and settings' on an iPhone do exactly?

While most of the other answers already explain the results rather effectively, I wanted to add a bit of technical info to the mix….Technically, what the Erase all content and settings option does under the hood is destroy the encryption keys that are used to encrypt ALL data stored on the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The data remains on the device, but it’s rendered completely inaccessible as it’s encrypted and the keys used to encrypt that data have been permanently and securely erased. From page 10 of Apple’s iOS Security Guide:[1]The “Erase all content and settings” option in Settings obliterates all the keys in Effaceable Storage, rendering all user data on the device cryptographically inaccessible. Therefore, it’s an ideal way to be sure all personal information is removed from a device before giving it to somebody else or returning it for service. Important: Do not use the “Erase all content and settings” option until the device has been backed up, as there is no way to recover the erased data. This is actually an important distinction, as it explains how an iOS device can be securely erased in a matter of seconds. Anybody who has ever tried to “secure wipe” a hard drive knows that it can take quite a bit of time for your computer to go through the entire hard drive and write over the data several times, block by block. In fact, prior to iOS 3.0 and the iPhone 3GS — the first iPhone that included hardware encryption — the Erase all content and settings option used to take a couple of hours to go through your entire flash storage and erase the data block by block.Hardware encryption was introduced to make “remote wipe” more effective as a realistic security option. After all, if somebody was really trying to get access to your data, a remote wipe that takes a couple of hours to securely erase everything on your device would not truly be a secure option — an investigator or identity thief could disassemble the device, cut power, and remove the flash storage chips before the processor could erase all of the data, and then use forensic tools to read the data from the flash storage directly.Footnotes[1] https://www.apple.com/business/d...

Is it possible to get more storage on iPhone?

I have an iPhone 5c and my storage is running out. (Not iCloud storage.) I know you can't buy any and from everything that I've heard it says that the only way to get more storage is to buy a higher capacity phone. Is there truly no other way, besides freeing it up by deleting apps and pictures?

I'M ONLY GETTING $4100 IN CHRISTMAS PRESENTS?!?

Really??? How about nothing at all.

Does the ipod touch 5th generation have siri?

Yes, it does have Siri.
It also has
-Bigger screen
-New design
-Better camera
-Faster processor
-Better graphics
-New lightning connector
-Panorama feature
-New colours

How to get rid of over 7 GB of "Other" data on my iPhone 4S?

[A.] I would first try to solve your problem by deleting unwanted Apps.

General Tips:
- Movies, music videos, TV shows, and other images take up proportionally more data than songs and most Apps.
- Games that have 3D environments (like Infinity Blade) take up more data than 2D Apps.
- The Safari App holds a minimal amount of data that allows it to remember open pages. If you delete that data, those pages will be closed. I recommend leaving this data since it is minimal.

1. Press the Settings icon >
2. Press "General" >
3. Press "Usage" >
4. Wait for "Storage" list to load >
5. Scroll down and click "Show all Apps"
6. See which apps are taking the most data >
7. Choose and press an App that you don't want >
8. Press "Delete App" >
9. Repeat Steps 7. and 8. until you are happy with how much data is available.

[B.] If that does not work, I would restore the iPhone. This will delete the data and settings for many Apps but you will be able to get all the Apps back as well as the data and settings for certain ones (such as those synced with Gamecenter).

1. Hook iPhone up to computer and open iTunes.
2. Allow iPhone to completely sync. This could take several minutes.
3. Under your device menu, open the "Summary" tab.
4. Under "Backups" find "Manually Back Up and Restore" and click "Back Up Now."
5. Allow iPhone to completely back up. This could take several minutes.
6. Once the back up is complete, click "Restore iPhone..."
7. When the pop-up appears, click "Restore." This could take several minutes.
8. When the iPhone is reset, follow the directions given on the iPhone.

Should i go with an IPhone or Android?

Depends on ur use :
Android
-Customization (Like Widgets , Live wallpapers etc)
-Productivity (Like useful apps which work with accelerometer/gyroscope , media players etc)
-Hardware Choice (like Phones available in different screen sizes and different configurations slide-type , etc)

As far as i know 2.3 aka gingerbread is very buggy on Galaxy s2 , alarm clock doesn't work properly and also feel little bit buggy sometimes.
My recommendation is wait for Galaxy S3 launch or Wait for galaxy S2 until it gets ICS update.
U can also buy Google's Galaxy Nexus Phone right now running ICS 4.0 but no flash (idk) and ICS doesnt have good apps atm.

If u like Customization , Productivity and Big Screen size Get an android immediately.

iPhone :
-Best Battery Overall
-Great Multimedia and Gaming Apps
-Good for long-term (long support for future software updates)

I never agree iPhone is bug-free because , i myself found lots of bugs with iOS , example it shows "full charge symbol" instead of charging symbol sometimes and also Alarm clock didnt work for New year 2011.

But disadvantage is all iPhones have same screens and everything looks same. customization is limited. But they give really good software support (Updates or apps) for example iPhone 3GS runs apps like Garageband and Infinity Blade 2 apps even today and 3GS supports all latest apple updates.
And my iPod touch supports my Car-Stereo (i can plug in) and also it supports 7.1 Surround system in my home without any extra accessory. Accessories are available in Tonnes for iPhones.
So for Long-term And Multimedia use i Recommend iOS but its not bug-free.

Conclusion :
Both have Pros and Cons.

Once Look at ur own needs and chose the right one

EDIT :
As far as i know all dual-core android phones are very smooth and No need to mention iPhone its always smooth.

Why does my iPhone storage keep filling even when I'm doing nothing? I keep deleting MB of photos, etc., but each night, the storage fills again, even when I do nothing with it.

Plug your iPhone into iTunes a note the size of "Documents & Data" and/or "Other".Those usually are the culprit. Just this week the same thing happened to me with Documents & Data. It began increasing at a rapid rate (it grew more than 15 gigs in 2 days). I hadn't installed any new apps, nor have I added any documents or data to my iPhone. I have everything iCloud photo sharing and Photo Stream off as well. Also under manage storage, I manually added all the storage the individual apps are using and they did not add up to the size of Documents & Data that iTunes is reporting.Long story short, manually removing individual apps didn't work and I couldn't figure out what or where this data is coming from so here is what I did and it worked:Backup your iPhone to iTunes.Make sure your Photos as backed up with Photos app (or somewhere else if you are using Windows)(This goes for Contacts, Notes and anything else you can think of, just make sure to back them up somewhere other than the iTunes backup, you'll understand why in a bit)Restore your iOS on your iPhone.Restore your iPhone from your backup. If the Documents & Data are reasonable (1-3gb) Congratulations! If Documents & Data come back to the large size they were, then you most likely have a corrupt backup in which case, Restore iOS on your iPhone again but this time set the iPhone up as a new iPhone.Sync everything again manually (since you have saved them somewhere other than iTunes)Yes this is tedious, but at least you'll get your storage space back. This is extremely helpful if you have a 16GB iPhone. (I have a 64GB and it drove me crazy)Hope this helps!Cheers!UPDATEI finally figured out what the problem was: Whatsapp. They released a new version about a week ago and it seems there was a bug in it that caused this massive surge in "Documents & Data". Since then a new version has been released. (v2.12.15) Make sure you update to that version and wait a little while a see that the storage should return to its normal state.

How can I unlock my iPhone if I forgot the passcode?

If you have Find My Iphons, then you can change your password by going into the app->devices->find device->restore iPhoneIf you do not then you should either go the Apple store or go into rescue mode on the iPhone and sync to a computer, where you can full reset your phone and set a new password, then redownload a backup of your phone.
